1 Corinthians 121 Corinthians12

King James VersionBerean Standard Bible

1. 1KJVNow concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.BSBBSB: Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.
2. 2KJVYe know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.BSBBSB: You know that when you were pagans, you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.
3. 3KJVWherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.BSBBSB: Therefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
4. 4KJVNow there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.BSBBSB: There are different gifts, but the same Spirit.
5. 5KJVAnd there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.BSBBSB: There are different ministries, but the same Lord.
6. 6KJVAnd there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.BSBBSB: There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people.
7. 7KJVBut the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.BSBBSB: Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8. 8KJVFor to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;BSBBSB: To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit,
9. 9KJVTo another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;BSBBSB: to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10. 10KJVTo another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:BSBBSB: to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
11. 11KJVBut all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.BSBBSB: All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.
12. 12KJVFor as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.BSBBSB: The body is a unit, though it is composed of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ.
13. 13KJVFor by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.BSBBSB: For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink.
14. 14KJVFor the body is not one member, but many.BSBBSB: For the body does not consist of one part, but of many.
15. 15KJVIf the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?BSBBSB: If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
16. 16KJVAnd if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?BSBBSB: And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
17. 17KJVIf the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?BSBBSB: If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
18. 18KJVBut now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.BSBBSB: But in fact, God has arranged the members of the body, every one of them, according to His design.
19. 19KJVAnd if they were all one member, where were the body?BSBBSB: If they were all one part, where would the body be?
20. 20KJVBut now are they many members, yet but one body.BSBBSB: As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21. 21KJVAnd the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.BSBBSB: The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you.” Nor can the head say to the feet, “I do not need you.”
22. 22KJVNay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:BSBBSB: On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
23. 23KJVAnd those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.BSBBSB: and the parts we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable parts are treated with special modesty,
24. 24KJVFor our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:BSBBSB: whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
25. 25KJVThat there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.BSBBSB: so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another.
26. 26KJVAnd whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.BSBBSB: If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
27. 27KJVNow ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.BSBBSB: Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it.
28. 28KJVAnd God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.BSBBSB: And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.
29. 29KJVAre all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?BSBBSB: Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?
30. 30KJVHave all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?BSBBSB: Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?
31. 31KJVBut covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.BSBBSB: But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.
