Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.
6. 5KJVI am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.BSBBSB: I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
7. 6KJVIf a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.BSBBSB: If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. 17. 15KJVHenceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.BSBBSB: No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.
18. 16KJVYe have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.BSBBSB: You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
19. 17KJVThese things I command you, that ye love one another.BSBBSB: This is My command to you: Love one another.

20. The Hatred of the World

21. 18KJVIf the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.BSBBSB: If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first.
22. 19KJVIf ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.BSBBSB: If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.
23. 20KJVRemember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.BSBBSB: Remember the word that I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they kept My word, they will keep yours as well.

26. 23KJVHe that hateth me hateth my Father also.BSBBSB: Whoever hates Me hates My Father as well.
27. 24KJVIf I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.BSBBSB: If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father.
28. 25KJVBut this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.BSBBSB: But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated Me without reason.’
29. 26KJVBut when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:BSBBSB: When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—He will testify about Me.
30. 27KJVAnd ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.BSBBSB: And you also must testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
