12. 10KJVAnd ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.BSBBSB: So you are to consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty in the land for all its inhabitants. It shall be your Jubilee, when each of you is to return to his property and to his clan.

19. 16KJVAccording to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee.BSBBSB: You shall increase the price in proportion to a greater number of years, or decrease it in proportion to a lesser number of years; for he is selling you a given number of harvests.

25. 21KJVThen I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.BSBBSB: But I will send My blessing upon you in the sixth year, so that the land will yield a crop sufficient for three years.

27. The Law of Redemption

28. 23KJVThe land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.BSBBSB: The land must not be sold permanently, because it is Mine, and you are but foreigners and residents with Me.
29. 24KJVAnd in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.BSBBSB: Thus for every piece of property you possess, you must provide for the redemption of the land.
30. 25KJVIf thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold.BSBBSB: If your brother becomes impoverished and sells some of his property, his nearest of kin may come and redeem what his brother has sold.
31. 26KJVAnd if the man have none to redeem it, and himself be able to redeem it;BSBBSB: Or if a man has no one to redeem it for him, but he prospers and acquires enough to redeem his land,
32. 27KJVThen let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.BSBBSB: he shall calculate the years since its sale, repay the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and return to his property.
33. 28KJVBut if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.BSBBSB: But if he cannot obtain enough to repay him, what he sold will remain in possession of the buyer until the Year of Jubilee. In the Jubilee, however, it is to be released, so that he may return to his property.
34. 29KJVAnd if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.BSBBSB: If a man sells a house in a walled city, he retains his right of redemption until a full year after its sale; during that year it may be redeemed.
35. 30KJVAnd if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.BSBBSB: If it is not redeemed by the end of a full year, then the house in the walled city is permanently transferred to its buyer and his descendants. It is not to be released in the Jubilee.
36. 31KJVBut the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.BSBBSB: But houses in villages with no walls around them are to be considered as open fields. They may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the Jubilee.
37. 32KJVNotwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.BSBBSB: As for the cities of the Levites, the Levites always have the right to redeem their houses in the cities they possess.
38. 33KJVAnd if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.BSBBSB: So whatever belongs to the Levites may be redeemed—a house sold in a city they possess—and must be released in the Jubilee, because the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the Israelites.
39. 34KJVBut the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.BSBBSB: But the open pastureland around their cities may not be sold, for this is their permanent possession.

43. 37KJVThou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.BSBBSB: You must not lend him your silver at interest or sell him your food for profit.
44. 38KJVI am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.BSBBSB: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.

45. Redemption of Bondmen

46. 39KJVAnd if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:BSBBSB: If a countryman among you becomes destitute and sells himself to you, then you must not force him into slave labor.
47. 40KJVBut as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile:BSBBSB: Let him stay with you as a hired worker or temporary resident; he is to work for you until the Year of Jubilee.
48. 41KJVAnd then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.BSBBSB: Then he and his children are to be released, and he may return to his clan and to the property of his fathers.
49. 42KJVFor they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.BSBBSB: Because the Israelites are My servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt, they are not to be sold as slaves.
50. 43KJVThou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God.BSBBSB: You are not to rule over them harshly, but you shall fear your God.
51. 44KJVBoth thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.BSBBSB: Your menservants and maidservants shall come from the nations around you, from whom you may purchase them.
52. 45KJVMoreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.BSBBSB: You may also purchase them from the foreigners residing among you or their clans living among you who are born in your land. These may become your property.
53. 46KJVAnd ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.BSBBSB: You may leave them to your sons after you to inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But as for your brothers, the Israelites, no man may rule harshly over his brother.

54. Redemption of Servants

55. 47KJVAnd if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger’s family:BSBBSB: If a foreigner residing among you prospers, but your countryman dwelling near him becomes destitute and sells himself to the foreigner or to a member of his clan,
56. 48KJVAfter that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him:BSBBSB: he retains the right of redemption after he has sold himself. One of his brothers may redeem him:
57. 49KJVEither his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself.BSBBSB: either his uncle or cousin or any close relative from his clan may redeem him. Or if he prospers, he may redeem himself.
58. 50KJVAnd he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired servant shall it be with him.BSBBSB: He and his purchaser will then count the time from the year he sold himself up to the Year of Jubilee. The price of his sale will be determined by the number of years, based on the daily wages of a hired hand.
59. 51KJVIf there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for.BSBBSB: If many years remain, he must pay for his redemption in proportion to his purchase price.
60. 52KJVAnd if there remain but few years unto the year of jubile, then he shall count with him, and according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption.BSBBSB: If only a few years remain until the Year of Jubilee, he is to calculate and pay his redemption according to his remaining years.
61. 53KJVAnd as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight.BSBBSB: He shall be treated like a man hired from year to year, but a foreign owner must not rule over him harshly in your sight.
62. 54KJVAnd if he be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubile, both he, and his children with him.BSBBSB: Even if he is not redeemed in any of these ways, he and his children shall be released in the Year of Jubilee.
63. 55KJVFor unto me the children of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.BSBBSB: For the Israelites are My servants. They are My servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
