1 ULB ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಶೆಕೆಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಬಂದಿದ್ದರು. BSB BSB: Then Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had gone there to make him king.
2 ULB ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನಿಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಐಗುಪ್ತಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನನ್ನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. BSB BSB: When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard about this, he was still in Egypt where he had fled from King Solomon and had been living ever since.
3 ULB ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ನಡೆದ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಡನೆ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, BSB BSB: So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and the whole assembly of Israel came to Rehoboam and said,
4 ULB ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಾರವಾದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹೇರಿದನು. ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಬಿಟ್ಟೀಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ನೀನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಭಾರವಾದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಗುರ ಮಾಡುವುದಾದರೆ ನಾವು ನಿನಗೆ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. BSB BSB: “Your father put a heavy yoke on us. But now you must lighten the burden of your father’s service and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”
5 ULB ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, <<ನೀವು ಈಗ ಹೋಗಿ ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳಾದ ನಂತರ ಪುನಃ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಜನರು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದರು. BSB BSB: Rehoboam answered, “Go away for three days and then return to me.” So the people departed.
6 ULB ಆಗ ಅರಸನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ ತಾನು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡತಕ್ಕ ಉತ್ತರದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. BSB BSB: Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime. “How do you advise me to respond to these people?” he asked.

9 ULB <<ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಹೇರಿದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಗುರಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕು, ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಏನು?>> ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. BSB BSB: He asked them, “What message do you advise that we send back to these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Lighten the yoke your father put on us’?”
10 ULB ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇರಿರುವ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಗುರಮಾಡು ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಜನರಿಗೆ ನೀನು, <ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ನಡುವಿಗಿಂತ ನನ್ನ ಕಿರಿಬೆರಳು ದಪ್ಪವಾಗಿದೆ. BSB BSB: The young men who had grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you must make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist!
11 ULB ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಾರವಾದ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿರುವುದು ನಿಜ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಭಾರವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಾರುಕೋಲುಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದದ್ದು ನಿಜ. ನಾನಾದರೋ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮುಳ್ಳುಕೊರಡೆಗಳಿಂದ ದಂಡಿಸುವೆನು> ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. BSB BSB: Whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my father scourged you with whips, I will scourge you with scorpions.’”
12 ULB ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೂ ಅರಸನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಂತೆ ಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. BSB BSB: After three days, Jeroboam and all the people returned to Rehoboam, since the king had said, “Come back to me on the third day.”

15 ULB ಅವನು ಜನರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳದೇ ಹೋದದ್ದು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದಲೇ. ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಶಿಲೋವಿನವನಾದ ಅಹೀಯನ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಸಿದ ಮಾತು ನೆರವೇರಿತು. BSB BSB: So the king did not listen to the people, and indeed this turn of events was from the LORD, to fulfill the word He had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite.
16 ULB ಅರಸನು ತಮ್ಮ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದೂ ತಿಳಿದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ದಾವೀದನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೇನು ಪಾಲು? ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೇನು ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿರಿ, ದಾವೀದನವರೇ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕುಲವನ್ನು ನೀವೇ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು. BSB BSB: When all Israel saw that the king had refused to listen to them, they answered the king: “What portion do we have in David, and what inheritance in the son of Jesse? To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, O David!” So the Israelites went home,
17 ULB ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಾದರೋ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಅಧೀನದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. BSB BSB: but Rehoboam still reigned over the Israelites living in the cities of Judah.
18 ULB ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಬಿಟ್ಟೀ ಕೆಲಸದವರ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕನಾದ ಅದೋರಾಮನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲು ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆದು ಕೊಂದರು. ಅರಸನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಬೇಗನೆ ರಥವನ್ನೇರಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದನು. BSB BSB: Then King Rehoboam sent out Adoram, who was in charge of the forced labor, but all Israel stoned him to death. And King Rehoboam mounted his chariot in haste and escaped to Jerusalem.
19 ULB ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರೊಡನೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. BSB BSB: So to this day Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David.
20 ULB ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಾಗ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ನೆರೆದ ಸಭೆಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ದಾವೀದನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಲವೇ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ಕುಲವೂ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. BSB BSB: When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they summoned him to the assembly and made him king over all Israel. Only the tribe of Judah followed the house of David.
21 ULB ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಮಗನಾದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿದ ನಂತರ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ತನಗೆ ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಯೆಹೂದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ ಕುಲಗಳಿಂದ ಲಕ್ಷದ ಎಂಬತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: And when Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mobilized the whole house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin—180,000 chosen warriors—to fight against the house of Israel and restore the kingdom to Rehoboam son of Solomon.
22 ULB ಆಗ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾದ ಶೆಮಾಯನಿಗೆ ದೈವೋತ್ತರವುಂಟಾಯಿತು. BSB BSB: But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God:
23 ULB <<ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ, ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಮಗನೂ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನೂ ಆದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನಿಗೂ, ಯೆಹೂದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ ಕುಲಗಳವರಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ಉಳಿದ ಜನರಿಗೂ BSB BSB: “Tell Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and the rest of the people
24 ULB <ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ, ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬಾರದು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿರಿ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದಾಗಿದೆ> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು>> ಎಂಬ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ಅವರು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ವಿಧೇಯರಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದರು. BSB BSB: that this is what the LORD says: ‘You are not to go up and fight against your brothers, the Israelites. Each of you must return home, for this is My doing.’” So they listened to the word of the LORD and turned back according to the word of the LORD.
25 ULB ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಶೆಕೆಮ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಪೆನೂವೇಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನೂ ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim and lived there. And from there he went out and built Penuel.
26 ULB ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ, <<ರಾಜ್ಯವು ಪುನಃ ದಾವೀದನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರಿಗೆ ಆಗುವುದೋ ಏನೋ, BSB BSB: Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom might revert to the house of David.
27 ULB ಜನರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಯಜ್ಞಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಾದರೆ, ಅವರ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಅವರ ಒಡೆಯನೂ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನೂ ಆದ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿತು. ಅವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದಾರು>> ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು. BSB BSB: If these people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, their hearts will return to their lord, Rehoboam king of Judah; then they will kill me and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.”
29 ULB ನಂತರ ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ಬೇತೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರಿಸಿ, ಇನ್ನೊಂದನ್ನು ದಾನಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: One calf he set up in Bethel, and the other in Dan.
30 ULB ಇದು ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಯಿತು. ಜನರು ಈ ಎರಡನೆಯ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯಾಗಿ ದಾನಿಗೆ ಒಯ್ದರು. BSB BSB: And this thing became a sin; the people walked as far as Dan to worship before one of the calves.
31 ULB ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನು ಪೂಜಾಗಿರಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಗುಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ, ಲೇವಿಯರಲ್ಲದ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರನ್ನು ಯಾಜಕರನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: Jeroboam also built shrines on the high places and appointed from every class of people priests who were not Levites.
32 ULB ಅವನು ಎಂಟನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳಿನ ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ, <<ಬೇತೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶದ ಜಾತ್ರೆಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಜಾತ್ರೆಯು ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು>> ಎಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ತಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಬಸವನ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಯಜ್ಞ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ತಾನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳ ಯಾಜಕರನ್ನು ಬೇತೇಲಿನ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: And Jeroboam ordained a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, like the feast that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on the altar; he made this offering in Bethel to sacrifice to the calves he had set up, and he installed priests in Bethel for the high places he had set up.
33 ULB ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಎಂಟನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳ ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನಾಚರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಸ್ವ ಇಚ್ಛೆಯಿಂದ ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿ ಆ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಾನೂ ಬೇತೇಲಿನ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಧೂಪಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅದರ ಮೆಟ್ಟಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಹತ್ತುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. BSB BSB: On the fifteenth day of the eighth month, a month of his own choosing, Jeroboam offered sacrifices on the altar he had set up in Bethel. So he ordained a feast for the Israelites, offered sacrifices on the altar, and burned incense.
