12 ULB ಸೌಲನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನ ಎಫ್ರಾತ್ಯನಾದ ಇಷಯನೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ವೃದ್ಧನಿದ್ದನು. ಇವನ ಎಂಟು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದನು ಒಬ್ಬನು. BSB BSB: Now David was the son of a man named Jesse, an Ephrathite from Bethlehem of Judah who had eight sons. And in the days of Saul, Jesse was old and well along in years.

20 ULB ದಾವೀದನು ಮರುದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ಕುರಿ ಕಾಯುವವನಿಗೆ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ, ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಇಷಯನು ಹೇಳಿದವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಹೊರಟು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಭಟಿಸುವ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯದ ರಥಗಳು ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದನು. BSB BSB: So David got up early in the morning, left the flock with a keeper, loaded up, and set out as Jesse had instructed him. He reached the camp as the army was marching out to its position and shouting the battle cry.

BSB BSB: Then David left his supplies in the care of the quartermaster and ran to the battle line. When he arrived, he asked his brothers how they were doing.
23 ULB ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಗತ್ ಊರಿನ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರನಾದ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನೆಂಬ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ತನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಮುಂಚಿನಂತೆಯೇ ಕೂಗಿದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. BSB BSB: And as he was speaking with them, suddenly the champion named Goliath, the Philistine from Gath, came forward from the ranks of the Philistines and shouted his usual words, which David also heard.

BSB BSB: Now the men of Israel had been saying, “Do you see how this man keeps coming out to defy Israel? To the man who kills him the king will give great riches. And he will give him his daughter in marriage and exempt his father’s house from taxation in Israel.”
26 ULB ದಾವೀದನು,<< ಜೀವಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ದೇವರ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೀಯಾಳಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಎಷ್ಟರವನು? ಇವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿರುವ ನಿಂದೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವವನಿಗೆ ಏನು ಸಿಕ್ಕುವುದು ಹೇಳಿರಿ>> ಎಂದು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು, BSB BSB: David asked the men who were standing with him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Just who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

BSB BSB: Now when David’s oldest brother Eliab heard him speaking to the men, his anger burned against David. “Why have you come down here?” he asked. “And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and wickedness of heart—you have come down to see the battle!”

30 ULB ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬೇರೆ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಲು ಜನರು ಮುಂಚಿನಂತೆಯೇ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟರು. BSB BSB: Then he turned from him toward another and asked about the offer, and those people answered him just as the first ones had answered.

33 ULB ಸೌಲನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ಅವನೊಡನೆ ಕಾದಾಡಲಾರೆ, ನೀನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಹುಡುಗನು ಅವನಾದರೋ ಚಿಕ್ಕಂದಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರನು>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. BSB BSB: But Saul replied, “You cannot go out against this Philistine to fight him. You are just a boy, and he has been a warrior from his youth.”
34 ULB ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಸಿಂಹವಾಗಲಿ, ಕರಡಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಹಿಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿನ ಕುರಿಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲು ಬಂದರೆ BSB BSB: David replied, “Your servant has been tending his father’s sheep, and whenever a lion or a bear came and carried off a lamb from the flock,

37 ULB ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಂಥ ಸಿಂಹದ ಮತ್ತು ಕರಡಿಯ ಉಗುರುಗಳಿಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಕೈಯಿಂದಲೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸುವನು>> ಎಂದನು. ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ <<ಹೋಗು ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರಲಿ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, BSB BSB: David added, “The LORD, who delivered me from the claws of the lion and the bear, will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” “Go,” said Saul, “and may the LORD be with you.”

42 ULB ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಕೆಂಬಣ್ಣದವನೂ, ಸುಂದರನೂ, ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನೂ ಆದ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತಿರಸ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೆ, BSB BSB: When the Philistine looked and saw David, he despised him because he was just a boy, ruddy and handsome.

45 ULB ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ನೀನು ಈಟಿ, ಕತ್ತಿ, ಬರ್ಜಿಗಳೊಡನೆ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತೀ. ನಾನಾದರೋ ನೀನು ಹೀಯಾಳಿಸಿದಂಥ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಯುದ್ಧಭಟರ ದೇವರೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಯೆಹೋವನ ನಾಮದೊಡನೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. BSB BSB: But David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46 ULB ಆತನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವನು. ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿದು ಹಾಕಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಶವಗಳನ್ನು ಮೃಗ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಡುವೆನು. ಇದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಳಗೆ ದೇವರಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬುದು ಭೂಲೋಕದವರಿಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ತಿಳಿದುಬರುವುದು. BSB BSB: This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand. This day I will strike you down, cut off your head, and give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the creatures of the earth. Then the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.
47 ULB ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈಟಿಕತ್ತಿಗಳಿಲ್ಲದೇ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಬಲ್ಲನೆಂಬುದು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿರುವವರಿಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ತಿಳಿದುಬರುವುದು. ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಯುದ್ಧಫಲವು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಆತನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವನು>> ಅಂದನು. BSB BSB: And all those assembled here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give all of you into our hands.”
48 ULB ಕೂಡಲೇ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಹೊರಟು ದಾವೀದನೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸಿ, BSB BSB: As the Philistine started forward to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.

51 ULB ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ದಾವೀದನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದಲ್ಲ ಬರೀ ಒಂದು ಕವಣೆಯ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಿಂದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ, ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ರಣವೀರನು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. BSB BSB: David ran and stood over him. He grabbed the Philistine’s sword and pulled it from its sheath and killed him, and he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.

54 ULB ದಾವೀದನು ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಒಯ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಗುಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡನು. BSB BSB: David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem, and he put Goliath’s weapons in his own tent.
55 ULB ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಸೌಲನು ಕಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಸೇನಾಪತಿಯಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು, <<ಅಬ್ನೇರನೇ ಈ ಹುಡುಗನು ಯಾರ ಮಗನು?>> ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ, <<ಅರಸನೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. BSB BSB: As Saul had watched David going out to confront the Philistine, he said to Abner the commander of the army, “Abner, whose son is this young man?” “As surely as you live, O king,” Abner replied, “I do not know.”
56 ULB ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ಆ ಪ್ರಾಯಸ್ಥನು ಯಾರ ಮಗನೆಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸು>> ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: “Find out whose son this young man is!” said the king.
57 ULB ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಸೌಲನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: So when David returned from killing the Philistine, still holding his head in his hand, Abner took him and brought him before Saul.
