1ಅರಸನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಹದಿನೆಂಟನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬೀಯನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾಗಿ,In the eighteenth year of Jeroboam’s reign, Abijah became king of Judah,

2ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷ ಆಳಿದನು; ಗಿಬೆಯದ ಊರೀಯೇಲನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಮೀಕಾಯ ಎಂಬಾಕೆಯು ಅಬೀಯನ ತಾಯಿ. ಇವನಿಗೂ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನಿಗೂ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡೆಯಿತು.and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Micaiah daughter of Uriel; she was from Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3ಅಬೀಯನು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಲಕ್ಷ ಮಂದಿ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಯುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದನು; ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನೂ ಎಂಟು ಲಕ್ಷ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರಾದ ಭಟರೊಡನೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ವ್ಯೂಹಕಟ್ಟಿದನು.Abijah went into battle with an army of 400,000 chosen men, while Jeroboam drew up in formation against him with 800,000 chosen and mighty men of valor.

4ಆಗ ಅಬೀಯನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ ಪರ್ವತಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಚೆಮಾರೈ ಎಂಬ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು, <<ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನೇ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ.Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim in the hill country of Ephraim and said, “Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel!

5ಯೆಹೋವನು ಉಪ್ಪಿನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೂ ಅವನ ಸಂತಾನದವರಿಗೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾದ ಅರಸುತನವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೋ?Do you not know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?

6ಹೀಗಿದ್ದರೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಮಗನಾದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಸೇವೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಎದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ದಣಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದನು.Yet Jeroboam son of Nebat, a servant of Solomon son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master.

7ಕಾಕಪೋಕರೂ ದುಷ್ಟರೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಜನರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಳೇಪ್ರಾಯದವನೂ, ಮೃದುಸ್ವಭಾವವುಳ್ಳವನೂ, ತಮ್ಮೆದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರದವನೂ ಆದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಮಗ ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನನ್ನು ಇವರು ಪ್ರತಿಭಟಿಸಿ ಬಲಗೊಂಡರು.Then worthless and wicked men gathered around him to resist Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young, inexperienced, and unable to resist them.

8ಈಗ ನೀವು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗುಂಪಾಗಿ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ಹಾಗು ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ನಿಮಗೆ ದೇವರುಗಳೆಂದು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಹೋರಿ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ದಾವೀದನ ಸಂತಾನದವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯೆಹೋವನ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ಗೆಲ್ಲಬಹುದೆಂದು ನೆನಸುತ್ತೀರೋ?And now you think you can resist the kingdom of the LORD, which is in the hands of David’s descendants. You are indeed a vast army, and you have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

9ನೀವು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಯಾಜಕರಾದ ಆರೋನನ ಸಂತಾನದವರನ್ನೂ, ಲೇವಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಓಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅನ್ಯದೇಶಗಳವರಂತೆ ನಿಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಪೂಜಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೀರಿ; ತಾನು ಪೂಜಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತನಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಒಂದು ಎಳೇ ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಏಳು ಟಗರುಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ದೇವರಲ್ಲದವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಪೂಜಾರಿಯಾದನಷ್ಟೆ.But did you not drive out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites? And did you not make priests for yourselves as do the peoples of other lands? Now whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams can become a priest of things that are not gods.

10ನಮಗಾದರೋ ಯೆಹೋವನು ದೇವರಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ; ನಾವು ಆತನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆರಾಧನೆ ನಡೆಸಲು ಆರೋನನ ಸಂತಾನದವರಾದ ಯಾಜಕರೂ, ತಮಗೆ ನೇಮಕವಾದ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾದ ಲೇವಿಯರೂ ನಮಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.But as for us, the LORD is our God. We have not forsaken Him; the priests who minister to the LORD are sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their duties.

11ಈ ಯಾಜಕರು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಹಾಗು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಸುಗಂಧದ್ರವ್ಯ ಧೂಪವನ್ನು ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾ ಶುದ್ಧ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಮೇಜಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ನೈವೇದ್ಯವಾದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನಿಡುತ್ತಾ ಪ್ರತಿ ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಗಾರದ ದೀಪಸ್ತಂಭದ ದೀಪಗಳನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಕಟ್ಟಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ; ನೀವಾದರೋ ಆತನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟವರು.Every morning and every evening they present burnt offerings and fragrant incense to the LORD. They set out the rows of showbread on the ceremonially clean table, and every evening they light the lamps of the gold lampstand. We are carrying out the requirements of the LORD our God, while you have forsaken Him.

12ಇಗೋ, ದೇವರು ನಾಯಕನಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ನಿಮಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಭಟದಿಂದ ಊದತಕ್ಕ ತುತ್ತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವ ಯಾಜಕರೂ ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಬೇಡಿರಿ, ನೀವು ಜಯಿಸಲಾರಿರಿ>> ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.Now behold, God Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with their trumpets sound the battle call against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the LORD, the God of your fathers, for you will not succeed.”

13ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ತನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಒಂದು ಗುಂಪನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕುವರು ಅವರ ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಇದ್ದರು.Now Jeroboam had sent troops around to ambush from the rear, so that while he was in front of Judah, the ambush was behind them.

14ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ತಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಯುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಮೊರೆಯಿಟ್ಟರು, ಯಾಜಕರು ತುತ್ತೂರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಊದಿದರು.When Judah turned and discovered that the battle was both before and behind them, they cried out to the LORD. Then the priests blew the trumpets,

15ಅನಂತರ ಜನರು ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ದೇವರು ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನನ್ನೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನೂ ಅಬೀಯನಿಂದಲೂ ಹಾಗೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಂದಲೂ ಅಪಜಯಗೊಳಿಸಿದನು.and the men of Judah raised the battle cry. And when they raised the cry, God routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಎದುರಿನಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.So the Israelites fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hands.

17ಅಬೀಯನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಭಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಹತರಾಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದವರು ಐದು ಲಕ್ಷ ಮಂದಿ.Then Abijah and his people struck them with a mighty blow, and 500,000 chosen men of Israel fell slain.

18ಹೀಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು; ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಜಯಶಾಲಿಗಳಾದರು.Thus the Israelites were subdued at that time, and the men of Judah prevailed because they relied on the LORD, the God of their fathers.

19ಅಬೀಯನು, ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ, ಅವನಿಂದ ಬೇತೇಲ್, ಯೆಷಾನಾ, ಎಪ್ರೋನ್ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡನು.Abijah pursued Jeroboam and captured some cities from him: Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron, along with their villages.

20ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಅಬೀಯನ ಜೀವಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬಲಗೊಳ್ಳಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಾಧಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಸತ್ತನು.Jeroboam did not again recover his power during the days of Abijah, and the LORD struck him down and he died.

21ಅಬೀಯನು ಬಲಗೊಂಡನು; ಅವನು ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರಿಂದ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಹದಿನಾರು ಮಂದಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಪಡೆದನು.But Abijah grew strong, married fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

22ಅಬೀಯನ ಉಳಿದ‍ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯೂ ಅವನ ನಡೆನುಡಿಗಳೂ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಾದ ಇದ್ದೋವಿನ ಚರಿತ್ರೆ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುತ್ತವೆ.Now the rest of the acts of Abijah, along with his ways and his words, are written in the Treatise of the Prophet Iddo.
