1ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನೂ, ಅಹಜ್ಯನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಯೆಹೋವಾಷನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತ ಮೂರನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೇಹುವಿನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹದಿನೇಳು ವರ್ಷ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.In the twenty-third year of the reign of Joash son of Ahaziah over Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria seventeen years.

2ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಡದೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರೋಹಿಯಾದನು.And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and followed the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit; he did not turn away from them.

3ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಜಾಯೇಲನ ಕೈಗೂ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನ ಕೈಗೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನ ಜೀವಮಾನದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅವರ ಅಧೀನದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು.So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He delivered them continually into the hands of Hazael king of Aram and his son Ben-hadad.

4ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಮೊರೆಯಿಟ್ಟನು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನ ಮೊರೆಯನ್ನು ಲಾಲಿಸಿದನು.ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಿಂದ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಬಾಧಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ,Then Jehoahaz sought the favor of the LORD, and the LORD listened to him because He saw the oppression that the king of Aram had inflicted on Israel.

5ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಟಾಕ್ಷವಿಟ್ಟು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ರಕ್ಷಕನನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಾಗಿ ಮೊದಲಿನಂತೆ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತರಾಗಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವವರಾದರು.So the LORD gave Israel a deliverer, and they escaped the power of the Arameans. Then the people of Israel lived in their own homes as they had before.

6ಆದರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಮನೆಯವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದರು. ಅದನ್ನು ಬಿಡಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶೇರ ವಿಗ್ರಹಸ್ತಂಭವು ಇದ್ದೇ ಇತ್ತು.Nevertheless, they did not turn away from the sins that the house of Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit, but they continued to walk in them. The Asherah pole even remained standing in Samaria.

7ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನಿಗೆ ಐವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ರಾಹುತರು, ಹತ್ತು ರಥಗಳು, ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಕಾಲಾಳುಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಳಿದರು. ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ಬೇರೆ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಕಣದ ಧೂಳಿನಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.Jehoahaz had no army left, except fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand foot soldiers, because the king of Aram had destroyed them and made them like the dust at threshing.

8ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನ ಉಳಿದ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯೂ, ಅವನ ಶೂರಕೃತ್ಯಗಳ ವಿವರವೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ರಾಜಕಾಲವೃತ್ತಾಂತ ಎಂಬ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುತ್ತವೆ.As for the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, along with all his accomplishments and his might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

9ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನು ತನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಲು ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋವಾಷನು ಅರಸನಾದನು.And Jehoahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And his son Jehoash reigned in his place.

10ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋವಾಷನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಮೂವತ್ತೇಳನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವಾಷನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹದಿನಾರು ವರ್ಷ ಆಳಿದನು.In the thirty-seventh year of the reign of Joash over Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years.

11ಇವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಡದೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರೋಹಿಯಾದನು.And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and did not turn away from all the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit, but he walked in them.

12ಯೋವಾಷನ ಉಳಿದ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯೂ, ಅವನ ಶೂರ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳೂ, ಇವನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಮಚ್ಯನು ಎಂಬವನೊಡನೆ ನಡಿಸಿದ ಯುದ್ಧದ ವಿವರವೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ರಾಜಕಾಲವೃತ್ತಾಂತ ಎಂಬ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುತ್ತವೆ.As for the rest of the acts of Jehoash, along with all his accomplishments and his might, including his war against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

13ಯೋವಾಷನು ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಲು ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಸಮಾರ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ರಾಜಸ್ಮಶಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು. ಇವನ ತರುವಾಯ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವನ್ನೇರಿದನು.And Jehoash rested with his fathers, and Jeroboam succeeded him on the throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲೀಷನು ಮರಣಕರವಾದ ರೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಯಾದನು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋವಾಷನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, <<ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೇ, ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೇ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ರಥರಥಾಶ್ವಬಲಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದವನೇ>> ಎಂದು ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾ ಅವನ ಮುಖದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಅತ್ತನು.When Elisha had fallen sick with the illness from which he would die, Jehoash king of Israel came down to him and wept over him, saying, “My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!”

15ಆಗ ಎಲೀಷನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, <<ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನೂ, ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನೂ ತರಿಸು>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅವನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡನು.Elisha told him, “Take a bow and some arrows.” So Jehoash took a bow and some arrows.

16ಆಗ ಎಲೀಷನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, <<ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೋ>> ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಅವನ ಕೈಮೇಲಿಟ್ಟನು.Then Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow.” So the king put his hand on the bow, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.

17ಎಲೀಷನು, <<ಮೂಡಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಗಿರುವ ಕಿಟಕಿಯನ್ನು ತೆರೆ>> ಎಂದನು. ಅವನು ತೆರೆದನು. ಅನಂತರ ಎಲೀಷನು, <<ಬಾಣವನ್ನು ಎಸೆ>> ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ಎಸೆಯಲು ಎಲೀಷನು, <<ಇದು ಜಯಪ್ರದವಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಬಾಣ; ಅರಾಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸುವ ಬಾಣ. ನೀನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಅಫೇಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿಬಿಡುವಿ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.“Open the east window,” said Elisha. So he opened it and Elisha said, “Shoot!” So he shot. And Elisha declared: “This is the LORD’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram, for you shall strike the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”

18ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಎಲೀಷನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, <<ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ>> ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಎಲೀಷನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, <<ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ನೆಲವನ್ನು ಹೊಡಿ>> ಎಂದನು. ಅವನು ಮೂರು ಸಾರಿ ಹೊಡೆದು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನಿಂತನು.Then Elisha said, “Take the arrows!” So he took them, and Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground!” So he struck the ground three times and stopped.

19ಆಗ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, <<ನೀನು ಐದಾರು ಸಾರಿ ಹೊಡೆಯಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರೆ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ನಿರ್ನಾಮವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವವರೆಗೂ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಜಯದೊರಕುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ನೀನು ಮೂರೇ ಸಾರಿ ಹೊಡೆದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಸಾರಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸೋಲಿಸುವಿ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.But the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to it. But now you will strike down Aram only three times.”

20ಎಲೀಷನು ಮೃತಿ ಹೊಂದಲು, ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಅವರು ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು. ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರು ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಗುಂಪು ಗುಂಪಾಗಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.And Elisha died and was buried. Now the Moabite raiders used to come into the land every spring.

21ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಜನರು ಒಬ್ಬ ಸತ್ತವನನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ, ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಗುಂಪು ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಶವವನ್ನು ಎಲೀಷನ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಾಡಿ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ಸತ್ತ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ದೇಹವು ಎಲೀಷನ ಎಲುಬುಗಳಿಗೆ ತಗಲಿದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವನು ಜೀವ ಬಂದು ಎದ್ದು ನಿಂತನು.Once, as the Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders, so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. And as soon as his body touched the bones of Elisha, the man was revived and stood up on his feet.

22ಆದರೆ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಜಾಯೇಲನು ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಪೀಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.And Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel throughout the reign of Jehoahaz.

23ಆದರೂ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರನ್ನು ಈ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಿಂದ ತಳ್ಳಿಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ತಾನು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ್, ಇಸಾಕ್, ಯಾಕೋಬರೊಡನೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೆನಪು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಯೆ ತೋರಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಅನುಕಂಪಗೊಂಡನು.But the LORD was gracious to Israel and had compassion on them, and He turned toward them because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And to this day, the LORD has been unwilling to destroy them or cast them from His presence.

24ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಜಾಯೇಲನು ಮರಣಹೊಂದಲು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಅರಸನಾದನು.When Hazael king of Aram died, his son Ben-hadad reigned in his place.

25ಯೆಹೋವಾಹಾಜನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವಾಷನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಜಾಯೇಲನು ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ಹದದನಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡನು. ಯೋವಾಷನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಸಾರಿ ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡನು.Then Jehoash son of Jehoahaz took back from Ben-hadad son of Hazael the cities that Hazael had taken in battle from his father Jehoahaz. Jehoash defeated Ben-hadad three times, and so recovered the cities of Israel.
