1 ULB ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಹದಿನೆಂಟನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಹಾಬನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋರಾಮನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ವರ್ಷ ಆಳಿದನು. BSB BSB: In the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat’s reign over Judah, Jehoram son of Ahab became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria twelve years.
2 ULB ಇವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳಷ್ಟು ದುಷ್ಟನಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರೋಹಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಬಾಳನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಸ್ತಂಭ, ಸ್ಮಾರಕಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿದನು. BSB BSB: And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as his father and mother had done. He removed the sacred pillar of Baal that his father had made.
3 ULB ಆದರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಡಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. BSB BSB: Nevertheless, he clung to the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit; he did not turn away from them.
5 ULB ಆದರೆ ಅಹಾಬನು ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದ ನಂತರ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದನು. BSB BSB: But after the death of Ahab, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
6 ULB ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋರಾಮನು ಕೂಡಲೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದನು. BSB BSB: So at that time King Jehoram set out from Samaria and mobilized all Israel.
7 ULB ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನಿಗೆ ದೂತರ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ, <<ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ನನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನೂ ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುತ್ತೀಯೋ?>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, <<ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನೂ ನೀನೂ, ನನ್ನ ಜನರೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರೂ, ನನ್ನ ಕುದುರೆಗಳೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕುದುರೆಗಳೂ ಒಂದೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೋ>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. BSB BSB: And he sent a message to Jehoshaphat king of Judah: “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?” “I will go,” replied Jehoshaphat. “I am as you are, my people are your people, and my horses are your horses.”
8 ULB ಮತ್ತೆ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, <<ಯಾವ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಕು?>> ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದಾಗ ಯೋರಾಮನು, <<ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ>> ಎಂದನು. BSB BSB: Then he asked, “Which way shall we go up?” “By way of the Desert of Edom,” replied Joram.
9 ULB ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ, ಎದೋಮ್ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಅರಸರು ಹೊರಟು ಸುತ್ತು ಬಳಸು ದಾರಿಯಿಂದ ಏಳು ದಿನಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಸೈನಿಕರಿಗೂ, ಅವರು ತಂದ ಪಶುಗಳಿಗೂ ನೀರು ಸಿಕ್ಕದೆ ಹೋಯಿತು. 10 ULB ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸರು, <<ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸರಾದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ>> ಎಂದು ಗೋಳಾಡಿದರು. BSB BSB: “Alas,” said the king of Israel, “for the LORD has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab!”
11 ULB ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, <<ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಬಲ್ಲವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ?>> ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ಶಾಫಾಟನ ಮಗನು, ಎಲೀಯನ ಕೈಗೆ ನೀರು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವನೂ ಆದ ಎಲೀಷನೆಂಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಇಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. BSB BSB: But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no prophet of the LORD here? Let us inquire of the LORD through him.” And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”
12 ULB ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, <<ಅವನು ಹೇಗೂ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುವನು>> ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್, ಎದೋಮ್ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಅರಸರು ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನೊಡನೆ ಎಲೀಷನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು. BSB BSB: Jehoshaphat affirmed, “The word of the LORD is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
13 ULB ಎಲೀಷನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, <<ನನಗೂ ನಿನಗೂ ಏನು ಸಂಬಂಧ? ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು, <<ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಡ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸರಾದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದನಲ್ಲವೇ?>> ಎಂದನು. BSB BSB: Elisha, however, said to the king of Israel, “What have we to do with each other? Go to the prophets of your father and of your mother!” “No,” replied the king of Israel, “for it is the LORD who has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
14 ULB ಆಗ ಎಲೀಷನು, <<ನಾನು ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಾಣೆ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿರದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. BSB BSB: Then Elisha said, “As surely as the LORD of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, were it not for my regard for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you or acknowledge you.
15 ULB ಈಗ, ಒಬ್ಬ ವಾದ್ಯಗಾರನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ವಾದ್ಯಗಳ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವಾಗಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಎಲೀಷನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಬಲವು ಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. BSB BSB: But now, bring me a harpist.” And while the harpist played, the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha
16 ULB ಅನಂತರ ಎಲೀಷನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, <<ಈ ಹಳ್ಳದಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಾ ಗುಂಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿರಿ. BSB BSB: and he said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Dig this valley full of ditches.’
17 ULB <ನೀವು ಗಾಳಿ, ಮಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣದಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅದು ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬುವುದು. ನೀವೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕುರಿದನಗಳೂ, ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಬಹುದು> ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೆ. BSB BSB: For the LORD says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but the valley will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your animals.’
18 ULB <<ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವೂ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿರುವುದು. ಅದೇ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವನು. BSB BSB: This is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD, and He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
19 ULB ನೀವು ಅವರ ಕೋಟೆಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನೂ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಊರುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಮರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿ, ಒರತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಹೊಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಸಿ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವಿರಿ>> ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದನು. BSB BSB: And you shall attack every fortified city and every city of importance. You shall cut down every good tree, stop up every spring, and ruin every good field with stones.”
20 ULB ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೈವೇದ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸುವ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಕನೆ ಎದೋಮಿನ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ನೀರು ಬಂದು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. BSB BSB: The next morning, at the time of the morning sacrifice, water suddenly flowed from the direction of Edom and filled the land.
21 ULB ಅರಸರು ತಮಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆಂಬುವುದನ್ನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರು ಕೇಳಿ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಲು ಶಕ್ತರಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಗಡಿಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು. BSB BSB: Now all the Moabites had heard that the kings had come up to fight against them. So all who could bear arms, young and old, were summoned and stationed at the border.
22 ULB ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ, ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದ ನೀರು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿತು. ಸೂರ್ಯಪ್ರಕಾಶದಿಂದ ಆ ನೀರು ರಕ್ತದಂತೆ ಕೆಂಪಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. BSB BSB: When they got up early in the morning, the sun was shining on the water, and it looked as red as blood to the Moabites across the way.
23 ULB ಇವರು, <<ಅದು ರಕ್ತ! ಅರಸರು ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಜಗಳವಾಡಿ ಸಂಹಾರರಾಗಿರಬೇಕು. ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರೇ ಏಳಿರಿ, ಸುಲಿಗೆಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ!>> ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪಾಳೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರು. BSB BSB: “This is blood!” they exclaimed. “The kings have clashed swords and slaughtered one another. Now to the plunder, Moab!”
24 ULB ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಎದ್ದು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಓಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರು. BSB BSB: But when the Moabites came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and attacked them, and they fled before them. So the Israelites invaded their land and struck down the Moabites.
25 ULB ಅವರು ದೇಶದೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಹೊಲಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದರು. ಒರತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ, ಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿದರು. ಕೀರ್ಹರೆಷೆತ್ ಎಂಬ ಒಂದು ಮಾರ್ಗ ಉಳಿಯಿತು. ಕವಣೆಹೊಡೆಯುವವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆದರು. BSB BSB: They destroyed the cities, and each man threw stones on every good field until it was covered. They stopped up every spring and cut down every good tree. Only Kir-haraseth was left with stones in place, but men with slings surrounded it and attacked it as well.
26 ULB ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ತಾನು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆಲ್ಲಲಾರೆನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು, ಏಳು ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಭಟರೊಡನೆ, ಸೈನ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಆಗದೆಹೋಯಿತು. BSB BSB: When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not prevail.
