1 ULB ಅನಂತರ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ <<ಅಂಜಬೇಡ, ಕಳವಳಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ; ಎದ್ದು ಭಟರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಆಯಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗು. ನೋಡು, ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನ ಅರಸ, ಪ್ರಜೆ, ನಗರ, ಸೀಮೆ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid or discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. See, I have delivered into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.
2 ULB ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿಗೂ ಅದರ ಅರಸನಿಗೂ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆಯೇ ಆಯಿಗೂ ಅದರ ಅರಸನಿಗೂ ಮಾಡು. ಆದರೆ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯನ್ನೂ ಪಶುಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಿಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಆ ಊರಿನ ಹಿಂಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡಿರಲಿ>> ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: And you shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king, except that you may carry off their plunder and livestock for yourselves. Set up an ambush behind the city.”
3 ULB ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಎದ್ದು ಭಟರೆಲ್ಲರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಆಯಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಸಿದ್ಧನಾಗಿ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ BSB BSB: So Joshua and the whole army set out to attack Ai. Joshua chose 30,000 mighty men of valor and sent them out at night
4 ULB <<ನೀವು ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕಿ ಕುಳಿತಿರಬೇಕು. ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಹುದೂರವಾಗಿರಬೇಡಿರಿ; ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿರಿ. BSB BSB: with these orders: “Pay attention. You are to lie in ambush behind the city, not too far from it. All of you must be ready.
5 ULB ನಾನೂ ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವೆವು. ಅವರು ಮೊದಲಿನಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ನಾವು ಓಡಿ ಹೋಗುವೆವು. BSB BSB: Then I and all the troops with me will advance on the city. When they come out against us as they did the first time, we will flee from them.

7 ULB ನಾವೂ ಅವರೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ದೂರವಾದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ನೀವು ಹೊಂಚಿ ಕುಳಿತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅದನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವನು. BSB BSB: you are to rise from the ambush and seize the city, for the LORD your God will deliver it into your hand.
8 ULB ನೀವು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹೊತ್ತಿಸಿರಿ. ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತಿನಂತೆ ನಡೆಯಿರಿ. ಇದೇ ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಆಜ್ಞೆ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: And when you have taken the city, set it on fire. Do as the LORD has commanded! See, I have given you orders.”
9 ULB ಅವರು ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೂ ಆಯಿಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯನ್ನು ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆದನು. BSB BSB: So Joshua sent them out, and they went to the place of ambush and lay in wait between Bethel and Ai, to the west of Ai. But Joshua spent that night among the people.
10 ULB ಅವನು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಅವರ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಆಯಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟನು. BSB BSB: Joshua got up early the next morning and mobilized his men, and he and the elders of Israel marched before them up to Ai.
11 ULB ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಭಟರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಗಟ್ಟಾಹತ್ತಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅದರ ಉತ್ತರದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಅವರಿಗೂ ಆಯಿಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ಒಂದು ತಗ್ಗು ಇತ್ತು. BSB BSB: Then all the troops who were with him marched up and approached the city. They arrived in front of Ai and camped to the north of it, with the valley between them and the city.
12 ULB ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಹೆಚ್ಚುಕಡಿಮೆ ಐದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೂ ಆಯಿಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ಇರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚಿನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಇರಿಸಿದನು. BSB BSB: Now Joshua had taken about five thousand men and set up an ambush between Bethel and Ai, to the west of the city.
13 ULB ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಉತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚಿನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ಕ್ರಮಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಣಿವೆಗೆ ಹೋದನು. BSB BSB: So the forces were stationed with the main camp to the north of the city and the rear guard to the west of the city. And that night Joshua went into the valley.
14 ULB ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನ ಅರಸನು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಇದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟನು. ಅವನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಅರಾಬಾ ಎಂಬ ಕಣಿವೆಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಕಾಣುವ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು. ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚಿನೋಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. BSB BSB: When the king of Ai saw the Israelites, he hurried out early in the morning with the men of the city to engage them in battle at an appointed place overlooking the Arabah. But he did not know that an ambush had been set up against him behind the city.
15 ULB ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಾವು ಸೋತವರೋ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಅರಣ್ಯಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಓಡತೊಡಗಿದರು. BSB BSB: Joshua and all Israel let themselves be beaten back before them, and they fled toward the wilderness.
16 ULB ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣದವರು ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ತಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ದೂರವಾಗಿ ಓಡತೊಡಗಿದರು. BSB BSB: Then all the men of Ai were summoned to pursue them, and they followed Joshua and were drawn away from the city.
17 ULB ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬೇತೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಒಬ್ಬ ಗಂಡಸಾದರೂ ಉಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಊರಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಹೊರಟರು. BSB BSB: Not a man was left in Ai or Bethel who did not go out after Israel, leaving the city wide open while they pursued Israel.
18 ULB ಯೆಹೋವನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ <<ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಚಾಚು; ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ>> ಎನ್ನಲು ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿದನು. BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Hold out your battle lance toward Ai, for into your hand I will deliver the city.” So Joshua held out his battle lance toward Ai,
19 ULB ಅವನು ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಹೊಂಚಿನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು ತಾವಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ಓಡಿಬಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹಚ್ಚಿದರು. BSB BSB: and as soon as he did so, the men in ambush rose quickly from their position. They rushed forward, entered the city, captured it, and immediately set it on fire.
20 ULB ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನ ಜನರು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹೊಗೆಯು ಆಕಾಶದೆತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿಹೋಗುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಯಾವ ಮಾರ್ಗದಿಂದಲೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರದೆ ಇದ್ದರು. ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವವರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿದರು. BSB BSB: When the men of Ai turned and looked back, the smoke of the city was rising into the sky. They could not escape in any direction, and the troops who had fled to the wilderness now turned against their pursuers.
21 ULB ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಹೊಂಚಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನವಾದದ್ದನ್ನೂ, ಹೊಗೆಯು ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದು ಆಯಿ ಊರಿನ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರು. BSB BSB: When Joshua and all Israel saw that the men in ambush had captured the city and that smoke was rising from it, they turned around and struck down the men of Ai.
22 ULB ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿದವರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನವರು ಆ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ಈ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ಇದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಬಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ಉಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಯಾವನೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. BSB BSB: Meanwhile, those in the ambush came out of the city against them, and the men of Ai were trapped between the Israelite forces on both sides. So Israel struck them down until no survivor or fugitive remained.
23 ULB ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಜೀವಸಹಿತ ಹಿಡಿದು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು. BSB BSB: But they took the king of Ai alive and brought him to Joshua.
24 ULB ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅರಣ್ಯದವರೆಗೂ ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಬಂದ ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನವರನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರು. BSB BSB: When Israel had finished killing all the men of Ai who had pursued them into the field and wilderness, and when every last one of them had fallen by the sword, all the Israelites returned to Ai and put it to the sword as well.
25 ULB ಆ ದಿನ ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತ ಗಂಡಸರ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಂಗಸರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ. BSB BSB: A total of twelve thousand men and women fell that day—all the people of Ai.
26 ULB ಪಟ್ಟಣದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹತರಾಗುವವರೆಗೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಈಟಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಚಾಚಿದ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂದೆಗೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. BSB BSB: Joshua did not draw back the hand that held his battle lance until he had devoted to destruction all who lived in Ai.
27 ULB ಯೆಹೋವನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಪಶು ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಮೊದಲಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡರು. BSB BSB: Israel took for themselves only the cattle and plunder of that city, as the LORD had commanded Joshua.
28 ULB ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಸುಟ್ಟು ಅದು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ತಿರುಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗದಂತೆ ಹಾಳುದಿಬ್ಬವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅದು ಇಂದಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಉಳಿದಿದೆ. BSB BSB: So Joshua burned Ai and made it a permanent heap of ruins, a desolation to this day.
29 ULB ಆಯಿ ಊರಿನ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದವರೆಗೂ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ನೇತು ಹಾಕಿಸಿ ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಅಸ್ತಮಿಸುವಾಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಕೆಳಗಿಳಿಸಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಊರಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿಸಿ ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ದೊಡ್ಡ ರಾಶಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಸಿದನು. ಅದು ಇಂದಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಇದೆ. BSB BSB: He hung the king of Ai on a tree until evening, and at sunset Joshua commanded that they take down the body from the tree and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And over it they raised a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day.
32 ULB ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರ ಸಮಕ್ಷಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೋಶೆಯ ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರತಿಯನ್ನು ಬರೆದನು. BSB BSB: And there in the presence of the Israelites, Joshua inscribed on the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he had written.
33 ULB ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು, ಅಂದರೆ ಹಿರಿಯರು, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು, ಪರದೇಶದವರೂ ಹಾಗೂ ಸ್ವದೇಶಸ್ಥರೂ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಎಡಬಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತ ಲೇವಿಯರಾದ ಯಾಜಕರ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡರು. ಗೆರಿಜ್ಜೀಮ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕಡೆ ಅರ್ಧಜನರೂ, ಏಬಾಲ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕಡೆ ಅರ್ಧ ಜನರೂ, ಹೀಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಮೋಶೆಯು ಮೊದಲೇ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ನುಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ನಿಂತರು. BSB BSB: All Israel, foreigners and citizens alike, with their elders, officers, and judges, stood on both sides of the ark of the covenant of the LORD facing the Levitical priests who carried it. Half of the people stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded earlier, to bless the people of Israel.
34 ULB ಅನಂತರ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಶೀರ್ವಾದದ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಶಾಪವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಆ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಓದಿದನು. BSB BSB: Afterward, Joshua read aloud all the words of the law—the blessings and the curses—according to all that is written in the Book of the Law.
35 ULB ಮೋಶೆಯು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನೂ ಬಿಡದೆ ಹೆಂಗಸರಿಗೂ, ಚಿಕ್ಕವರಿಗೂ, ಪರದೇಶದವರಿಗೂ ಕೇಳಿಸುವಂತೆ ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹದ ಮುಂದೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಓದಿದನು. BSB BSB: There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua failed to read before the whole assembly of Israel, including the women, the little ones, and the foreigners who lived among them.
