1ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ನಾನು ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿದೆನು; ದ್ವಾರಪಾಲಕರನ್ನೂ, ಗಾಯಕರನ್ನೂ, ಲೇವಿಯರನ್ನೂ ನೇಮಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.When the wall had been rebuilt and I had set the doors in place, the gatekeepers, singers, and Levites were appointed.

2ಆನಂತರ ನನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಹನಾನಿಗೂ, ಬಹಳ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತನೂ ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವನೂ, ಕೋಟೆಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯೂ ಆದ ಹನನ್ಯನಿಗೂ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದೆನು.Then I put my brother Hanani in charge of Jerusalem, along with Hananiah the commander of the fortress, because he was a faithful man who feared God more than most.

3ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, <<ಬಿಸಿಲೇರುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆಯಬಾರದು; ಕಾವಲುಗಾರರು ಇನ್ನೂ ಇರುವಾಗಲೇ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸಬೇಕು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳೊಳಗೆ ಕಾವಲುಗಾರರನ್ನು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿರಿ, ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾವಲಿನ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಮನೆಯ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕಾವಲಿರುವಂತೆ ನೇಮಿಸಬೇಕು>> ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದೆನು.And I told them, “Do not open the gates of Jerusalem until the sun is hot. While the guards are on duty, keep the doors shut and securely fastened. And appoint the residents of Jerusalem as guards, some at their posts and some at their own homes.”

4ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದರೊಳಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಇದ್ದರು. ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಕಟ್ಟಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.Now the city was large and spacious, but there were few people in it, and the houses had not yet been rebuilt.

5ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ದೇವರ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯಿಂದ ಗಣ್ಯರನ್ನು, ಶ್ರೀಮಂತರನ್ನೂ, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಸಾಧಾರಣ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಜನಗಣತಿಗಾಗಿ ಸಭೆಸೇರಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ಬಂದವರ ಹೆಸರುಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯು ನನಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ,Then my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles, the officials, and the people to be enrolled by genealogy. I found the genealogical register of those who had first returned, and I found the following written in it:

6ಬಾಬೆಲೋನಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನಿಂದ ಸೆರೆಯಾಗಿ ಒಯ್ಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವರು ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವದೇಶವಾದ ಯೆಹೂದ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಸ್ವಂತ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಗೂ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೂ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದರು.These are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles carried away to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar its king. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,

7ಅವರು ಜೆರುಬ್ಬಾಬೆಲ್, ಯೇಷೂವ, ನೆಹೆಮೀಯ. ಅಜರ್ಯ, ರಗಮ್ಯ, ನಹಮಾನೀ, ಮೊರ್ದೆಕೈ, ಬಿಲ್ಷಾನ್, ಮಿಸ್ಪೆರೆತ್, ಬಿಗ್ವೈ, ನೆಹೂಮ್, ಬಾಣ ಎಂಬ ನಾಯಕರೊಡನೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯಾರೆಂದರೆ:accompanied by Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, and Baanah. This is the count of the men of Israel:

8ಪರೋಷಿನವರು- 2,172.the descendants of Parosh, 2,172;

9ಶೆಫಟ್ಯನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 372.the descendants of Shephatiah, 372;

10ಆರಹನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 652.the descendants of Arah, 652;

11ಪಹತ್ ಮೋವಾಬಿನವರಾದ ಯೇಷೂವ ಮತ್ತು ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 2,818.the descendants of Pahath-moab (through the line of Jeshua and Joab), 2,818;

12ಏಲಾಮಿನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 1,254.the descendants of Elam, 1,254;

13ಜತ್ತೂವಿನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 845.the descendants of Zattu, 845;

14ಜಕ್ಕೈಯನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 760.the descendants of Zaccai, 760;

39ಯಾಜಕರಲ್ಲಿ- ಯೆದಾಯನ ಸಂತಾನದವರಾದ ಯೇಷೂವನ ಮನೆಯವರು- 973.The priests: the descendants of Jedaiah (through the house of Jeshua), 973;

40ಇಮ್ಮೇರನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 1,052.the descendants of Immer, 1,052;

41ಪಷ್ಹೂರನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 1,247.the descendants of Pashhur, 1,247;

43ಲೇವಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ- ಹೋದವ್ಯನ ಸಂತಾನದವರಾದ ಯೇಷೂವ, ಕದ್ಮೀಯೇಲ್ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 74.The Levites: the descendants of Jeshua (through Kadmiel, through the line of Hodevah), 74.

45ದ್ವಾರಪಾಲಕರಲ್ಲಿ; ಶಲ್ಲೂಮ್, ಆಟೇರ್, ಟಲ್ಮೋನ್, ಅಕ್ಕೂಬ್, ಹಟೀಟಾ, ಶೋಬೈ ಇವರ ಸಂತಾನದವರು ಒಟ್ಟು- 138.The gatekeepers: the descendants of Shallum, the descendants of Ater, the descendants of Talmon, the descendants of Akkub, the descendants of Hatita, and the descendants of Shobai, 138 in all.

46ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ; ಜೀಹ, ಹಸೂಫ, ಟಬ್ಬಾವೋತ್ ಸಂತಾನದರು,The temple servants: the descendants of Ziha, the descendants of Hasupha, the descendants of Tabbaoth,

47ಕೇರೋಸ್, ಸೀಯ, ಪಾದೋನ್ ಸಂತಾನದರು,the descendants of Keros, the descendants of Sia, the descendants of Padon,

48ಲೆಬಾನ, ಹಗಾಬ, ಸಲ್ಮೈ ಸಂತಾನದರು,the descendants of Lebanah, the descendants of Hagabah, the descendants of Shalmai,

49ಹಾನಾನ್, ಗಿದ್ದೇಲ್, ಗಹರ್ ಸಂತಾನದರು,the descendants of Hanan, the descendants of Giddel, the descendants of Gahar,

50ರೆವಾಯ, ರೆಚೀನ್, ನೆಕೋದ ಸಂತಾನದರು,the descendants of Reaiah, the descendants of Rezin, the descendants of Nekoda,

51ಗಜ್ಜಾಮ್, ಉಜ್ಜ, ಪಾಸೇಹ ಸಂತಾನದವರು,the descendants of Gazzam, the descendants of Uzza, the descendants of Paseah,

52ಬೇಸೈ, ಮೆಯನೀಮ್, ನೆಫೀಷೆಸೀಮ್ ಸಂತಾನದವರು,the descendants of Besai, the descendants of Meunim, the descendants of Nephushesim,

53ಬಕ್ಬೂಕ್, ಹಕ್ಕೂಫ, ಹರ್ಹೂರ್ ಸಂತಾನದವರು,the descendants of Bakbuk, the descendants of Hakupha, the descendants of Harhur,

54ಬಚ್ಲೂತ್, ಮೆಹೀದ, ಹರ್ಷ ಸಂತಾನದವರುthe descendants of Bazlith, the descendants of Mehida, the descendants of Harsha,

55ಬರ್ಕೋಸ್, ಸೀಸೆರ, ತೆಮಹ ಸಂತಾನದವರು,the descendants of Barkos, the descendants of Sisera, the descendants of Temah,

56ನೆಚೀಹ, ಹಟೀಫ ಸಂತಾನದವರು.the descendants of Neziah, and the descendants of Hatipha.

57ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ- ಸೋಟೈ, ಸೋಫೆರೆತ್, ಪೆರೀದನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು,The descendants of the servants of Solomon: the descendants of Sotai, the descendants of Sophereth, the descendants of Perida,

58ಯಾಲ, ದರ್ಕೋನ್, ಗಿದ್ದೇಲ್ ಸಂತಾನದವರು,the descendants of Jaala, the descendants of Darkon, the descendants of Giddel,

59ಶೆಫಟ್ಯ, ಹಟ್ಟೀಲ್, ಪೋಕೆರೆತ್ ಹಚ್ಚೆಬಾಯೀಮ್, ಆಮೋನ್ ಸಂತಾನದವರು.the descendants of Shephatiah, the descendants of Hattil, the descendants of Pochereth-hazzebaim, and the descendants of Amon.

60ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಸೇವಕರು ಒಟ್ಟು 392 ಮಂದಿ.The temple servants and descendants of the servants of Solomon numbered 392 in all.

61ತೇಲ್ಮೆಲಹ, ತೇಲ್ಹರ್ಷ, ಕೆರೂಬ್, ಆದ್ದೋನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಇಮ್ಮೇರ್, ಎಂಬ ಊರುಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂದವರಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳ ವಂಶಾವಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ತಾವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾರದವರಾದ,The following came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer, but they could not prove that their families were descended from Israel:

62ದೆಲಾಯ, ಟೋಬೀಯ, ನೆಕೋದ ಇವರ ಸಂತಾನದವರು- 642.the descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, and the descendants of Nekoda, 642 in all.

63ಯಾಜಕರಲ್ಲಿ: ಹೋಬಾಯ, ಹಕ್ಕೋಚ್, ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈ ಇವರ ಸಂತಾನದವರು ತಮ್ಮ ವಂಶಾವಳಿಯ ದಾಖಲೆ ತೋರಿಸಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದರು. ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈ ಎಂಬುವನು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯನಾದ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈಯ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬಾಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು.And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai (who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).

64ಇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ವಂಶಾವಳಿ ಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿದರೂ ಅವು ಸಿಕ್ಕದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವರನ್ನು ಅಶುದ್ಧರೆಂದು ಯಾಜಕೋದ್ಯೋಗದಿಂದ ತಳ್ಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು.These men searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.

65ಊರೀಮ್ ಮತ್ತು ತುಮ್ಮೀಮುಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ದೈವನಿರ್ಣಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಬಲ್ಲವನಾದ ಯಾಜಕನು ಬರುವ ತನಕ ಇವರು ಮಹಾಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಭೋಜನ ಮಾಡಬಾರದೆಂಬುದಾಗಿ ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.The governor ordered them not to eat the most holy things until there was a priest to consult the Urim and Thummim.

66ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹದವರ ಒಟ್ಟು ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯು ನಲ್ವತ್ತೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರದ ಮುನ್ನೂರ ಅರವತ್ತಾಗಿತ್ತು.The whole assembly numbered 42,360,

67ಈ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಲ್ಪಡದ ಅವರ ಸೇವಕ ಸೇವಕಿಯರು ಏಳು ಸಾವಿರದ ಮುನ್ನೂರ ಮೂವತ್ತೇಳು ಮಂದಿ. ಅವರ ಗಾಯಕರೂ ಗಾಯಕಿಯರೂ ಇನ್ನೂರ ನಲ್ವತ್ತೈದು ಮಂದಿ.in addition to their 7,337 menservants and maidservants, as well as their 245 male and female singers.

68ಅವರಿಗೆ ಏಳು ನೂರ ಮೂವತ್ತಾರು ಕುದುರೆಗಳೂ, ಇನ್ನೂರ ನಲ್ವತ್ತೈದು ಹೇಸರಗತ್ತೆಗಳೂ,They had 736 horses, 245 mules,

69ನಾನೂರ ಮೂವತ್ತೈದು ಒಂಟೆಗಳೂ ಆರು ಸಾವಿರದ ಏಳುನೂರಿಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳೂ ಇದ್ದವು.435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys.

70ಗೋತ್ರಪ್ರಧಾನರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಕೆಲಸಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಧನ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ತಿರ್ಷಾತಾ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಭಂಡಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟದ್ದು ಸಾವಿರ ಬಂಗಾರದ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳು, ಐವತ್ತು ಬೋಗುಣಿಗಳು, ಐನೂರಮೂವತ್ತು ಯಾಜಕವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳು.Some of the heads of the families contributed to the project. The governor gave to the treasury 1,000 darics of gold, 50 bowls, and 530 priestly garments.

71ಬೇರೆ ಕೆಲವು ಮಂದಿ ಗೋತ್ರಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ಭಂಡಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟದ್ದು- ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಬಂಗಾರದ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳು, ಒಂದು ಲಕ್ಷದ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ತೊಲಾ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ;And some of the heads of the families gave to the treasury for the project 20,000 darics of gold and 2,200 minas of silver.

72ಉಳಿದ ಜನರು ಕೊಟ್ಟದ್ದು ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಬಂಗಾರದ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳು, ಒಂದು ಲಕ್ಷ ತೊಲಾ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ, ಅರುವತ್ತೇಳು ಯಾಜಕವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು.The rest of the people gave a total of 20,000 darics of gold, 2,000 minas of silver, and 67 priestly garments.

73ಹೀಗೆ ಯಾಜಕರು, ಲೇವಿಯರು, ದ್ವಾರಪಾಲಕರು, ಗಾಯಕರು, ಸಾಧಾರಣ ಜನರು ಸೇರಿದವರು, ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಸೇವಕರು ಅಂತೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸ ಮಾಡತೊಡಗಿದರು.So the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, and temple servants, along with some of the people and the rest of the Israelites, settled in their own towns. And by the seventh month the Israelites had settled in their towns.
