1. 1LDBUmɛn ĩdũwũwa umbi Urhɛm ukpuku udzowe urhɛ, uwu ha aka awe ri inggbaashia, uwu ha umɛn iki igũ, uwu ha umɛn iki inyã ra asumɛn, uwu ha umɛn iki inyã ni ibanga nggu abokmɛn.BSBBSB: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
2. 2LDBUrhɛ ha udzeka. Umɛn inyãmɛn umgbɔ ni idzowe ideka umgbɔ. Umɛn ĩdũwũwa umbi urhɛ uwu ugbagbaa, uku uwe nggu Utɛ nu udzeka ru umɛn.BSBBSB: And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3. 3LDBUmɛn ĩdũwũwa umbi ubinkpi umɛn iki inyã ni igũ, ngge ima itsu umbi awe ri ikikɔng iwɛrhɛ nggu umɛn. Iwɛrhamɛn iwu nggu Utɛ nu Ungwɛ̃nga Uyesu Ukiristo.BSBBSB: We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4. 4LDBUmɛn itsɛng akɛrɛ ngge itsú anggɔmmɛn atsuafɛr.BSBBSB: We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
5. 5LDBIsarhe ha iyɛ umɛn iki igũ ru unga ni ĩdũwũwa umbi, Unum awu irhirhang. Ru unga uzĩ ushikpɔ uko ukunjiir.BSBBSB: And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6. 6LDBUmɛn ĩba ĩgɔr ugɛ umɛn iwemɛn ri iwɛrhɛ nggu unga bɔr ni izɛ̃rhã ru uzĩ, umɛn igbɛrangwĩ ni isi ikorhumɛn idzidzɛrhe.BSBBSB: If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7. 7LDBBɔr umɛn ĩba izɛ̃rhã ri irhirhang, ru nyaka unga aka awe ri irhirhang, umɛn iwemɛn ri iwɛrhɛ nggu adɔka, nu adzirh Uyesu, Ungwɛ̃nga, asorh umɛn ra arhimmɛn kishoo.BSBBSB: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8. 8LDBUmɛn ĩba ĩgɔr ugɛ umɛn ishimɛn ra arhim, umɛn irhɛm atsimɛn nu idzidzɛrhe ishingge ru umɛn.BSBBSB: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9. 9LDBBɔr umɛn ĩba isɔmmɛn arhimmɛn, Unum awu uner idzidzɛrhe na arhika, awuri itsũwũka arhimmɛn na asorhuwa umɛn ri kishoo ida irhirhikamɛn.BSBBSB: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10. 10LDBUmɛn ĩba igɔr ugɛ umɛn isi ikorhumɛn arhim, umɛn itsu unga awu uner igbɛrangwĩ nu arherhanga ashike ra amɛnmɛn.BSBBSB: If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
