Hosea 12 (LUT) · Opened

1Ephraim weidet sich am Winde und läuft dem Ostwind nach und macht täglich der Abgötterei und des Schadens mehr; sie machen mit Assur einen Bund und bringen Balsam nach Ägypten.Ephraim feeds on the wind and pursues the east wind all day long; he multiplies lies and violence; he makes a covenant with Assyria and sends olive oil to Egypt.

2Darum wird der HERR mit Juda rechten und Jakob heimsuchen nach seinem Wesen und ihm vergelten nach seinem Verdienst.The LORD has a charge to bring against Judah. He will punish Jacob according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds.

3Er hat in Mutterleibe seinen Bruder an der Ferse gehalten, und in seiner Kraft hat er mit Gott gekämpft.In the womb he grasped his brother’s heel, and in his vigor he wrestled with God.

4Er kämpfte mit dem Engel und siegte, denn er weinte und bat ihn; auch hat er ihn ja zu Beth-El gefunden, und daselbst hat er mit uns geredet.Yes, he struggled with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought His favor; he found Him at Bethel and spoke with Him there—

5Aber der HERR ist der Gott Zebaoth; HERR ist sein Name.the LORD God of Hosts, the LORD is His name of renown.

6So bekehre dich nun zu deinem Gott, und halte Barmherzigkeit und Recht und hoffe stets auf deinen Gott.But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and always wait on your God.

7Aber Kanaan hat eine falsche Waage in seiner Hand und betrügt gern.A merchant loves to defraud with dishonest scales in his hands.

8Und Ephraim spricht: Ich bin reich, ich habe genug; man wird in aller meiner Arbeit keine Missetat finden, die Sünde sei.And Ephraim boasts: “How rich I have become! I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors, they can find in me no iniquity that is sinful.”

9Ich aber, der HERR, bin dein Gott aus Ägyptenland her, und der dich noch in den Hütten wohnen läßt, wie man zur Festzeit pflegt,But I am the LORD your God ever since the land of Egypt. I will again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the appointed feast.

10und rede zu den Propheten; und ich bin's, der so viel Weissagung gibt und durch die Propheten sich anzeigt.I spoke through the prophets and multiplied their visions; I gave parables through the prophets.

11In Gilead ist Abgötterei, darum werden sie zunichte; und in Gilgal opfern sie Ochsen, darum sollen ihre Altäre werden wie die Steinhaufen an den Furchen im Felde.Is there iniquity in Gilead? They will surely come to nothing. Do they sacrifice bulls in Gilgal? Indeed, their altars will be heaps of stones in the furrows of the field.

12Jakob mußte fliehen in das Land Syrien, und Israel mußte um ein Weib dienen, und um ein Weib mußte er hüten.Jacob fled to the land of Aram and Israel worked for a wife—for a wife he tended sheep.

13Aber hernach führte der HERR Israel aus Ägypten durch einen Propheten und ließ ihn hüten durch einen Propheten.But by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.

14Nun aber erzürnt ihn Ephraim durch seine Götzen; darum wird ihr Blut über sie kommen, und ihr HERR wird ihnen vergelten ihre Schmach, die sie ihm antun.Ephraim has provoked bitter anger, so his Lord will leave his bloodguilt upon him and repay him for his contempt.
