1त्या काळात जेव्हा शिनारचा राजा अम्राफेल, एल्लासाराचा राजा अर्योक, एलामाचा राजा केदोरलाओमेर व गोयीमाचा राजा तिदाल यांनी,In those days Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim

2सदोमाचा राजा बेरा, गमोराचा राजा बिर्शा, अदमाहचा राजा शिनाब, सबोईमाचा राजा शमेबर आणि बेलाचा म्हणजे सोअराचा राजा यांच्याशी युद्ध केले.went to war against Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).

3दुसर्या गटाचे सर्व राजे सिद्दिमाच्या म्हणजे (मृत समुद्राच्या खोर्यात) एकत्र जमले.The latter five came as allies to the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).

6आणि होरी लोकांच्या टोळीला सेईर डोंगरात मार देऊन रानाच्या हद्दीवर असलेल्या एल-पारान येथपर्यंत पिटाळून लावले.and the Horites in the area of Mount Seir, as far as El-paran, which is near the desert.

7पुढे ज्याला कादेश असे नाव मिळाले, त्या एन मिशपात (अर्थात् कादेश) आणि अमालेकी लोकांचा, संपूर्ण प्रदेश व हससोन-तामार येथे राहणार्या अमोरी यांचाही त्यांनी पराभव केला.Then they turned back to invade En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and they conquered the whole territory of the Amalekites, as well as the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-tamar.

8पण आता सदोमाचा राजा, गमोराचा राजा, अदमाहचा राजा, सबोईमचा राजा आणि बेला म्हणजे सोअराचा राजा यांनी सिद्दीमच्या खोर्यात हल्ला करण्याची तयारी केली.Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out and arrayed themselves for battle in the Valley of Siddim

9ते एलामाचा राजा केदोरलाओमेर, गोयीमाचा राजा तिदाल, शिनाराचा राजा अम्राफेल आणि एल्लासाराचा राजा अर्योक यांच्याविरुद्ध लढले. ते पाच राजे विरुद्ध चार राजे असे लढले.against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar—four kings against five.

11चार राजांनी सदोम आणि गमोरा येथील मालमत्ता व अन्नसामुग्री लुटली आणि ते निघून गेले.The four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food, and they went on their way.

12सदोम येथे राहणारा अब्रामाचा पुतण्या लोट यालाही त्याच्या मालकीच्या सर्व वस्तूंसह ते घेऊन गेले.They also carried off Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, since Lot was living in Sodom.

13या लढाईत वाचलेला एक मनुष्य इब्री अब्रामाकडे पळून आला व त्याने ही बातमी त्याला सांगितली. त्यावेळी अब्राम, अमोरी मम्रे याच्या एला राईत तळ देऊन राहिला होता. अष्कोल व आनेर हे दोघे मम्रेचे भाऊ होते व त्यांनी अब्रामासोबत करार केला होता.Then an escapee came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living near the Oaks of Mamre the Amorite, a brother of Eshcol and Aner, all of whom were bound by treaty to Abram.

14लोटाला कैद करून नेल्याचे अब्रामाला समजल्याबरोबर त्याने आपल्या कुटुंबात जन्मलेल्या तीनशेअठरा प्रशिक्षित पुरुषांना बरोबर घेतले आणि घरी परतणार्या विजयी सैन्याचा थेट दानपर्यंत पाठलाग केला.And when Abram heard that his relative had been captured, he mobilized the 318 trained men born in his household, and they set out in pursuit as far as Dan.

17केदोरलाओमेर व त्याचे मित्र असलेल्या इतर राजांचा पराभव करून अब्राम परत चालला असताना सदोमचा राजा शावेहच्या खोर्यात (या खोर्यास पुढे राजांचे खोरे असे नाव पडले) त्याला भेटावयास आला.After Abram returned from defeating Chedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).

18शालेमचा राजा मलकीसदेक जो परात्पर परमेश्वराचा याजक होता, तो अब्रामाला भाकर व द्राक्षारस घेऊन आला.Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine—since he was priest of God Most High—

19आणि त्याने अब्रामाला आशीर्वाद देऊन म्हटले, “आकाश व पृथ्वी यांचा निर्माणकर्ते परात्पर परमेश्वराद्वारे अब्राम आशीर्वादित असो.and he blessed Abram and said: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,

20ज्या सर्वसमर्थ परमेश्वराने तुझे शत्रू तुझ्या हाती दिले ते परमेश्वर धन्यवादित असो.” मग अब्रामाने मलकीसदेकाला सर्वांचा दहावा भाग दिला.and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything.

21सदोमच्या राजाने अब्रामाला म्हटले, “लोक मला द्या आणि मालमत्ता तुम्ही ठेवा.”The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people, but take the goods for yourself.”

22यावर अब्रामाने सदोमाच्या राजाला उत्तर दिले, “आकाश व पृथ्वी यांना निर्माण करणारा परात्पर याहवेह परमेश्वर यांना मी हात उंच करून वचन दिले आहे,But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the LORD God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,

23‘मी अब्रामाला श्रीमंत बनविले आहे,’ असे तुला कधीही म्हणता येऊ नये म्हणून मी तुझ्यापासून सुतळीचा एक दोरा किंवा जोड्याचा बंदही घेणार नाही.that I will not accept even a thread, or a strap of a sandal, or anything that belongs to you, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’

24माझ्या या तरुण माणसांनी जेवढे अन्न खाल्ले आहे तेवढ्यांचाच मी स्वीकार करेन, मात्र माझे मित्र आनेर, अष्कोल आणि मम्रे यांना त्यांचा वाटा मिळो.”I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share for the men who went with me—Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. They may take their portion.”
