2चाबकांच्या फटकार्यांचा आवाज, चाकांचा खडखडाट, चौखूर धावणारे घोडे आणि हिसके देणारे रथ!The crack of the whip, the rumble of the wheel, galloping horse and bounding chariot!

3आक्रमक घोडेस्वारांची पलटण लखलखणार्या तलवारी चमचमणारे भाले! पडलेली अनेक प्रेते, सर्वत्र मृतांचे ढीग, अगणित मृत शरीरे, प्रेतांना अडखळून पडणारे लोक—Charging horseman, flashing sword, shining spear; heaps of slain, mounds of corpses, dead bodies without end—they stumble over their dead—

8नाईल नदीकाठी वसलेल्या, सर्व बाजूंनी पाण्याने घेरलेल्या थेबेस नगरीपेक्षा तू अधिक चांगली आहेस काय? नदीच तिला संरक्षण देते, नदीच तिची तटबंदी आहे.Are you better than Thebes, stationed by the Nile with water around her, whose rampart was the sea, whose wall was the water?

12तुझे सर्व गड अंजिरांच्या झाडासारखे होतील त्यांच्या प्रथम पिकलेल्या फळांगत; जेव्हा ते हलविले जातात, तेव्हा ते नेमके खाणाऱ्याच्या तोंडात पडतात.All your fortresses are fig trees with the first ripe figs; when shaken, they fall into the mouth of the eater!

13तुझ्या सैन्य-दलांकडे पाहा— ते सर्व दुर्बल आहेत. तुझ्या देशाच्या वेशी तुझ्या शत्रूंसाठी सताड उघडलेल्या आहेत; तुझ्या वेशीच्या सळया अग्नीने भस्म केल्या आहेत.Look at your troops—they are like your women! The gates of your land are wide open to your enemies; fire consumes their bars.

14तुला पडणार्या वेढ्यासाठी पाण्याचा साठा करून ठेव, तुझे किल्ले मजबूत कर! चिखल तुडवून ठेव, चिखलाचा गारा साच्यांत भर, वीटकाम दुरुस्त कर!Draw your water for the siege; strengthen your fortresses. Work the clay and tread the mortar; repair the brick kiln!

15तिथे तुला अग्नी भस्म करेल; तलवार तुला कापून टाकेल— एखाद्या टोळधाडीप्रमाणे ते तुला गिळंकृत करतील. नाकतोड्यासारखे बहुगुणित व्हा, टोळांसारखे बहुगुणित व्हा!There the fire will devour you; the sword will cut you down and consume you like a young locust. Make yourself many like the young locust; make yourself many like the swarming locust!

16तू तुझ्या व्यापार्यांची संख्या वाढविली आहे त्यांची संख्या आकाशातील तार्यांपेक्षाही जास्त वाढली आहे, परंतु ते एखाद्या टोळधाडीप्रमाणे संपूर्ण भूमी ओरबाडून टाकतात व मग ते उडून जातात.You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of the sky. The young locust strips the land and flies away.

When the sun rises, they fly away, and no one knows where.

18हे अश्शूरच्या राजा, तुझे मेंढपाळ डुलकी घेतात; तुझे प्रतिष्ठित लोक विश्रांती घेण्यासाठी पहुडले आहेत. तुझे लोक डोंगरांवर विखुरले आहेत त्यांना एकत्र करण्यास कोणीही नाही.O king of Assyria, your shepherds slumber; your officers sleep. Your people are scattered on the mountains with no one to gather them.

19तुला कशानेही आरोग्य मिळणार नाही; तुझी जखम घातक आहे. तुझ्या दुर्दशेची बातमी जे कोणी ऐकतील ते सर्वजण आनंदाने टाळ्या वाजवितील, तुझ्या क्रूरतेचा उपद्रव ज्याला झाला नाही, असा कोण आहे?There is no healing for your injury; your wound is severe. All who hear the news of you applaud your downfall, for who has not experienced your constant cruelty?
