6Muntu ke butaka muntu. Kasi Mpeve ke butaka mpeve.Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit.

7Na yina, kuyituka ve samu ti mu me tubila nge: “Nge fwana kubutuka dyaka.”Do not be amazed that I said, ‘You must be born again.’

Yawu kele mutindu mosi mpe na muntu yina ke ya kubutuka na Mpeve.»The wind blows where it wishes. You hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

9Nikodeme yufulaka dyaka: «Wapi mutindu yawu lenda kusalama?»“How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.

10Yesu vutulaka: «Nge kele mulongisi ya Misiku na yinsi ya Isayeli, mpe nge zaba yawu ve?“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and you do not understand these things?

11Ya tsyelika, mu ke na kuzabisa nge: Beto ke na kuzonzila mambu yina beto zaba, mpe beto ke na kuzabisa mambu yina beto talaka. Kasi beno ke na kundima ve kimbangi ya beto.Truly, truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, and yet you people do not accept our testimony.

12Kana beno ke na kukwikila munu ve ntangu mu ke na kuzabisa beno mambu ya yinza, wapi mutindu beno ke kwikila munu ntangu mu ke zabisa beno mambu ya mazulu?If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

13Ata muntu me kwendaka na mazulu, kaka ni Mwana ya Muntu yina katukaka kisika kele Nzambi.»No one has ascended into heaven except the One who descended from heaven—the Son of Man.

14Mutindu Moyize zangulaka nyoka na yinti na yinsi ya kuyuma, ni mutindu yina mpe, ba ke zangula Mwana ya Muntu,Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

15samu ti bantu nyonso yina ke sala kiminu na yandi kuzwa luzingu ya seko.that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life.

16Ya tsyelika, Nzambi zolaka mingi bantu. Ni yawu yina, yandi fidisaka Mwana ya yandi kaka mosi, samu ti konso muntu yina ke kwikila yandi kufwa ve, kasi kuzwa luzingu ya seko.For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

17«Nzambi fidisaka Mwana ya yandi na yinza samu na kufundisa bantu ve, kasi samu na kuvuukisa bawu.For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

18Muntu yina ke na kusala kiminu na yandi ke kuzwa ve kitumbu. Kasi muntu yina ke na kukwikila yandi ve me kuzwaka kitumbu, samu ti yandi me sala ve kiminu na Mwana kaka mosi ya Nzambi.Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

19Yayi kele mambu yina ke nataka lufundusu: Nsemo kwizaka na yinza, kasi bantu zolaka mingi mpimpa kulutila nsemo samu na mavanga ya yimbi ya bawu.And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil.

20Konso muntu yina ke salaka mambu ya yimbi ke zolaka ve nsemo. Yandi ke mangaka na kukwiza na sika ya nsemo, samu ti mavanga ya yimbi ya yandi talana ve.Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

21Kasi, muntu yina ke sadilaka butsyelika ke kwizaka na sika ya nsemo, samu ti nsemo lakisa ti yandi ke tumamaka na Nzambi.»But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.”

Bantu vwandaka kwenda na sika ya Yowane samu na kubotama.Now John was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because the water was plentiful there, and people kept coming to be baptized.

25Ndambu ya bilandi ya Yowane kuzwaka kimoko na Zwife mosi na mambu yina me tala mutindu ya kuvedisa nzutu.Then a dispute arose between John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the issue of ceremonial washing.

26Bawu kwendaka na sika ya Yowane, mpe zabisaka yandi: «Mulongisi, nge ke na kubambuka moyo na muntu yina vwandaka na nge na lweka ya nkaka ya nzadi ya Yolodani, mpe yina nge salaka kimbangi? Ntangu yayi, yandi ke na kubotika, mpe bantu nyonso ke na kukwenda na sika ya yandi.»So John’s disciples came to him and said, “Look, Rabbi, the One who was with you beyond the Jordan, the One you testified about—He is baptizing, and everyone is going to Him.”

27Yowane vutulaka: «Muntu lenda kuzwa kima ve kana Nzambi me pesa yandi yawu ve.John replied, “A man can receive only what is given him from heaven.

28Beno lenda kusala kimbangi ya munu ti konso ntangu, mu vwandaka tuba: Mu kele ve Masiya, kasi mu kele muntu yina ba fidisaka ntete yandi kwiza.You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but am sent ahead of Him.’

29«Na mukembo ya makwela, muntu yina ke kwelaka kento ni yandi bakala ya kento yina. Ndiku ya bakala kele pene-pene na bakala, mpe ke na kuwa yandi. Yandi ke na nsayi mingi na kuwa ndinga ya yandi. Ni mutindu yina mu ke na nsayi, mpe ntangu yayi, yawu kele ya kulutila.The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom stands and listens for him, and is overjoyed to hear the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.

30Yandi fwana kuzanguka, mpe mu fwana kukuluka.He must increase; I must decrease.

31«Muntu yina me katuka na zulu me lutila bantu nyonso mfunu. Kasi muntu yina me butuka awa na ntoto kele muntu ya yinza yayi, mpe ke zonzilaka mambu ya yinza yayi. Muntu yina me katuka na zulu me lutila bantu nyonso mfunu.The One who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks as one from the earth. The One who comes from heaven is above all.

32Yandi ke salaka kimbangi na mambu yina yandi talaka mpe kuwaka, kasi bantu ke na kundima yawu ve.He testifies to what He has seen and heard, yet no one accepts His testimony.

33Muntu yina ke na kundima kimbangi ya yandi ke na kulakisa ti Nzambi ke tubaka butsyelika.Whoever accepts His testimony has certified that God is truthful.

34Muntu yina Nzambi fidisaka ke tubaka mambu ya Nzambi, samu ti Nzambi pesaka yandi Mpeve ya kufuluka.For the One whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.

35Tata ke zolaka Mwana ya yandi, mpe tulaka bima nyonso na lutumu ya yandi.The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in His hands.

36Muntu yina ke na kukwikila Mwana ya Nzambi ke na luzingu ya seko. Muntu yina ke na kukwikila yandi ve ke kuzwa luzingu ve, kasi Nzambi ke vwanda na nkele na yandi.»Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. Whoever rejects the Son will not see life. Instead, the wrath of God remains on him.”
