1 ULB ശമൂവേൽബാലൻ ഏലിയുടെ ശിക്ഷ്ണത്തിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്ത് പോന്നു; ആ കാലത്ത് യഹോവയുടെ വചനം വളരെ കുറവായിരുന്നു; ദർശനങ്ങളും അധികം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. BSB BSB: And the boy Samuel ministered to the LORD before Eli. Now in those days the word of the LORD was rare, and visions were scarce.
2 ULB ഒരിക്കൽ ഏലി തന്റെ മുറിയിൽ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി; അവന്റെ കാഴ്ചശക്തി മങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. BSB BSB: And at that time Eli, whose eyesight had grown so dim that he could not see, was lying in his room.
3 ULB ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം ഇരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിളക്ക് അണയുന്നതിനു മുൻപെ ശമൂവേൽ ചെന്ന് കിടന്നു. BSB BSB: Before the lamp of God had gone out, Samuel was lying down in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was located.
4 ULB യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനെ വിളിച്ചു: “അടിയൻ” എന്നു് അവൻ വിളികേട്ടു ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കലേക്ക് ഓടിച്ചെന്നു: “അടിയൻ ഇതാ; അങ്ങ് എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവോ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. BSB BSB: Then the LORD called to Samuel, and he answered, “Here I am.”
5 ULB “ഞാൻ വിളിച്ചില്ല; പോയി കിടന്നുകൊൾക” എന്നു ഏലി പറഞ്ഞു; അവൻ പോയി കിടന്നു. BSB BSB: He ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you have called me.” “I did not call,” Eli replied. “Go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down.
6 ULB യഹോവ പിന്നെയും “ശമൂവേലേ!” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. ശമൂവേൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഓടി ചെന്നു: “അടിയൻ ഇതാ; അങ്ങ് എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവോ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ഞാൻ വിളിച്ചില്ല, മകനേ; പോയി കിടന്നുകൊൾക” എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. BSB BSB: Once again the LORD called, “Samuel!” So Samuel got up, went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you have called me.” “My son, I did not call,” Eli replied. “Go back and lie down.”
7 ULB ശമൂവേൽ അന്നുവരെ യഹോവയെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവന് വെളിപ്പെട്ടതുമില്ല. BSB BSB: Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, because the word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him.
8 ULB യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനെ മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യവും വിളിച്ചു. വീണ്ടും അവൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: “അടിയൻ ഇതാ; അങ്ങ് എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയായിരുന്നു ബാലനെ വിളിച്ചത് എന്ന് ഏലിക്ക് മനസ്സിലായി. BSB BSB: Once again, for the third time, the LORD called to Samuel. He got up, went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you have called me.” Then Eli realized that it was the LORD who was calling the boy.
9 ULB ഏലി ശമൂവേലിനോട്: “പോയി കിടന്നുകൊൾക; ഇനിയും നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചാൽ: യഹോവേ, അരുളിച്ചെയ്യേണമേ; അടിയൻ കേൾക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞുകൊള്ളേണം. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേൽ തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്ത് ചെന്നുകിടന്നു. BSB BSB: “Go and lie down,” he said to Samuel, “and if He calls you, say, ‘Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 ULB അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ വന്ന് മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ: “ശമൂവേലേ, ശമൂവേലേ,” എന്ന് വിളിച്ചു. അതിന് ശമൂവേൽ: “അരുളിച്ചെയ്യണമേ; അടിയൻ കേൾക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു. BSB BSB: Then the LORD came and stood there, calling as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.”
11 ULB യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തത്: “ഇതാ, ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു കാര്യം ചെയ്യും; അത് കേൾക്കുന്നവർ ഞെട്ടും. BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Samuel, “I am about to do something in Israel at which the ears of all who hear it will tingle.
12 ULB ഞാൻ ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും ഞാൻ അന്ന് അവന്റെമേൽ ആദ്യം മുതൽ അവസാനംവരെ പൂർത്തീകരിക്കും. BSB BSB: On that day I will carry out against Eli everything I have spoken about his house, from beginning to end.
13 ULB അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ ദൈവദൂഷണം പറയുന്ന പാപം അവൻ അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.എന്നിട്ടും അവൻ മക്കളെ ശാസിച്ച് തടഞ്ഞില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന് എന്നേക്കും ശിക്ഷ വിധിക്കും” എന്ന് ഞാൻ അവനോട് കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. BSB BSB: I told him that I would judge his house forever for the iniquity of which he knows, because his sons blasphemed God and he did not restrain them.
14 ULB ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനം ചെയ്ത പാപത്തിന്, യാഗത്താലും വഴിപാടിനാലും ഒരു കാലത്തും പരിഹാരം വരികയില്ല എന്ന് ഞാൻ സത്യംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. BSB BSB: Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli, ‘The iniquity of Eli’s house shall never be atoned for by sacrifice or offering.’”
15 ULB പിന്നെ ശമൂവേൽ രാവിലെവരെ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി; രാവിലെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകൾ തുറന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഈ ദർശനം ഏലിയെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ശമൂവേൽ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു. BSB BSB: Samuel lay down until the morning; then he opened the doors of the house of the LORD. He was afraid to tell Eli the vision,
16 ULB ഏലി ശമൂവേലിനെ വിളിച്ചു:“ശമൂവേലേ, മകനേ.” “അടിയൻ ഇതാ”എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. BSB BSB: but Eli called to him and said, “Samuel, my son.” “Here I am,” answered Samuel.
17 ULB അപ്പോൾ ഏലി: “നിനക്കുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട് എന്ത്? എന്നോട് ഒന്നും മറച്ചു വെക്കരുതേ; നിന്നോടു് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ഒരു വാക്കെങ്കിലും എന്നോടു് പറയാതിരുന്നാൽ ദൈവം നിന്നോട് അങ്ങനെ തന്നെയോ, അതിലധികമോ ചെയ്യട്ടെ” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു. BSB BSB: “What was the message He gave you?” Eli asked. “Do not hide it from me. May God punish you, and ever so severely, if you hide from me anything He said to you.”
18 ULB അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേൽ സകലവും അവനെ അറിയിച്ചു; ഒന്നും മറച്ചു വെച്ചില്ല. അപ്പോൾ ഏലി: “യഹോവയാണല്ലോ ഇത് അരുളിചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്; അവിടുത്തെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്യട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. BSB BSB: So Samuel told him everything and did not hide a thing from him. “He is the LORD,” replied Eli. “Let Him do what is good in His eyes.”
19 ULB ശമൂവേൽ വളർന്നു, യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ വചനങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നും നിഷ്ഫലമാകുവാൻ ഇട വരുത്തിയില്ല. BSB BSB: And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and He let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground.
20 ULB ദാൻമുതൽ ബേർ-ശേബാവരെ ഉള്ള യിസ്രായേൽ ജനമൊക്കെയും ശമൂവേൽ യഹോവയുടെ വിശ്വസ്തപ്രവാചകൻ എന്ന് ഗ്രഹിച്ചു. BSB BSB: So all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the LORD.
21 ULB യഹോവ ശീലോവിൽവച്ച് ശമൂവേലിന് യഹോവയുടെ വചനത്താൽ വെളിപ്പെട്ടശേഷം, വീണ്ടും ശീലോവിൽവച്ച് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി. BSB BSB: And the LORD continued to appear at Shiloh, because there He revealed Himself to Samuel by His word.
