1എന്റെ ജനമേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുവിൻ; എന്റെ വായിലെ മൊഴികൾക്ക് നിങ്ങളുടെ ചെവി ചായിക്കുവിൻ.A Maskil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my instruction; listen to the words of my mouth.

2ഞാൻ ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിക്കുവാൻ വായ് തുറക്കും; പുരാതനകടങ്കഥകളെ ഞാൻ പറയും.I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the beginning,

3നാം അവയെ കേട്ടറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ നമ്മളോട് പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.that we have heard and known and our fathers have relayed to us.

4നാം നമ്മുടെ മക്കളോട് അവയെ മറച്ചുവയ്ക്കാതെ വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറയോട് യഹോവയുടെ സ്തുതിയും ബലവും അവൻ ചെയ്ത അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളും വിവരിച്ചുപറയും.We will not hide them from their children but will declare to the next generation the praises of the LORD and His might and the wonders He has performed.

5അവൻ യാക്കോബിൽ ഒരു സാക്ഷ്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം നിയമിച്ചു; അവയെ അവരുടെ മക്കളെ അറിയിക്കുവാൻ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോട് കല്പിച്ചു.For He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children,

6വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറ, ജനിക്കുവാനിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കൾ തന്നെ, അവയെ ഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും എഴുന്നേറ്റ് തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോട് അറിയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.that the coming generation would know them—even children yet to be born—to arise and tell their own children

7അവർ അവരുടെ ആശ്രയം ദൈവത്തിൽ വയ്ക്കുകയും അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ മറന്നുകളയാതെ അവന്റെ കല്പനകൾ പ്രമാണിച്ചുനടക്കുകയുംthat they should put their confidence in God, not forgetting His works, but keeping His commandments.

8അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപോലെ ശാഠ്യവും മത്സരവും ഉള്ള തലമുറയായി ഹൃദയത്തെ സ്ഥിരമാക്കാതെ, ദൈവത്തോട് അവിശ്വസ്തമനസ്സുള്ള ഒരു തലമുറയായി തീരാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിനു തന്നെ.Then they will not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose heart was not loyal, whose spirit was not faithful to God.

9ആയുധം ധരിച്ച വില്ലാളികളായ എഫ്രയീമ്യർ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിൽ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞുപോയി.The archers of Ephraim turned back on the day of battle.

10അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല; അവന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു നടന്നു.They failed to keep God’s covenant and refused to live by His law.

11അവർ അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളും അവരെ കാണിച്ച അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.They forgot what He had done, the wonders He had shown them.

12അവൻ ഈജിപ്റ്റ്ദേശത്ത്, സോവാൻ വയലിൽവച്ച് അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കൺ മുമ്പിൽ, അത്ഭുതം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.He worked wonders before their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.

13അവൻ സമുദ്രത്തെ വിഭാഗിച്ച്, അതിൽകൂടി അവരെ കടത്തി; അവൻ വെള്ളത്തെ ചിറപോലെ നില്ക്കുമാറാക്കി.He split the sea and brought them through; He set the waters upright like a wall.

14പകൽസമയത്ത് അവൻ മേഘംകൊണ്ടും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അഗ്നിപ്രകാശംകൊണ്ടും അവരെ നടത്തി.He led them with a cloud by day and with a light of fire all night.

15അവൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പാറകളെ പിളർന്നു ആഴികളാൽ എന്നപോലെ അവർക്ക് ധാരാളം കുടിക്കുവാൻ കൊടുത്തു.He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink as abundant as the seas.

16പാറയിൽനിന്ന് അവൻ അരുവികളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; വെള്ളം നദികളെപ്പോലെ ഒഴുകുമാറാക്കി.He brought streams from the stone and made water flow down like rivers.

17എങ്കിലും അവർ അവനോട് പാപം ചെയ്തു; അത്യുന്നതനോട് മരുഭൂമിയിൽവച്ച് മത്സരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.But they continued to sin against Him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.

18അവർ കൊതിക്കുന്ന ഭക്ഷണം ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് അവർ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു.They willfully tested God by demanding the food they craved.

19അവർ ദൈവത്തിനു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചു: “മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മേശ ഒരുക്കുവാൻ ദൈവത്തിനു കഴിയുമോ?”They spoke against God, saying, “Can God really prepare a table in the wilderness?

20അവൻ പാറയെ അടിച്ചു, വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു, തോടുകളും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകി, സത്യം; “എന്നാൽ അപ്പംകൂടി തരുവാൻ അവന് കഴിയുമോ? തന്റെ ജനത്തിന് അവൻ മാംസം വരുത്തി കൊടുക്കുമോ?” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.When He struck the rock, water gushed out and torrents raged. But can He also give bread or supply His people with meat?”

21ആകയാൽ യഹോവ അതു കേട്ട് കോപിച്ചു; യാക്കോബിന്റെ നേരെ തീ ജ്വലിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ കോപവും പൊങ്ങി.Therefore the LORD heard and was filled with wrath; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and His anger flared against Israel,

22അവർ ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും അവന്റെ രക്ഷയിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യായ്കയാൽ തന്നെ.because they did not believe God or rely on His salvation.

23അവൻ മീതെ മേഘങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചു; ആകാശത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു.Yet He commanded the clouds above and opened the doors of the heavens.

24അവർക്കു തിന്നുവാൻ മന്ന വർഷിപ്പിച്ചു; സ്വർഗ്ഗീയധാന്യം അവർക്കു കൊടുത്തു.He rained down manna for them to eat; He gave them grain from heaven.

25മനുഷ്യർ ദൂതന്മാരുടെ അപ്പം തിന്നു; അവൻ അവർക്ക് തൃപ്തിയാകുംവണ്ണം ആഹാരം അയച്ചു.Man ate the bread of angels; He sent them food in abundance.

26അവൻ ആകാശത്തിൽ കിഴക്കൻകാറ്റ് അടിപ്പിച്ചു; തന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റുവരുത്തി.He stirred the east wind from the heavens and drove the south wind by His might.

27അവൻ അവർക്കു പൊടിപോലെ മാംസത്തെയും കടൽപുറത്തെ മണൽപോലെ പക്ഷികളെയും വർഷിപ്പിച്ചു;He rained meat on them like dust, and winged birds like the sand of the sea.

28അവരുടെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലും പാർപ്പിടങ്ങളുടെ ചുറ്റിലും അവയെ പൊഴിച്ചു.He felled them in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings.

29അങ്ങനെ അവർ തിന്ന് തൃപ്തരായി. അവർ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചത് അവൻ അവർക്കു കൊടുത്തു.So they ate and were well filled, for He gave them what they craved.

30അവരുടെ കൊതിക്കു മതിവന്നില്ല; ഭക്ഷണം അവരുടെ വായിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നെ,Yet before they had filled their desire, with the food still in their mouths,

31ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കോപം അവരുടെമേൽ വന്നു; അവരുടെ അതിശക്തന്മാരിൽ ചിലരെ കൊന്നു യിസ്രായേലിലെ യൗവനക്കാരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.God’s anger flared against them, and He put to death their strongest and subdued the young men of Israel.

32ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും അവർ പിന്നെയും പാപം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളെ വിശ്വസിച്ചതുമില്ല.In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; despite His wonderful works, they did not believe.

33അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൻ അവരുടെ നാളുകളെ ശ്വാസം പോലെയും അവരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളെ അതിവേഗത്തിലും കഴിയുമാറാക്കി.So He ended their days in futility, and their years in sudden terror.

34അവൻ അവരെ കൊല്ലുമ്പോൾ അവർ അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; അവർ തിരിഞ്ഞ് ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ദൈവത്തെ തിരയും.When He slew them, they would seek Him; they repented and searched for God.

35ദൈവം അവരുടെ പാറ എന്നും അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവം അവരുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരൻ എന്നും അവർ ഓർക്കും.And they remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer.

36എങ്കിലും അവർ വായ്കൊണ്ട് അവനോട് കപടം സംസാരിക്കും നാവുകൊണ്ട് അവനോട് ഭോഷ്ക് പറയും.But they deceived Him with their mouths, and lied to Him with their tongues.

37അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അവനിൽ സ്ഥിരമായിരുന്നില്ല; അവന്റെ നിയമത്തോട് അവർ വിശ്വസ്തത കാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.Their hearts were disloyal to Him, and they were unfaithful to His covenant.

38എങ്കിലും അവൻ കരുണയുള്ളവനാകുകകൊണ്ട് അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിച്ചു; തന്റെ ക്രോധം മുഴുവനും ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കാതെ തന്റെ കോപം പലപ്പോഴും അടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.And yet He was compassionate; He forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them. He often restrained His anger and did not unleash His full wrath.

39അവർ കേവലം ജഡം അത്രെ എന്നും മടങ്ങിവരാതെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കാറ്റുപോലെ എന്നും അവൻ ഓർത്തു.He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.

40മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അവർ എത്ര തവണ അവനോട് മത്സരിച്ചു! ശൂന്യദേശത്ത് എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം അവനെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു!How often they disobeyed Him in the wilderness and grieved Him in the desert!

41അവർ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ മുഷിപ്പിച്ചു.Again and again they tested God and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

42ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ അടയാളങ്ങളും സോവാൻവയലിൽ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും ചെയ്ത അവന്റെ കൈയുംThey did not remember His power—the day He redeemed them from the adversary,

43അവൻ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കൈയിൽ നിന്ന് അവരെ വിടുവിച്ച ദിവസവും അവർ ഓർമ്മിച്ചില്ല.when He performed His signs in Egypt and His wonders in the fields of Zoan.

44അവൻ അവരുടെ നദികളെയും തോടുകളെയും അവർക്കു കുടിക്കുവാൻ കഴിയാത്ത വിധം രക്തമാക്കിത്തീർത്തു.He turned their rivers to blood, and from their streams they could not drink.

45അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഈച്ചയെ അയച്ചു; അവ അവരെ അരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു: തവളയെയും അയച്ചു അവ അവർക്കു നാശം ചെയ്തു.He sent swarms of flies that devoured them, and frogs that devastated them.

46അവരുടെ വിള അവൻ തുള്ളനും അവരുടെ പ്രയത്നം വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കും കൊടുത്തു.He gave their crops to the grasshopper, the fruit of their labor to the locust.

47അവൻ അവരുടെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളികളെ കന്മഴകൊണ്ടും അവരുടെ കാട്ടത്തിവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെ ആലിപ്പഴം കൊണ്ടും നശിപ്പിച്ചു.He killed their vines with hailstones and their sycamore-figs with sleet.

48അവൻ അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ കന്മഴക്കും അവരുടെ ആട്ടിൻകൂട്ടങ്ങളെ ഇടിത്തീയ്ക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചു.He abandoned their cattle to the hail and their livestock to bolts of lightning.

49അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ തന്റെ കോപാഗ്നിയും ക്രോധവും രോഷവും കഷ്ടവും അയച്ചു; അനർത്ഥദൂതന്മാരുടെ ഒരു ഗണത്തെ തന്നെ.He unleashed His fury against them, wrath, indignation, and calamity—a band of destroying angels.

50അവൻ തന്റെ കോപത്തിന് ഒരു പാത ഒരുക്കി, അവരുടെ പ്രാണനെ മരണത്തിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ ജീവനെ മഹാവ്യാധിക്ക് ഏല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.He cleared a path for His anger; He did not spare them from death but delivered their lives to the plague.

51അവൻ ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ എല്ലാ കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെയും ഹാമിന്റെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരുടെ വീര്യത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യഫലത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.He struck all the firstborn of Egypt, the virility in the tents of Ham.

52എന്നാൽ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ അവൻ ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആട്ടിൻകൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ അവരെ നടത്തി.He led out His people like sheep and guided them like a flock in the wilderness.

53അവൻ അവരെ നിർഭയമായി നടത്തുകയാൽ അവർക്ക് ഭയമുണ്ടായില്ല; അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ സമുദ്രം മൂടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.He led them safely, so they did not fear, but the sea engulfed their enemies.

54അവൻ അവരെ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധദേശത്തിലേക്കും തന്റെ വലങ്കൈ സമ്പാദിച്ച ഈ പർവ്വതത്തിലേക്കും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.He brought them to His holy land, to the mountain His right hand had acquired.

55അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു അവൻ ജനതകളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ചരടുകൊണ്ട് അളന്ന് അവർക്ക് അവകാശം പകുത്തുകൊടുത്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെ അവരവരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ താമസിപ്പിച്ചു.He drove out nations before them and apportioned their inheritance; He settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.

56എങ്കിലും അവർ അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ച് മത്സരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങൾ പ്രമാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.But they tested and disobeyed God Most High, for they did not keep His decrees.

57അവർ അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞ് ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു; വഞ്ചനയുള്ള വില്ലുപോലെ അവർ മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.They turned back and were faithless like their fathers, twisted like a faulty bow.

58അവർ അവരുടെ പൂജാഗിരികളെക്കൊണ്ട് അവനെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു; വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ട് അവന് തീക്ഷ്ണത ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.They enraged Him with their high places and provoked His jealousy with their idols.

59ദൈവം അത് കേട്ട് ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഏറ്റവും വെറുത്തു.On hearing it, God was furious and rejected Israel completely.

60അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൻ ശീലോവിലെ തിരുനിവാസവും താൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അടിച്ചിരുന്ന കൂടാരവും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent He had pitched among men.

61തന്റെ ബലത്തെ പ്രവാസത്തിലും തന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.He delivered His strength to captivity, and His splendor to the hand of the adversary.

62അവൻ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തോട് കോപിച്ചു; തന്റെ ജനത്തെ വാളിന് വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.He surrendered His people to the sword because He was enraged by His heritage.

63അവരുടെ യൗവനക്കാർ തീയ്ക്ക് ഇരയായിത്തീർന്നു; അവരുടെ കന്യകമാർക്ക് വിവാഹഗീതം ഉണ്ടായതുമില്ല.Fire consumed His young men, and their maidens were left without wedding songs.

64അവരുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ വാൾകൊണ്ടു വീണു; അവരുടെ വിധവമാർ വിലാപം കഴിച്ചതുമില്ല.His priests fell by the sword, but their widows could not lament.

65അപ്പോൾ കർത്താവ് ഉറക്കത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഉണർന്നുവരുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ച് അട്ടഹസിക്കുന്ന വീരനെപ്പോലെയും ഉണർന്നു.Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a mighty warrior overcome by wine.

66അവൻ തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ പിന്നിലേക്ക് ഓടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവർക്ക് നിത്യനിന്ദ വരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.He beat back His foes; He put them to everlasting shame.

67എന്നാൽ അവൻ യോസേഫിന്റെ കൂടാരത്തെ ത്യജിച്ചു; എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.He rejected the tent of Joseph and refused the tribe of Ephraim.

68അവൻ യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തെയും താൻ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സീയോൻപർവ്വതത്തെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.But He chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loved.

69താൻ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയെപ്പോലെയും സ്വർഗ്ഗോന്നതികളെപ്പോലെയും അവൻ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തെ പണിതു.He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth He has established forever.

70അവൻ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ആട്ടിൻതൊഴുത്തുകളുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്ന് അവനെ വരുത്തി.He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds;

71തന്റെ ജനമായ യാക്കോബിനെയും തന്റെ അവകാശമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെയും മേയിക്കേണ്ടതിന് യഹോവ അവനെ തള്ളയാടുകളെ നോക്കുന്ന വേലയിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.from tending the ewes He brought him to be shepherd of His people Jacob, of Israel His inheritance.

72അങ്ങനെ അവൻ പരമാർത്ഥഹൃദയത്തോടെ അവരെ മേയിച്ചു; കൈകളുടെ സാമർഥ്യത്തോടെ അവരെ നടത്തി.So David shepherded them with integrity of heart and guided them with skillful hands.
