1मग सर्व इस्राएल लोक हेब्रोन येथे दावीदाकडे आले व ते त्यास म्हणाले, “पहा, आम्ही तुझ्याच मांसाचे व हाडाचे आहोत.Then all Israel came together to David at Hebron and said, “Here we are, your own flesh and blood.

2मागील दिवसात, शौल जेव्हा आमच्यावर राजा होता, तेव्हा लढाईत तू इस्राएलाचे नेतृत्व केले आहेस. परमेश्वर तुझा देव तुला म्हणाला, ‘तू माझ्या इस्राएल लोकांचा मेंढपाळ होशील आणि माझ्या इस्राएल लोकांवर राज्य करशील.”Even in times past, while Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And the LORD your God said, ‘You will shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler over them.’”

3असे इस्राएल लोकांचे सर्व वडील राजाकडे हेब्रोन येथे आले आणि दावीदाने परमेश्वरासमोर त्यांच्याशी हेब्रोनात करार केला. तेव्हा त्यांनी दावीदाला इस्राएलावर राजा होण्यास अभिषेक केला. याप्रकारे शमुवेलाने सांगितलेले परमेश्वराचे वचन खरे ठरले.So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, where David made a covenant with them before the LORD. And they anointed him king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD through Samuel.

4दावीद व सर्व इस्राएल लोक यरुशलेम म्हणजे यबूस याठिकाणी गेले. आता त्या देशाचे रहिवासी यबूसी लोक तेथे राहत होते.Then David and all the Israelites marched to Jerusalem (that is, Jebus), where the Jebusites inhabited the land.

5यबूसचा रहिवासी दावीदाला म्हणाला, “तू येथे येणार नाहीस.” पण तरीही दावीदाने सियोनचा किल्ला घेतला. हेच दावीदाचे नगर आहे.The people of Jebus said to David, “You will never get in here.” Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion (that is, the City of David).

6दावीद म्हणाला, “जो कोणी यबूसी लोकांवर प्रथम हल्ला करील तोच माझा सेनापती होईल.” सरुवेचा पुत्र यवाब याने प्रथम हल्ला केला म्हणून त्यास सेनापती करण्यात आले.Now David had said, “Whoever is the first to strike down a Jebusite will become chief commander.” And Joab son of Zeruiah went up first, and he became the chief.

7मग दावीदाने किल्ल्यातच आपला मुक्काम केला म्हणून त्याचे नाव दावीद नगर पडले.So David took up residence in the fortress; that is why it was called the City of David.

8त्याने त्या नगराला चोहीकडून म्हणजे मिल्लोपासून ते सभोवार मजबूत कोट बांधला. नगराचा राहिलेला भाग यवाबाने मजबूत केला.He built up the city around it, from the supporting terraces to the surrounding wall, while Joab restored the rest of the city.

9दावीद अधिकाधिक महान होत गेला कारण सेनाधीश परमेश्वर त्याच्याबरोबर होता.And David became greater and greater, for the LORD of Hosts was with him.

10हे दावीदाजवळच्या पुढाऱ्यांतील होते, इस्राएलाविषयी परमेश्वराच्या वचनाप्रमाणे त्यास राजा करावे म्हणून समस्त इस्राएलाबरोबर त्याच्या राज्यात खंबीर राहिले.Now these were the chiefs of David’s mighty men, who, together with all Israel, bolstered and strengthened his kingdom, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.

11दावीदाकडील उत्तम सैनिकांची यादी: याशबाम, हा हखमोनीचा पुत्र, तीस जणांचा सेनापती होता. त्याने एका प्रसंगी आपल्या भाल्याने तीनशे मनुष्यांना ठार मारले.This is the list of David’s mighty men: Jashobeam son of Hachmoni was chief of the officers; he wielded his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed at one time.

12त्यानंतर दोदय अहोही याचा पुत्र एलाजार तिघा पराक्रमी वीरांपैकी एक होता.Next in command was Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men.

13पसदम्मीम येथे हा दावीदाबरोबर होता. पलिष्टे तेथे एकत्र होऊन लढावयाला आले होते. तेथे शेतात जवाचे पीक होते आणि पलिष्ट्यांपुढून सैन्य पळून गेले होते.He was with David at Pas-dammim when the Philistines gathered there for battle. At a place with a field full of barley, the troops fled from the Philistines.

14तेव्हा त्यांनी त्या शेतात उभे राहून त्या पलिष्ट्यांना कापून काढले आणि रक्षण केले. परमेश्वराने त्यांची सुटका करून त्यांना मोठा विजय मिळवून दिला.But Eleazar and David stationed themselves in the middle of the field and defended it. They struck down the Philistines, and the LORD brought about a great victory.

15एकदा, दावीद अदुल्लामच्या गुहेत होता. पलिष्ट्यांचे सैन्य तेथून खाली रेफाईमच्या खोऱ्यात होते. त्यावेळी तीस वीरापैकी तिघेजण गुहेत असलेल्या दावीदाकडे खडक उतरून गेले.Three of the thirty chief men went down to David, to the rock at the cave of Adullam, while a company of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.

16आणखी एकदा दावीद त्याच्या किल्ल्यांत, गुहेत, असताना पलिष्ट्यांचे सैन्य बेथलेहेममध्ये होते.At that time David was in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was at Bethlehem.

17तेव्हा दावीदाला पाण्याची फार उत्कट इच्छा झाली. तो म्हणाला, “बेथलेहेमच्या वेशीजवळ विहीर आहे तिच्यातले पाणी जर मला कोणी आणून दिले तर किती बरे होईल!”David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!”

18यावर त्या तिघांनी पलिष्ट्यांच्या छावणीतून मोठ्या हिंमतीने वाट काढली, बेथलेहेमच्या वेशीजवळच्या विहिरीतील पाणी काढले आणि ते त्यांनी दावीदाला आणून दिले. परंतु त्याने ते पाणी पिण्यास नकार दिला. त्याने ते जमिनीवर ओतून परमेश्वरास अर्पण केले.So the Three broke through the Philistine camp, drew water from the well at the gate of Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out to the LORD,

19तो म्हणाला “हे देवा, असले काम माझ्याकडून न होवो या ज्या मनुष्यांनी आपले जीव धोक्यात घातले त्यांचे हे रक्त मी प्यावे काय? त्यांनी आपला जीव धोक्यात घालून ते आणले आहे.” त्याने ते पिण्यास नकार दिला. त्या तीन शूरांनी हे कृत्ये केले.saying, “Far be it from me, my God, to do this! How can I drink the blood of these men who risked their lives?” Because they had brought it at the risk of their lives, David refused to drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.

He struck down two champions of Moab, and on a snowy day he went down into a pit and killed a lion.

23मिसरच्या एका मजबूत सैनिकालाही त्याने ठार मारले. हा सैनिक साडेसात फूट उंचीचा होता. त्याच्याजवळ चांगला लांब आणि भक्कम भाला होता. विणकराच्या मागावरील तुळईएवढा हा भाला होता. बनायाजवळ फक्त गदा होती. बनायाने त्या सैनिकाच्या हातून भाला हिसकावून घेतला आणि त्यानेच त्या मिसरी सैनिकाला ठार केले.He also struck down an Egyptian, a huge man five cubits tall. Although the Egyptian had a spear like a weaver’s beam in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club, snatched the spear from his hand, and killed the Egyptian with his own spear.

24यहोयादाचा पुत्र बनाया याने असे बरेच पराक्रम केले. त्याने अगदी तीन शूरवीरासारखे नाव मिळवले होते.These were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who won a name along with the three mighty men.

25तीस शूरांपेक्षा बनाया अधिक सन्माननीय होता. पण तो त्या तिघांच्या पदास पोहचला नाही. दावीदाने बनायाला आपल्या अंगरक्षकांचा प्रमुख म्हणून नेमले.He was most honored among the Thirty, but he did not become one of the Three. And David appointed him over his guard.

26सैन्यातील शूर सैनिक यवाबाचा भाऊ असाएल, बेथलेहेमच्या दोदोचा पुत्र एलहानान,Now these were the mighty men: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

27हरोरी शम्मोथ, हेलस पलोनी,Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

28तकोइच्या इक्केशचा पुत्र ईरा, अनाथोथचा अबीयेजरIra son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,

29सिब्बखय हूशाथी, ईलाय अहोही,Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

30महरय नटोफाथी, बाना नटोफाथी याचा पुत्र हेलेद,Maharai the Netophathite, Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite,

31बन्यामिनांच्या संतानांमधला गिबोथकर रीबय याचा पुत्र इत्तय, बनाया पिराथोनी,Ithai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the Benjamites, Benaiah the Pirathonite,

32गाशच्या झऱ्यांजवळचा हूरय, अबीएल अर्बाथी,Hurai from the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,

33अजमावेथ बहरुमी, अलीहाबा शालबोनी,Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,

34हामेश गिजोनी याचे पुत्र, शागे हरारी याचा पुत्र योनाथान,the sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan son of Shagee the Hararite,

35हरारी साखार याचा पुत्र अहीयाम, ऊरचा पुत्र अलीफल,Ahiam son of Sachar the Hararite, Eliphal son of Ur,

36हेफेर मखेराथी, अहीया पलोनी,Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,

37हेस्री कर्मेली, एजबयचा पुत्र नारय,Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai son of Ezbai,

38नाथानचा भाऊ योएल, हग्रीचा पुत्र मिभार,Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar son of Hagri,

39सेलक अम्मोनी, सरुवेचा पुत्र यवाब याचा शस्त्रवाहक नहरय बैरोथी,Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, the armor-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah,

40ईरा, इथ्री, गारेब, इथ्री,Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

41उरीया हित्ती, अहलयाचा पुत्र जाबाद,Uriah the Hittite, Zabad son of Ahlai,

42शीजा रऊबेनी याचा पुत्र अदीना हा रऊबेन्याचा अधिकारी व तीस शूरांपैकी एक,Adina son of Shiza the Reubenite, chief of the Reubenites, and the thirty with him,

43माकाचा पुत्र हानान आणि योशाफाट मिथनी,Hanan son of Maacah, Joshaphat the Mithnite,

44उज्जीया अष्टराथी, होथाम अरोएरी याचे पुत्र शामा व ईयेल,Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,

45शिम्रीचा यदीएल योहा तीसी आणि त्याचा भाऊ योहाJediael son of Shimri and his brother Joha the Tizite,

46अलीएल महवी व एलानामचे पुत्र यरीबय आणि योशव्या व इथ्मा मवाबी,Eliel the Mahavite, Jeribai and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, Ithmah the Moabite,

47अलीएल, ओबेद आणि यासीएल मसोबायी.Eliel, Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite.
