4 ULB जेव्हा ईजबेल परमेश्वराच्या सर्व संदेष्ट्यांना ठार करायला निघाली होती. तेव्हा ओबद्याने शंभर संदेष्ट्यांचे जीव वाचवले. पन्नास जण एका गुहेत, असे दोन गुहांमध्ये त्याने त्यांना लपवले व त्यांच्या अन्नपाण्याचीहि तरतूद केली. 5 ULB अहाब राजा ओबद्याला म्हणाला, “देशातील सगळ्या पाण्याच्या ओहोळ व झऱ्यांवर जा, कदाचित खेचरे, घोडी वाचतील एवढे गवत मिळणार आणि म्हणजे सर्व पशू मरणार नाहीत.” BSB BSB: Then Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go throughout the land to every spring and every valley. Perhaps we will find grass to keep the horses and mules alive so that we will not have to destroy any livestock.”

BSB BSB: As surely as the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent someone to search for you. BSB BSB: I do not know where the Spirit of the LORD may carry you off when I leave you. Then when I go and tell Ahab and he does not find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared the LORD from my youth.

BSB BSB: Then Elijah approached all the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him. But if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people did not answer a word.
22 ULB मग एलीया लोकांस म्हणाला, “मी, मीच फक्त परमेश्वराचा संदेष्टा असा राहलो आहे, पण बआलाचे चारशेपन्नास संदेष्टे आहेत. BSB BSB: Then Elijah said to the people, “I am the only remaining prophet of the LORD, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.
23 ULB तेव्हा त्यांनी आम्हांला दोन गोऱ्हे द्यावे, त्यांनी आपणासाठी त्यातून एक गोऱ्हा निवडून त्याचे तुकडे करावे व लाकडे रचून त्यावर ठेवावे, मात्र त्याखाली विस्तव पेटवू नये. मग मी दुसरा गोऱ्हा तयार करून ठेवीन व विस्तव लावणार नाही. BSB BSB: Get two bulls for us. Let the prophets of Baal choose one bull for themselves, cut it into pieces, and place it on the wood but not light the fire. And I will prepare the other bull and place it on the wood but not light the fire.
24 ULB तेव्हा तुम्ही आपल्या देवाचे नाव घ्या व मी परमेश्वराचे नाव घेईन, आणि जो देव अग्नीच्या द्वारे उत्तर देईल तोच खरा देव.” तेव्हा सर्व लोकांनी उत्तर देऊन म्हटले, “हे चांगले आहे.” BSB BSB: Then you may call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The God who answers by fire, He is God.” And all the people answered, “What you say is good.”
25 ULB मग एलीया बआलाच्या संदेष्ट्यांना म्हणाला, “तुम्ही बरेचजण आहात, तेव्हा पहिल्याने तुम्ही आपणासाठी एक गोऱ्हा निवडून घेऊन तयार करा आणि विस्तव न लावता आपल्या देवाचे नाव घ्या.” BSB BSB: Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Since you are so numerous, choose for yourselves one bull and prepare it first. Then call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire.”

Perhaps he is deep in thought, or occupied, or on a journey. Perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened!”
28 ULB तेव्हा त्या संदेष्ट्यांनी मोठमोठ्याने प्रार्थना केली. भाल्यांनी आणि सुऱ्यांनी स्वत:वर वार करून घेतले. (ही त्यांची पूजेची पध्दत होती) त्यांचे अंग रक्ताळले. BSB BSB: So they shouted louder and cut themselves with knives and lances, as was their custom, until the blood gushed over them.
29 ULB दुपार उलटली पण लाकडे पेटली नाहीत. संध्याकाळच्या यज्ञाची वेळ होत आली तोपर्यंत ते भविष्य सांगत होते. पण काहीही घडले नाही बालाकडून प्रतिसाद मिळाला नाही. कुठलाही आवाज आला नाही. कारण ऐकणारेच कोणी नव्हते! BSB BSB: Midday passed, and they kept on raving until the time of the evening sacrifice. But there was no response; no one answered, no one paid attention.
30 ULB मग एलीया सर्व लोकांस उद्देशून म्हणाला, “आता सगळे माझ्याजवळ या.” तेव्हा सगळे त्याच्याभोवती जमले. परमेश्वराच्या वेदीची मोडतोड झालेली होती. तेव्हा एलीयाने आधी ते सर्व नीट केले. BSB BSB: Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people approached him, and he repaired the altar of the LORD that had been torn down.
31 ULB एलीयाने बारा दगड घेतले. प्रत्येकाच्या नावाचा एकेक याप्रमाणे बारा वंशांचे ते बारा दगड होते. याकोबाच्या बारा मुलांच्या नावाचे ते वंश होते. याकोबालाच परमेश्वराने इस्राएल या नावाने संबोधले होते. BSB BSB: And Elijah took twelve stones, one for each tribe of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come and said, “Israel shall be your name.”
32 ULB परमेश्वराच्या सन्मानार्थ हे दगड वेदीच्या डागडुजीसाठी एलीयाने वापरले. मग त्याने वेदीभोवती एक चर खणला. सात गंलन पाणी मावण्याइतकी त्याची खोली आणि रुंदी होती. BSB BSB: And with the stones, Elijah built an altar in the name of the LORD. Then he dug a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed.

36 ULB दुपारच्या यज्ञाची वेळ झाली. तेव्हा संदेष्टा एलीया वेदीपाशी गेला आणि त्याने प्रार्थना केली, “परमेश्वरा, अब्राहाम, इसहाक आणि याकोब यांच्या देवा, तूच इस्राएलचा देव आहेस हे तू आता सिध्द करून दाखवावेस अशी माझी तुला विनंती आहे. हे सर्व तूच माझ्याकडून करवून घेतलेस हे यांना कळू दे. मी तुझा सेवक आहे हे ही कळू दे. BSB BSB: At the time of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet approached the altar and said, “O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant and have done all these things at Your command.
37 ULB हे परमेश्वरा, माझ्या विनवणीकडे लक्ष दे. तूच खरा परमेश्वर देव आहेस हे यांना दाखव. म्हणजे तू त्यांना पुन्हा स्वत:जवळ घेत आहेस हे त्यांना पटेल.” BSB BSB: Answer me, O LORD! Answer me, so that this people will know that You, the LORD, are God, and that You have turned their hearts back again.”
38 ULB तेव्हा परमेश्वराने अग्नी पाठवला. यज्ञ, लाकडे, दगड, वेदीभोवतीची जमीन हे सर्व पेटले. भोवतीच्या चरातले पाणी सुध्दा त्या अग्नीने सुकून गेले. BSB BSB: Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, and the dust, and it licked up the water in the trench.
39 ULB सर्वांच्या देखतच हे घडले. तेव्हा लोकांनी जमीनीवर पालथे पडून “परमेश्वर हाच देव आहे, परमेश्वर हाच देव आहे” असे म्हटले. BSB BSB: When all the people saw this, they fell facedown and said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!”
40 ULB एलीया म्हणाला, “त्या बआलाच्या संदेष्ट्यांना पकडून आणा. त्यांना निसटू देऊ नका” तेव्हा लोकांनी त्या सगळ्यांना धरले एलीयाने मग त्यांना किशोन झऱ्याजवळ नेले आणि तेथे सर्व संदेष्ट्यांची हत्या केली. BSB BSB: Then Elijah ordered them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let a single one escape.” So they seized them, and Elijah brought them down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered them there.
41 ULB एलीया मग अहाब राजाला म्हणाला, “जा, आता तू तुझे खाणेपिणे उरकून घे कारण खूप जोराचा पाऊस पडणार आहे” BSB BSB: And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.”
42 ULB तेव्हा अहाब राजा त्यासाठी निघाला. त्याचवेळी एलीया कर्मेल डोंगराच्या माथ्यावर चढून गेला. तेथे पोहोंचल्यावर ओणवून, गुडघ्यात डोके घालून बसला. BSB BSB: So Ahab went up to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the summit of Carmel, bent down on the ground, and put his face between his knees.
43 ULB आणि आपल्याबरोबरच्या सेवकाला म्हणाला, “समुद्राकडे पाहा” समुद्र दिसेल अशा जागी हा सेवक गेला पण परत येऊन म्हणाला, “तिथे काहीच दिसले नाही” एलीयाने त्यास पुन्हा सात वेळेस जाऊन पाहायला सांगितले. 44 ULB सातव्यांदा मात्र सेवक परत येऊन म्हणाला, एक लहानसा, मुठीएवढा ढग मला दिसला. समुद्रावरुन तो येत होता तेव्हा एलीयाने त्या सेवकाला सांगितले, “अहाब राजाकडे जाऊन त्यास रथात बसून ताबडतोब घरी जायला सांग. कारण तो आत्ता निघाला नाहीतर पावसामुळे त्यास थांबावे लागेल.” BSB BSB: On the seventh time the servant reported, “There is a cloud as small as a man’s hand rising from the sea.” And Elijah replied, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”
45 ULB पाहता पाहता आकाश ढगांनी भरुन गेले. वारा सुटला आणि मुसळधार पाऊस सुरु झाला. अहाब आपल्या रथात बसून इज्रेलला परत जायला निघाला. BSB BSB: Meanwhile, the sky grew dark with clouds and wind, and a heavy rain began to fall. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.
46 ULB परंतु एलीयावर परमेश्वराचा हात असल्यामुळे, धावता यावे म्हणून त्याने आपले कपडे सावरून घट्ट खोचले आणि सरळ इज्रेलपर्यंत तो अहाबाच्या पुढे धावत गेला. BSB BSB: And the hand of the LORD came upon Elijah, and he tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.
