Paul’s Greeting to the Galatians 1 MUR PAUL, a legate, not from men, nor by man, but by Jesus the Messiah, and God his Father, who raised him from the dead; BSB BSB: Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead—
MUR and all the brethren who are with me; unto the churches which are in Galatia. BSB BSB: and all the brothers with me, To the churches of Galatia:
MUR Grace be with you, and peace, from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus the Messiah; BSB BSB: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
MUR who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this evil world, agreeably to the pleasure of God our Father: BSB BSB: who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
MUR to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. BSB BSB: to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
No Other Gospel 7 MUR which doth not exist, except as there are some who would disquiet you, and are disposed to pervert the gospel of the Messiah. BSB BSB: which is not even a gospel. Evidently some people are troubling you and trying to distort the gospel of Christ.
MUR As I have just said, and now I again say it, that if any one announce to you differently from what ye received, let him be accursed. BSB BSB: As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be under a curse!
Paul Preaches the Gospel 10 MUR For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I had till now pleased men, I should not have been a servant of the Messiah. BSB BSB: Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
MUR But I make known to you, my brethren, that the gospel announced by me, was not from man. BSB BSB: For I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached was not devised by man.
MUR For I did not receive it and learn it from man, but I had it by revelation from Jesus the Messiah. BSB BSB: I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
MUR and that I went much farther in Judaism than many of my contemporaries who were of my nation, and was peculiarly zealous for the doctrine of my fathers. BSB BSB: I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
MUR But when it pleased him, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, BSB BSB: But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, was pleased
MUR to reveal his Son by me, that I should proclaim him among the Gentiles; forthwith, I did not open it to flesh and blood; BSB BSB: to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not rush to consult with flesh and blood,
MUR nor did I go to Jerusalem, to them who were legates before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again to Damascus: BSB BSB: nor did I go up to Jerusalem to the apostles who came before me, but I went into Arabia and later returned to Damascus.
MUR In the things which I am writing to you, behold, before God! I lie not. BSB BSB: I assure you before God that what I am writing to you is no lie.
MUR And after that, I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia. BSB BSB: Later I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
MUR And the churches in Judaea which were in the Messiah; did not know me personally: BSB BSB: I was personally unknown, however, to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.
MUR but this only had they heard, that he who before persecuted us, now preacheth that faith which in time preceding he subverted: BSB BSB: They only heard the account: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
MUR and they glorified God in me. BSB BSB: And they glorified God because of me.
