1. Jesus Appears by the Sea of Tiberias

2. 1MURAfter these things, Jesus showed himself again to his disciples, at the sea of Tiberias: and he showed himself thus:BSBBSB: Later, by the Sea of Tiberias, Jesus again revealed Himself to the disciples. He made Himself known in this way:
3. 2MURThere were together, Simon Cephas, and Thomas called the Twin, and Nathaniel who was of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of the disciples.BSBBSB: Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
4. 3MURSimon Cephas said to them: I will go and catch fishes. They said to him: We will go with thee. And they went, and embarked in a ship: and that night, they caught nothing.BSBBSB: Simon Peter told them, “I am going fishing.” “We will go with you,” they said. So they went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night.
5. 4MURAnd when it was morning, Jesus stood on the shore of the sea: and the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.BSBBSB: Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not recognize that it was Jesus.
6. 5MURAnd Jesus said to them: Lads, have ye any thing to eat? They say to him: No.BSBBSB: So He called out to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” “No,” they answered.
7. 6MURHe said to them: Cast your net on the right side of the ship, and ye will find them. And they cast; and they could not draw up the net, because of the multitude of fishes it contained.BSBBSB: He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish.
8. 7MURAnd that disciple whom Jesus loved, said to Cephas That is our Lord. And Simon, when he heard that it was our Lord, took his tunic, and girded his loins, (for he had been naked,) and threw himself into the sea, to go to Jesus.BSBBSB: Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it) and jumped into the sea.
9. 8MURBut the other disciples came in the ship, (for they were not very far from the land, only about two hundred cubits,) and they dragged the net with the fishes.BSBBSB: The other disciples came ashore in the boat. They dragged in the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards.
10. 9MURAnd when they came upon the land, they saw coals placed, and fish laid on them, and bread.BSBBSB: When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it, and some bread.
11. 10MURAnd Jesus said to them: Bring some of the fishes, which ye have just caught.BSBBSB: Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
12. 11MURAnd Simon Cephas embarked, and drew the net to land, full of huge fishes, one hundred and fifty and three. And with all this weight, the net was not rent.BSBBSB: So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many, the net was not torn.
13. 12MURAnd Jesus said to them: Come and dine. And no one of the disciples presumed to ask him, who he was; for they knew that it was our Lord.BSBBSB: “Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said to them. None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord.
14. 13MURAnd Jesus came, and took bread and fishes, and gave to his disciples.BSBBSB: Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and He did the same with the fish.
15. 14MURThis is the third time that Jesus appeared to his disciples when he had arisen from the dead.BSBBSB: This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after He was raised from the dead.

16. Jesus and Peter

17. 15MURAnd when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Cephas: Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me, more than these do? He said to him: Yes, my Lord: thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said to him: Feed my lambs for me.BSBBSB: When they had finished eating, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he answered, “You know I love You.” Jesus replied, “Feed My lambs.”
18. 16MURAgain, he said to him the second time: Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He said to him: Yes, my Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said to him: Feed my sheep for me.BSBBSB: Jesus asked a second time, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” “Yes, Lord,” he answered, “You know I love You.” Jesus told him, “Shepherd My sheep.”
19. 17MURAgain, Jesus said to him the third time: Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? And it grieved Cephas, that he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me; and he said to him: My Lord, thou understandest all things, thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said to him: Feed my sheep for me.BSBBSB: Jesus asked a third time, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was deeply hurt that Jesus had asked him a third time, “Do you love Me?” “Lord, You know all things,” he replied. “You know I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.
20. 18MURVerily, verily, I say to thee: When thou wast young, thou girdedst thy own loins, and walkedst whither it pleased thee: but when thou shalt be old, thou wilt extend thy hands, and another will gird thy loins for thee, and will conduct thee whither thou wouldst not.BSBBSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”
21. 19MURAnd this he said, to show by what death he was to glorify God. And having said these things, he said to him: Follow me.BSBBSB: Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. And after He had said this, He told him, “Follow Me.”

22. Jesus and the Beloved Disciple

23. 20MURAnd Simon turned himself, and saw coming after him, that disciple whom Jesus loved, who fell on the breast of Jesus at the supper, and said, My Lord, who is it will betray thee?BSBBSB: Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them. He was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper to ask, “Lord, who is going to betray You?”
24. 21MURHim Cephas saw, and said to Jesus: My Lord, as for this man, what?BSBBSB: When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
25. 22MURJesus said to him: If I will, that he abide here until I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.BSBBSB: Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you? You follow Me!”
26. 23MURAnd this saying went forth among the brethren, that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say, that he would not die; but, If I will that he abide here until I come, what is that to thee.BSBBSB: Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you?”
27. 24MURThis is the disciple who hath testified of all these things, and hath written them: and we know, that his testimony is true.BSBBSB: This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who has written them down. And we know that his testimony is true.
28. 25MURAnd there are also many other things, which Jesus did; which, if written out with particularity, the world itself, as I suppose, would not suffice for the books that would be written. Completion of the Holy Gospel, the announcement of John the Evangelist; which he uttered, in Greek, at Ephesus.BSBBSB: There are many more things that Jesus did. If all of them were written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have space for the books that would be written.
