10. 9MURThe Samaritan woman said to him: How dost thou, a Jew, ask drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? For the Jews have no familiarity with Samaritans.BSBBSB: “You are a Jew,” said the woman. “How can You ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)
11. 10MURJesus replied and said to her: If thou hadst known the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living waters.BSBBSB: Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God and who is asking you for a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
12. 11MURThe woman said to him: My lord, thou hast no bucket, and the well is deep.; how hast thou living waters?BSBBSB: “Sir,” the woman replied, “You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where then will You get this living water?
13. 12MURArt thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well, and drank from it himself, and his children, and his flocks?BSBBSB: Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock?”
14. 13MURJesus replied and said to her: Whoever shall drink of these waters, will thirst again;BSBBSB: Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again.
15. 14MURbut whoever shall drink of the waters which I shall give him, will not thirst for ever; but the waters, which I shall give him, will be in him a fountain of waters, springing up unto life eternal.BSBBSB: But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.”
16. 15MURThe woman said to him: My lord, give me of these waters, that I may not thirst again, and may not come to draw from here.BSBBSB: The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water so that I will not get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
17. 16MURJesus said to her: Go, call thy husband, and come hither.BSBBSB: Jesus told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
18. 17MURShe said to him: I have no husband. Jesus said to her: Thou hast well said, I have no husband;BSBBSB: “I have no husband,” the woman replied. Jesus said to her, “You are correct to say that you have no husband.
19. 18MURfor thou hast had five husbands, and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband. In this thou didst speak truly.BSBBSB: In fact, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. You have spoken truthfully.”
20. 19MURThe woman said to him: My lord, I perceive thou art a prophet.BSBBSB: “Sir,” the woman said, “I see that You are a prophet.
21. 20MUROur fathers worshipped in this mountain; but ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where it is proper to worship.BSBBSB: Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where one must worship is in Jerusalem.”
22. 21MURJesus said to her: Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, ye will worship the Father.BSBBSB: “Believe Me, woman,” Jesus replied, “a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
23. 22MURYe worship, ye know not what; but we worship what we know; for life is from the Jews.BSBBSB: You worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.
24. 23MURBut the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father requireth that worshippers be such.BSBBSB: But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him.
25. 24MURFor God is a Spirit; and they that worship him, should worship in spirit and in truth.BSBBSB: God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
26. 25MURThe woman said to him: I know that Messiah will come; and when he cometh, he will teach us every thing.BSBBSB: The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”
27. 26MURJesus said to her: I, who talk with thee, am he.BSBBSB: Jesus answered, “I who speak to you am He.”

And they wondered that he would converse with the woman; yet no one said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?BSBBSB: Just then His disciples returned and were surprised that He was speaking with a woman. But no one asked Him, “What do You want from her?” or “Why are You talking with her?”
30. 28MURAnd the woman left her water-pot, and went to the city, and said to the people:BSBBSB: Then the woman left her water jar, went back into the town, and said to the people,

32. 30MURAnd the people went out of the city, and came to him.BSBBSB: So they left the town and made their way toward Jesus.
33. 31MURIn the mean time, his disciples entreated him, and said to him: Our Rabbi, eat.BSBBSB: Meanwhile the disciples urged Him, “Rabbi, eat something.”
34. 32MURBut he said to them: I have food to eat, of which ye are ignorant.BSBBSB: But He told them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
35. 33MURThe disciples said among themselves: Hath any one brought him something to eat?BSBBSB: So the disciples asked one another, “Could someone have brought Him food?”
36. 34MURJesus said to them: My food is to do the pleasure of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.BSBBSB: Jesus explained, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.
37. 35MURDo ye not say, that after four months cometh the harvest? Behold, I say to you, and lift up your eyes, and look upon the grounds, that they are white, and have already come to the harvest.BSBBSB: Do you not say, ‘There are still four months until the harvest’? I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ripe for harvest.
38. 36MURAnd he that reapeth, receiveth wages, and gathereth fruits unto life eternal; and the sower and the reaper equally rejoice.BSBBSB: Already the reaper draws his wages and gathers a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may rejoice together.
39. 37MURFor in this, is the proverb true, that one is the sower, and another the reaper.BSBBSB: For in this case the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true.
40. 38MURI sent you to reap that, on which ye labored not: for others toiled, and ye entered into their labor.BSBBSB: I sent you to reap what you have not worked for; others have done the hard work, and now you have taken up their labor.”

44. 41MURAnd many believed on him, because of his discourse.BSBBSB: And many more believed because of His message.
45. 42MURAnd they said to the woman: Henceforth we believe in him, not on account of thy word; for we have heard him ourselves, and we know that he truly is the Messiah, the Life-Giver of the world.BSBBSB: They said to the woman, “We now believe not only because of your words; we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man truly is the Savior of the world.”

56. 52MURAnd he asked them, at what time he recovered. And they said to him: Yesterday, at the seventh hour the fever left him.BSBBSB: So he inquired as to the hour when his son had recovered, and they told him, “The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour.”
57. 53MURAnd his father knew, that it was at the hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son liveth. And he believed, and all his house.BSBBSB: Then the father realized that this was the very hour in which Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” And he and all his household believed.
