16Yohane anayankha onse kuti, “Ine ndikubatizani ndi madzi. Koma wina wondiposa ine mphamvu adzabwera amene sindili woyenera kumasula lamba wa nsapato zake. Iyeyu adzakubatizani inu ndi Mzimu Woyera ndi moto.John answered all of them: “I baptize you with water, but One more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

18Ndipo ndi mawu ena ambiri, Yohane anawachenjeza anthu ndi kuwalalikira Uthenga Wabwino.With these and many other exhortations, John proclaimed the good news to the people.

19Koma pamene Yohane anadzudzula Herode wolamulirayo chifukwa chokwatira Herodia, mkazi wa mʼbale wake, ndi zoyipa zina zonse anazichita,But when he rebuked Herod the tetrarch regarding his brother’s wife Herodias and all the evils he had done,

20Herode anawonjezanso choyipa ichi pa zonsezo: Anatsekera Yohane mʼndende.Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.

21Pamene anthu onse ankabatizidwa, Yesu anabatizidwanso. Ndipo akupemphera, kumwamba kunatsekuka.When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as He was praying, heaven was opened,

22Mzimu Woyera anatsika pa Iye mumaonekedwe a nkhunda ndipo mawu anamveka kuchokera kumwamba: “Iwe ndiwe Mwana wanga wokondedwa; ndimakondwera nawe.”and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

30mwana wa Simeoni, mwana wa Yuda, mwana wa Yosefe, mwana wa Yonamu, mwana wa Eliakimu,the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim,

31mwana wa Meleya, mwana wa Mena, mwana wa Matata, mwana wa Natani, mwana wa Davide,the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David,

32mwana wa Yese, mwana wa Obedi, mwana wa Bowazi, mwana wa Salimoni, mwana wa Naasoni,the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Sala, the son of Nahshon,
