1 UDB ଅତଏବ, ହେ ମୋହର ପୁତ୍ର, ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଦତ୍ତ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହରେ ବଳବାନ ହୁଅ, ଏହା ମୁଁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରେ। BSB BSB: You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 UDB ଆଉ ଅନେକ ସାକ୍ଷୀଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଯେଉଁ ସବୁ ବାକ୍ୟ ମୋଠାରୁ ଶୁଣିଅଛ, ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଅନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେବାକୁ ସମର୍ଥ, ଏପରି ବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସେହି ସବୁ ଅର୍ପଣ କର। BSB BSB: And the things that you have heard me say among many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be qualified to teach others as well.
3 UDB ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କର ଜଣେ ଉତ୍ତମ ଯୋଦ୍ଧା ପରି ମୋ ସହିତ କ୍ଲେଶ ସହ୍ୟ କର। BSB BSB: Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4 UDB କୌଣସି ଲୋକ ସୈନ୍ୟକାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରି ସଂସାରର ଅନ୍ୟ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟରେ ନିଜକୁ ଆବଦ୍ଧ କରେ ନାହିଁ, ଯେପରି ସୈନ୍ୟପଦରେ ନିଯୁକ୍ତିଦାତାଙ୍କୁ ସେ ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ କରିପାରେ। BSB BSB: A soldier refrains from entangling himself in civilian affairs, in order to please the one who enlisted him.
5 UDB ଆହୁରି ମଧ୍ୟ ଯଦି ଜଣେ ଲୋକ ଖେଳରେ ଭାଗ ନିଏ, ସେ ନିୟମ ଅନୁସାରେ ତାହା ନ କଲେ ମୁକୁଟ ପାଏ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: Likewise, a competitor does not receive the crown unless he competes according to the rules.
6 UDB ଯେଉଁ କୃଷକ ପରିଶ୍ରମ କରେ, ସେ ପ୍ରଥମେ ଫଳର ଅଂଶ ପାଇବା ଉଚିତ୍। BSB BSB: The hardworking farmer should be the first to partake of the crops.
7 UDB ମୁଁ ଯାହା ଲେଖିଲି, ତାହା ଚିନ୍ତା କର; ତାହା କଲେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ବୁଦ୍ଧି ଦେବେ। BSB BSB: Consider what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all things.
8 UDB ମୋ’ଦ୍ୱାରା ପ୍ରଚାରିତ ସୁସମାଚାର ଅନୁସାରେ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଉତ୍ଥିତ ଓ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ବଂଶଜାତ ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ମରଣ କର। BSB BSB: Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David, as proclaimed by my gospel,
9 UDB ସେହି ସୁସମାଚାର ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ଅପରାଧୀ ପରି ବନ୍ଦୀ ହେବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ କ୍ଲେଶ ଭୋଗ କରୁଅଛି; କିନ୍ତୁ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ ବନ୍ଦୀ ନୁହେଁ। BSB BSB: for which I suffer to the extent of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained!
10 UDB ଅତଏବ, ମନୋନୀତ ଲୋକମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଯେପରି ଅନନ୍ତ ଗୌରବ ସହିତ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ଦତ୍ତ ପରିତ୍ରାଣ ପାଆନ୍ତି, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ଧୈର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଧରି ସହ୍ୟ କରୁଅଛି। BSB BSB: For this reason I endure all things for the sake of the elect, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.
11 UDB ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ ବିଶ୍ୱାସଯୋଗ୍ୟ, ଯଦି ତାହାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ମରିଅଛୁ, ତେବେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ମଧ୍ୟ ବଞ୍ଚିବା; BSB BSB: This is a trustworthy saying: If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12 UDB ଯଦି ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଧୈର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଧରି ସହ୍ୟ କରୁ, ତେବେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ମଧ୍ୟ ଶାସନ କରିବା; ଯଦି ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଅସ୍ୱୀକାର କରୁ, ତେବେ ସେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅସ୍ୱୀକାର କରିବେ; BSB BSB: if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He will also deny us;
13 UDB ଯେବେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ, ଅବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ ହେଉ, ତେବେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ସେ (ଯୀଶୁ) ସର୍ବଦା ବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ, କାରଣ ସେ ଆପଣାକୁ ଅସ୍ୱୀକାର କରି ପାରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
14 UDB ମୁଁ ତୁମକୁ କହିଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ କଥା ସ୍ମରଣ କରାଇ ଶ୍ରୋତାମାନଙ୍କର ଅହିତକର ଓ ବିନାଶଜନକ ବାଦାନୁବାଦ ନ କରିବାକୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଦୃଢ଼ରୂପେ ଆଦେଶ ଦିଅ। BSB BSB: Remind the believers of these things, charging them before God to avoid quarreling over words, which succeeds only in leading the listeners to ruin.
15 UDB ସତ୍ୟ ବାକ୍ୟ ଯଥାର୍ଥରୂପେ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରି, ଯେଉଁ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକାରୀର ଲଜ୍ଜା ବୋଧ କରିବା ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ନୁହେଁ, ତାହାର ପରି ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଆପଣାକୁ ପରୀକ୍ଷାସିଦ୍ଧ ଦେଖାଇବାକୁ ଯତ୍ନ କର। BSB BSB: Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed workman who accurately handles the word of truth.
16 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ ଅସାର କଥାବାର୍ତ୍ତାରୁ ଦୂରରେ ରୁହ; କାରଣ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ସେଥିରେ ଲିପ୍ତ ହେବେ, ସେମାନେ ଅଧର୍ମରେ ଅଧିକ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇବେ, BSB BSB: But avoid irreverent, empty chatter, which will only lead to more ungodliness,
17 UDB ଆଉ ସେମାନଙ୍କର କଥା ପଚା ଘା’ ପରି ଖାଇଯିବ; ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ହୁମନାୟ ଓ ଫିଲୀତ ଅନ୍ୟତମ; BSB BSB: and the talk of such men will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 UDB ସେମାନେ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ହୋଇଗଲାଣି ବୋଲି କହି ସତ୍ୟଭ୍ରଷ୍ଟ ହୋଇଅଛନ୍ତି, ପୁଣି, କେତେକଙ୍କର ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ଓଲଟାଇ ପକାଉଅଛନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: who have deviated from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already occurred, and they undermine the faith of some.
19 UDB ତଥାପି ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ସ୍ଥାପିତ ସତ୍ୟ ଏବେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅଛି। ଏହା ଗୃହର ସୁଦୃଢ଼ ଭିତ୍ତିମୂଳ ସଦୃଶ, ଆଉ ତହିଁ ଉପରେ ଏହା ମୁଦ୍ରାଙ୍କିତ ହୋଇଅଛି, ପ୍ରଭୁ ଆପଣା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣନ୍ତି, ଆଉ, ଯେ କେହି ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ନାମ ଧରେ, ସେ ଅଧର୍ମରୁ ଦୂରରେ ରହୁ। BSB BSB: Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from iniquity.”
20 UDB ଗୋଟିଏ ବଡ଼ ଘରେ (ଧନୀ) ଯେ କେବଳ ସୁନା ଓ ରୂପାର ପାତ୍ର ଥାଏ, ତାହା ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର କାଠ ଓ ମାଟିର ପାତ୍ର ମଧ୍ୟ ଥାଏ; କେତେକ ବିଶେଷ ବ୍ୟବହାର ଓ କେତେକ ସାଧାରଣ ବ୍ୟବହାର ନିମନ୍ତେ ଥାଏ। BSB BSB: A large house contains not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use.
21 UDB ଅତଏବ, ଯଦି କେହି ସେହି ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କଠାରୁ ନିଜକୁ ପରିଷ୍କାର କରେ, ତାହାହେଲେ ସେ ପବିତ୍ରୀକୃତ, କର୍ତ୍ତାଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବହାର ପାଇଁ ଉପଯୁକ୍ତ, ପୁଣି, ସମସ୍ତ ଉତ୍ତମ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ନିମନ୍ତେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ, ଏପରି ଏକ ସମାଦରର ପାତ୍ର ହେବ। BSB BSB: So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work.
22 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯୌବନ କାଳର ଅଭିଳାଷରୁ ପଳାୟନ କରି, ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଶୁଚି ହୃଦୟରେ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରନ୍ତି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଧାର୍ମିକତା, ବିଶ୍ୱାସ, ପ୍ରେମ ଓ ଶାନ୍ତିର ଅନୁଗାମୀ ହୁଅ। BSB BSB: Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 UDB ଅଜ୍ଞାନୀ ଓ ମୂର୍ଖମାନଙ୍କର ଯୁକ୍ତିତର୍କ ଯେ ବିରୋଧ ଜନ୍ମାଏ, ଏହା ଜାଣି ସେହି ସବୁ ଅଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ କର। ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ କଥା କୁହ ନାହିଁ। କାରଣ ତୁମେ ଜାଣ ସେଥିରୁ କଳିର ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୁଏ। BSB BSB: But reject foolish and ignorant speculation, for you know that it breeds quarreling.
24 UDB ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଦାସ ବିରୋଧ କରିବା ଉଚିତ୍ ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି କୋମଳ, ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେବାରେ ନିପୁଣ ଓ ସହିଷ୍ଣୁ ହେବା ଏବଂ ବିରୋଧ କରୁଥିବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ମୃଦୁ ଭାବରେ ଉପଦେଶ ଦେବା ଉଚିତ୍; BSB BSB: And a servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome, but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, and forbearing.
25 UDB ତାହାହେଲେ କେଜାଣି ଈଶ୍ୱର ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ସତ୍ୟ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ଜ୍ଞାନ ପାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଓ ଅନୁତାପ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ସୁଯୋଗ ଦେବେ। BSB BSB: He must gently reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
26 UDB ସେହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ସେମାନେ ସଠିକ୍ରୂପେ ଚିନ୍ତା କରିବେ ଓ ଶୟତାନର ଫାନ୍ଦରୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର ପାଇଥିବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ପରି ହେବେ। BSB BSB: Then they will come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to his will.
