1 ULB ହେ ମୋହର ପ୍ରିୟମାନେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯେପରି ପାପ ନ କର, ଏଥି ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ଏହି ସବୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖୁଅଛି। କିନ୍ତୁ କେହି ଯଦି ପାପ କରେ, ତାହାହେଲେ ପିତାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଜଣେ ସପକ୍ଷବାଦୀ ଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେ ଧାର୍ମିକ ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ। BSB BSB: My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
2 ULB ଆଉ ସେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପାପ ନିମନ୍ତେ, କେବଳ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପାପ ନିମନ୍ତେ ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ସମସ୍ତ ଜଗତର ପାପ ନିମନ୍ତେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାୟଶ୍ଚିତ୍ତ ସ୍ୱରୂପ ଅଟନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 ULB ଯଦି ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଆଜ୍ଞା ପାଳନ କରୁ, ତେବେ ତଦ୍ୱାରା ଜ୍ଞାତ ହେଉ ଯେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣୁ। BSB BSB: By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.
4 ULB ତାହାଙ୍କ ଆଜ୍ଞା ପାଳନ ନ କରି ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣେ ବୋଲି ଯେ କହେ, ସେ ମିଥ୍ୟାବାଦୀ ଓ ତାହାଠାରେ ସତ୍ୟ ନାହିଁ; BSB BSB: If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 ULB କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ ପାଳନ କରେ, ତାହାଠାରେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ପ୍ରେମ ପ୍ରକୃତ ରୂପେ ସିଦ୍ଧ ହୋଇଅଛି। ଏତଦ୍ଵାରା ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣୁ ଯେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ଅଛୁ। BSB BSB: But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him:
6 ULB ଯେ ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ରହେ ବୋଲି କହେ, ସେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପରି ଆଚରଣ କରିବା ମଧ୍ୟ କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟ। BSB BSB: Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked.
7 ULB ହେ ପ୍ରିୟମାନେ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ କୌଣସି ନୂତନ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଲେଖୁ ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ଆରମ୍ଭରୁ ଯେଉଁ ପୁରାତନ ଆଜ୍ଞା ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପାଇଅଛ, ତାହା ଲେଖୁଅଛି; ଯେଉଁ ବାକ୍ୟ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଶୁଣିଅଛ, ତାହା ହିଁ ସେହି ପୁରାତନ ଆଜ୍ଞା। BSB BSB: Beloved, I am not writing to you a new commandment, but an old one, which you have had from the beginning. This commandment is the message you have heard.
8 ULB ପୁନଶ୍ଚ, ମୁଁ ନୂତନ ଆଜ୍ଞା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖୁଅଛି, ଏହା ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ସତ୍ୟ ବୋଲି ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଏ। କାରଣ ଅନ୍ଧକାର ଘୁଞ୍ଚିଯାଉଅଛି ଓ ସତ୍ୟ ଜ୍ୟୋତିଃ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହେଲାଣି। BSB BSB: Then again, I am also writing to you a new commandment, which is true in Him and also in you. For the darkness is fading and the true light is already shining.
9 ULB ଯେ ଆପଣା ଭାଇକୁ ଘୃଣା କରି କହେ ଯେ, ସେ ଜ୍ୟୋତିଃରେ ଅଛି, ସେ ଏପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଅନ୍ଧକାରରେ ଅଛି। BSB BSB: If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness.
10 ULB ଯେ ଆପଣା ଭାଇକୁ ପ୍ରେମ କରେ, ସେ ଜ୍ୟୋତିଃରେ ରହେ, ପୁଣି, ତାହାଠାରେ ଝୁଣ୍ଟିବାର କୌଣସି କାରଣ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: Whoever loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no cause of stumbling in him.
11 ULB କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେ ଆପଣା ଭାଇକୁ ଘୃଣା କରେ, ସେ ଅନ୍ଧକାରରେ ଅଛି, ପୁଣି, ଅନ୍ଧକାରରେ ଭ୍ରମଣ କରି କେଉଁ ଆଡ଼େ ଯାଉଅଛି, ତାହା ଜାଣେ ନାହିଁ, କାରଣ ଅନ୍ଧକାର ତାହାର ଚକ୍ଷୁକୁ ଅନ୍ଧ କରିଅଛି। BSB BSB: But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 ULB ବତ୍ସଗଣ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖୁଅଛି, କାରଣ ତାହାଙ୍କ ନାମ ସକାଶେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ପାପ କ୍ଷମା ହୋଇଅଛି। BSB BSB: I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven through His name.
13 ULB ହେ ପିତୃଗଣ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖୁଅଛି, କାରଣ ଯେ ଆଦ୍ୟରୁ ଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣିଅଛ। ହେ ଯୁବକମାନେ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖୁଅଛି, କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପାପାତ୍ମାକୁ ଜୟ କରିଅଛ। BSB BSB: I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.
14 ULB ବତ୍ସଗଣ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖିଲି, କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପିତାଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣିଅଛ। ହେ ପିତୃଗଣ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖିଲି, କାରଣ ଯେ ଆଦ୍ୟରୁ ଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣିଅଛ। ହେ ଯୁବକମାନେ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖିଲି, କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବଳବାନ, ପୁଣି, ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ଅଛି ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପାପାତ୍ମାକୁ ଜୟ କରିଅଛ। BSB BSB: I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
15 ULB ସଂସାର କିଅବା ସେଥିରେ ଥିବା ବିଷୟ ସବୁକୁ ପ୍ରେମ ନ କର। କେହି ଯଦି ସଂସାରକୁ ପ୍ରେମ କରେ, ପିତାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରେମ ତାହାଠାରେ ନାହିଁ; BSB BSB: Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 ULB କାରଣ ଶାରୀରିକ ଅଭିଳାଷ, ଚକ୍ଷୁର ଅଭିଳାଷ ଓ ଲୌକିକ ଗର୍ବ, ସଂସାରରେ ଥିବା ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ପିତାଙ୍କଠାରୁ ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ସଂସାରରୁ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ ହୋଇଥାଏ। BSB BSB: For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world.
17 ULB ପୁଣି, ସଂସାର ଓ ସେଥିର ଅଭିଳାଷ ଅନିତ୍ୟ, ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଇଚ୍ଛା ପାଳନ କରେ, ସେ ନିତ୍ୟସ୍ଥାୟୀ। BSB BSB: The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.
18 ULB ହେ ବତ୍ସଗଣ, ଶେଷକାଳ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ, ପୁଣି, ଭଣ୍ଡଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଆସିବ ବୋଲି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯେପରି ଶୁଣିଥିଲ, ସେହିପରି ଏବେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅନେକ ଭଣ୍ଡଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଉଠିଲେଣି; ଏତଦ୍ଵାରା ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣୁଅଛୁ ଯେ, ଶେଷକାଳ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ। BSB BSB: Children, it is the last hour; and just as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour.
20 ULB ଆଉ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସେହି ପବିତ୍ର ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଅଭିଷେକ ପାଇଥିବାରୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଜ୍ଞାନ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହୋଇଅଛ। BSB BSB: You, however, have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.
21 ULB ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସତ୍ୟ ଜାଣି ନ ଥିବାରୁ ମୁଁ ଯେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖିଲି, ତାହା ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସତ୍ୟ ଜାଣିଥିବାରୁ ଓ କୌଣସି ମିଥ୍ୟା ସତ୍ୟରୁ ଜାତ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ ବୋଲି ଜାଣିଥିବାରୁ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଲେଖିଲି। BSB BSB: I have not written to you because you lack knowledge of the truth, but because you have it, and because no lie comes from the truth.
23 ULB ଯେ ପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ନାସ୍ତି କରେ, ସେ ପିତାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ କରି ନାହିଁ; ଯେ ପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ୱୀକାର କରେ, ସେ ପିତାଙ୍କୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ କରିଅଛି। BSB BSB: Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.
24 ULB ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆରମ୍ଭରୁ ଯାହା ଶୁଣିଅଛ, ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ଥାଉ। ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆରମ୍ଭରୁ ଯାହା ଶୁଣିଅଛ, ତାହା ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ଥାଏ, ତାହାହେଲେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପୁତ୍ର ଓ ପିତାଙ୍କଠାରେ ରହିବ। BSB BSB: As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father.
25 ULB ଆଉ ସେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯାହା ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହା ଅନନ୍ତ ଜୀବନ। BSB BSB: And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life.
26 ULB ଯେଉଁମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭ୍ରାନ୍ତ କରିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରନ୍ତି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ ଲେଖିଲି। BSB BSB: I have written these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you.
27 ULB କିନ୍ତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଯେଉଁ ଅଭିଷେକ ପାଇଅଛ, ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ରହିଅଛି, ପୁଣି, କେହି ଯେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେବ, ଏହା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସେହି ଅଭିଷେକ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ଯେଉଁ ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦିଏ, ତାହା ସତ୍ୟ ଅଟେ, ମିଥ୍ୟା ନୁହେଁ; ଏଣୁ ସେହି ଶିକ୍ଷା ଅନୁସାରେ ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ରୁହ। BSB BSB: And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.
28 ULB ଅତଏବ, ହେ ବତ୍ସଗଣ, ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ରୁହ, ଯେପରି ସେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହେବେ, ସେତେବେଳେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଆଗମନ ସମୟରେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଲଜ୍ଜିତ ନ ହୋଇ ସାହସ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହେବା। BSB BSB: And now, little children, remain in Christ, so that when He appears, we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.
29 ULB ସେ ଧାର୍ମିକ ଅଟନ୍ତି, ଏହା ଯଦି ଜାଣ, ତେବେ ଯେ କେହି ଧର୍ମାଚରଣ କରେ, ସେ ଯେ ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଜାତ, ଏହା ମଧ୍ୟ ଜାଣ| BSB BSB: If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of Him.
