1 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶଲୋମନ ମିସରର ରାଜା ଫାରୋ ସହିତ ଆତ୍ମୀୟତା କରି ଫାରୋର କନ୍ୟାକୁ ବିବାହ କଲେ ଓ ଆପଣା ଗୃହ ଓ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଗୃହ ଓ ଯିରୂଶାଲମର ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦିଗସ୍ଥ ପ୍ରାଚୀରର ନିର୍ମାଣ ସମାପ୍ତ ହେବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ତାହାକୁ ଆଣି ଦାଉଦ-ନଗରରେ ରଖିଲେ। BSB BSB: Later, Solomon formed an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt by marrying his daughter. Solomon brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his palace and the house of the LORD, as well as the wall around Jerusalem.
2 ULB ମାତ୍ର, ଲୋକମାନେ ନାନା ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ଥଳୀରେ ବଳିଦାନ କରୁଥିଲେ, କାରଣ ସେହି ସମୟ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନାମ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ କୌଣସି ଗୃହ ନିର୍ମିତ ହୋଇ ନ ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: The people, however, were still sacrificing on the high places because a house for the Name of the LORD had not yet been built.
3 ULB ପୁଣି, ଶଲୋମନ ଆପଣା ପିତା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ବିଧି ଅନୁସାରେ ଆଚରଣ କରି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରେମ କଲେ; କେବଳ ସେ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ଥଳୀମାନରେ ବଳିଦାନ କଲେ ଓ ଧୂପ ଜ୍ୱଳାଇଲେ। BSB BSB: And Solomon loved the LORD and walked in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
4 ULB ପୁଣି, ରାଜା ବଳିଦାନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଗିବୀୟୋନ୍ ନଗରକୁ ଗଲେ; କାରଣ ତାହା ବଡ଼ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ଥଳୀ ଥିଲା; ଶଲୋମନ ସେହି ଯଜ୍ଞବେଦି ଉପରେ ଏକ ସହସ୍ର ହୋମବଳି ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କଲେ। BSB BSB: Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for it was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on the altar there.
5 ULB ଗିବୀୟୋନ୍ରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ରାତ୍ରିରେ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଶଲୋମନଙ୍କୁ ଦର୍ଶନ ଦେଲେ; ଆଉ, ପରମେଶ୍ୱର କହିଲେ, “ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ କଅଣ ଦେବା, ତାହା ମାଗ।” BSB BSB: One night at Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “Ask, and I will give it to you!”
6 ULB ତହିଁରେ ଶଲୋମନ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭ ଦାସ ଆମ୍ଭ ପିତା ଦାଉଦ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଛାମୁରେ ସତ୍ୟତା ଓ ଧାର୍ମିକତା ଓ ମନର ସରଳତାରେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ସହିତ ଗମନାଗମନ କରିବା ପ୍ରମାଣେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ମହାଦୟା ପ୍ରକାଶ କଲ; ଆହୁରି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତାଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଏହି ମହାଦୟା ରଖିଅଛ ଯେ, ଆଜିର ନ୍ୟାୟ ତାଙ୍କର ସିଂହାସନରେ ବସିବା ପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଏକ ପୁତ୍ର ଦେଇଅଛ। BSB BSB: Solomon replied, “You have shown much loving devotion to Your servant, my father David, because he walked before You in faithfulness, righteousness, and uprightness of heart. And You have maintained this loving devotion by giving him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
7 ULB ଏବେ ହେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ, ମୋହର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋ’ ପିତା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ପଦରେ ଆପଣାର ଏହି ଦାସକୁ ରାଜା କରିଅଛ; ମାତ୍ର, ମୁଁ ତ କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ର ବାଳକ; କିପରି ବାହାରକୁ ଯିବାକୁ ଓ ଭିତରକୁ ଆସିବାକୁ ହୁଏ, ତାହା ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: And now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king in my father David’s place. But I am only a little child, not knowing how to go out or come in.
8 ULB ଆଉ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଦାସ ତୁମ୍ଭ ମନୋନୀତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଅଛି, ସେମାନେ ବାହୁଲ୍ୟ ସକାଶୁ ଅଗଣ୍ୟ ଓ ଅସଂଖ୍ୟ ଏକ ମହାଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ଅଟନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: Your servant is here among the people You have chosen, a people too numerous to count or number.
9 ULB ଏହେତୁ ଯେପରି ଆମ୍ଭେ ଭଲ ଓ ମନ୍ଦର ପ୍ରଭେଦ ଜାଣି ପାରିବୁ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ବିଚାର କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଏହି ଦାସକୁ ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ମନ ଦିଅ; କାରଣ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଏହି ମହାଗୋଷ୍ଠୀର ବିଚାର କରିବାକୁ କିଏ ସମର୍ଥ?” BSB BSB: Therefore give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people and to discern between good and evil. For who is able to govern this great people of Yours?”
10 ULB ଶଲୋମନ ଯେ ଏହି ବିଷୟ ମାଗିଲେ, ଏହି କଥାରେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had made this request.
11 ULB ଏଥିରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏହି ବିଷୟ ମାଗିଅଛ, ପୁଣି, ଆପଣା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଦୀର୍ଘାୟୁ ମାଗି ନାହଁ; କିଅବା ଆପଣା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଐଶ୍ୱର୍ଯ୍ୟ ମାଗି ନାହଁ; ଅଥବା ଆପଣା ଶତ୍ରୁମାନଙ୍କର ପ୍ରାଣ ମାଗି ନାହଁ; ମାତ୍ର ବିଚାର କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆପଣା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଜ୍ଞାନ ମାଗିଅଛ; BSB BSB: So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this instead of requesting long life or wealth for yourself or death for your enemies—but you have asked for discernment to administer justice—
12 ULB ଏହେତୁ ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ବାକ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ କଲୁ; ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଏପରି ଜ୍ଞାନ ଓ ବୁଦ୍ଧିବିଶିଷ୍ଟ ମନ ଦେଲୁ ଯେ, ତୁମ୍ଭ ପୂର୍ବେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ସମାନ କେହି ହୋଇ ନାହିଁ, କିଅବା ତୁମ୍ଭ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ସମାନ କେହି ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ ହେବ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: behold, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been another like you, nor will there ever be.
13 ULB ଆହୁରି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେଉଁ ଐଶ୍ୱର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଓ ପ୍ରତାପ ମାଗି ନାହଁ, ସେହି ଦୁଇ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଏପରି ଦେଲୁ ଯେ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଯାବଜ୍ଜୀବନ ରାଜାମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କେହି ତୁମ୍ଭ ସମାନ ହେବ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: Moreover, I will give you what you did not request—both riches and honor—so that during all your days no man in any kingdom will be your equal.
14 ULB ପୁଣି, ତୁମ୍ଭ ପିତା ଦାଉଦ ଯେପରି ଗମନ କଲା, ସେପରି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯଦି ଆମ୍ଭର ବିଧି ଓ ଆଜ୍ଞା ପାଳନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆମ୍ଭ ପଥରେ ଗମନ କରିବ, ତେବେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଆୟୁଷ ବୃଦ୍ଧି କରିବା।” BSB BSB: So if you walk in My ways and keep My statutes and commandments, just as your father David did, I will prolong your days.”
15 ULB ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶଲୋମନ ଜାଗ୍ରତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଦେଖ, ଏହା ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ-ମାତ୍ର; ତହୁଁ ସେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମକୁ ଯାଇ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିୟମ-ସିନ୍ଦୁକ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ହୋମବଳି ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କଲେ ଓ ମଙ୍ଗଳାର୍ଥକ ବଳି ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କରି ଆପଣା ସମସ୍ତ ଦାସଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ଭୋଜ କଲେ। BSB BSB: Then Solomon awoke, and indeed it had been a dream. So he returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then he held a feast for all his servants.
16 ULB ସେହି ସମୟରେ ଦୁଇ ବେଶ୍ୟା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସି ତାଙ୍କର ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଠିଆ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: At that time two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.
17 ULB ପୁଣି, ଏକ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ କହିଲା, “ହେ ମୋହର ପ୍ରଭୁ, ମୁଁ ଓ ଏହି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଏକ ଘରେ ବାସ କରୁ; ଆଉ, ମୁଁ ସେହି ଗୃହରେ ତାହା ସଙ୍ଗେ ଥାଇ ଏକ ସନ୍ତାନ ପ୍ରସବ କଲି। BSB BSB: One woman said, “Please, my lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I gave birth while she was in the house.
18 ULB ପୁଣି, ମୋହର ପ୍ରସବର ତୃତୀୟ ଦିନରେ ଏହି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରସବ କଲା ଓ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଦୁହେଁ ଏକତ୍ର ଥିଲୁ, ସେହି ଘରେ ଆମ୍ଭ ଦୁହିଁଙ୍କ ଛଡ଼ା ଅନ୍ୟ କୌଣସି ବାହାର ଲୋକ ନ ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: On the third day after I gave birth, this woman also had a baby. We were alone, with no one in the house but the two of us.
19 ULB ଆଉ ଏହି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଆପଣା ପିଲା ଉପରେ ଲଦି ହୋଇ ଶୋଇବାରୁ ତାହାର ପିଲା ରାତ୍ରିରେ ମରିଗଲା। BSB BSB: During the night this woman’s son died because she rolled over on him.
20 ULB ଏଣୁ ସେ ମଧ୍ୟରାତ୍ରରେ ଉଠି ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଦାସୀ ନିଦ୍ରିତା ଥିବା ବେଳେ ମୋ’ ପାଖରୁ ମୋହର ପୁତ୍ରକୁ ନେଇ ଆପଣା କୋଳରେ ଶୁଆଇଲା ଓ ତାହାର ମଲା ପିଲାକୁ ମୋ’ କୋଳରେ ଶୁଆଇ ଦେଲା। BSB BSB: So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I was asleep. She laid him in her bosom and put her dead son at my bosom.
21 ULB ତହୁଁ ମୁଁ ସକାଳେ ଆପଣା ପିଲାକୁ ସ୍ତନ୍ୟପାନ କରାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଉଠାନ୍ତେ, ଦେଖ, ସେ ମରିଯାଇଅଛି; ମାତ୍ର, ସକାଳେ ମୁଁ ଭଲ କରି ପରଖ କରନ୍ତେ, ଦେଖ, ଏ ତ ମୋହର ଜନ୍ମ କଲା ପୁତ୍ର ନୁହେଁ।” BSB BSB: The next morning, when I got up to nurse my son, I discovered he was dead. But when I examined him, I realized that he was not the son I had borne.”
22 ULB ତହୁଁ ସେ ଅନ୍ୟ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ କହିଲା, “ନା, ମାତ୍ର ଜୀଅନ୍ତାଟି ମୋହର ପୁଅ ଓ ମଲାଟି ତୁମ୍ଭର ପୁଅ।” ଆଉ, ଏ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ କହିଲା, “ନା; ମଲାଟି ତୁମ୍ଭର ପୁଅ ଓ ଜୀଅନ୍ତାଟି ମୋହର ପୁଅ।” ଏହିରୂପେ ସେମାନେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ଗୁହାରି କଲେ। BSB BSB: “No,” said the other woman, “the living one is my son and the dead one is your son.” But the first woman insisted, “No, the dead one is yours and the living one is mine.” So they argued before the king.
23 ULB ତେବେ ରାଜା କହିଲେ, “ଜଣେ କହୁଛି, ଜୀଅନ୍ତାଟି ମୋହର ପୁଅ ଓ ମଲାଟି ତୁମ୍ଭର ପୁଅ; ପୁଣି, ଅନ୍ୟ ଜଣ କହୁଛି, ନା; ମାତ୍ର, ମଲାଟି ତୁମ୍ଭର ପୁଅ ଓ ଜୀଅନ୍ତାଟି ମୋହର ପୁଅ।” BSB BSB: Then the king replied, “This woman says, ‘My son is alive and yours is dead,’ but that woman says, ‘No, your son is dead and mine is alive.’”
24 ULB ଏଥିରେ ରାଜା କହିଲେ, “ମୋହର ନିକଟକୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ଖଣ୍ଡା ଆଣ।” ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁକୁ ଖଣ୍ଡା ଆଣିଲେ। BSB BSB: The king continued, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought him a sword,
25 ULB ତହିଁରେ ରାଜା କହିଲେ, “ଏହି ଜୀଅନ୍ତା ପିଲାକୁ ଦୁଇ ଖଣ୍ଡ କରି ଜଣକୁ ଅଧେ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟ ଜଣକୁ ଅଧେ ଦିଅ।” BSB BSB: and the king declared, “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.”
26 ULB ଏଥିରେ ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀର ପିଲା ଜୀବିତ ଥିଲା, ତାହାର ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣ ଆପଣା ପୁତ୍ର ପ୍ରତି ସ୍ନେହରେ ଉତ୍ତପ୍ତ ହେଲା, ଏଣୁ ସେ ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ହେ ମୋହର ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଜୀଅନ୍ତା ପିଲାଟି ତାକୁ ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ, କୌଣସିମତେ ତାକୁ ବଧ ନ କରନ୍ତୁ। ମାତ୍ର, ଅନ୍ୟ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ କହିଲା, “ସେ ମୋହର ନୋହୁ କି ତୁମ୍ଭର ନୋହୁ; ତାକୁ ଦୁଇ ଖଣ୍ଡ କର।” BSB BSB: Then the woman whose son was alive spoke to the king because she yearned with compassion for her son. “Please, my lord,” she said, “give her the living baby. Do not kill him!” But the other woman said, “He will be neither mine nor yours. Cut him in two!”
27 ULB ସେତେବେଳେ ରାଜା ଉତ୍ତର କରି କହିଲେ, “ଏହାକୁ ଜୀବିତ ବାଳକଟି ଦିଅ, କୌଣସିମତେ ବଧ ନ କର; ସେ ତ ତାହାର ମାତା।” BSB BSB: Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the living baby to the first woman. By no means should you kill him; she is his mother.”
28 ULB ଆଉ ସମଗ୍ର ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ରାଜାଙ୍କର ଏହି ବିଚାରର ନିଷ୍ପତ୍ତି ବିଷୟ ଶୁଣି ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ଭୟ କଲେ; କାରଣ, ସେମାନେ ଦେଖିଲେ ଯେ, ବିଚାର କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ତାଙ୍କର ଅନ୍ତରରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର-ଦତ୍ତ ଜ୍ଞାନ ଅଛି। BSB BSB: When all Israel heard of the judgment the king had given, they stood in awe of him, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice.
