1 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ମନେ ମନେ କହିଲେ, ଏବେ ମୁଁ କୌଣସି ଦିନ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରେ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେବି; ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଦେଶକୁ ପଳାଇ ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇବା ବିନୁ ମୋହର ଆଉ କିଛି ଭଲ ଉପାୟ ନାହିଁ; ତହିଁରେ ଶାଉଲ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ସମସ୍ତ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରେ ମୋତେ ଖୋଜି ଖୋଜି ନିରାଶ ହେବେ; ଏହିରୂପେ ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରୁ ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇବି। BSB BSB: David, however, said to himself, “One of these days now I will be swept away by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will stop searching for me all over Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.”
2 ULB ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ଥିବା ଛଅ ଶହ ଲୋକ ଉଠି ପାର ହୋଇ ମୋୟାବର ପୁତ୍ର ଆଖୀଶ୍ ନାମକ ଗାଥ୍ର ରାଜା ନିକଟକୁ ଗଲେ। BSB BSB: So David set out with his six hundred men and went to Achish son of Maoch, the king of Gath.
3 ULB ପୁଣି, ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଜଣ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ପରିବାର ସହିତ ଆଖୀଶ୍ ନିକଟରେ ଗାଥ୍ ନଗରରେ ବାସ କଲେ, ବିଶେଷତଃ ଦାଉଦ ଓ ଯିଷ୍ରିୟେଲୀୟା ଅହୀନୋୟମ୍ ଓ ନାବଲର ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା କର୍ମିଲୀୟା ଅବୀଗଲ ନାମ୍ନୀ ତାଙ୍କର ଏହି ଦୁଇ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ସେଠାରେ ବାସ କଲେ। BSB BSB: David and his men settled in Gath with Achish. Each man had his family with him, and David had his two wives: Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail of Carmel, the widow of Nabal.
4 ULB ଏଣୁ ଦାଉଦ ଗାଥ୍କୁ ପଳାଇଅଛି, ଏହି କଥା ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଇ ଦିଆଯାଆନ୍ତେ, ସେ ପୁନର୍ବାର ତାଙ୍କର ଆଉ ଅନ୍ୱେଷଣ କଲେ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: And when Saul learned that David had fled to Gath, he no longer searched for him.
5 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ଆଖୀଶ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଯେବେ ମୁଁ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ପାଇଅଛି, ତେବେ ମୋହର ବାସ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଦେଶର ଲୋକମାନେ କୌଣସି ନଗରରେ ମୋତେ ସ୍ଥାନ ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ; କାହିଁକି ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଦାସ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ସହିତ ରାଜଧାନୀରେ ବାସ କରିବ? BSB BSB: Then David said to Achish, “If I have found favor in your eyes, let me be assigned a place in one of the outlying towns, so I can live there. For why should your servant live in the royal city with you?”
6 ULB ତହିଁରେ ଆଖୀଶ୍ ସେହି ଦିନ ତାହାକୁ ସିକ୍ଲଗ୍ ନଗର ଦେଲା; ଏହି ହେତୁ ଆଜି ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସିକ୍ଲଗ୍ ଯିହୁଦା ରାଜାମାନଙ୍କ ଅଧିକାରରେ ଅଛି। BSB BSB: That day Achish gave him Ziklag, and to this day it still belongs to the kings of Judah.
7 ULB ଦାଉଦ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଦେଶରେ ବାସ କରିବା ଦିନର ସଂଖ୍ୟା ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଏକ ବର୍ଷ ଚାରି ମାସ ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: And the time that David lived in Philistine territory amounted to a year and four months.
8 ULB ଏଥି ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନେ ଯାଇ ଗଶୂରୀୟ ଓ ଗିଷରୀୟ ଓ ଅମାଲେକୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରୁଥାଆନ୍ତି; କାରଣ ଶୂରର ସନ୍ନିକଟ ଓ ମିସର ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଯେଉଁ ଦେଶ, ତହିଁ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପୂର୍ବକାଳରୁ ସେମାନେ ବାସ କରୁଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Now David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites. (From ancient times these people had inhabited the land extending to Shur and Egypt.)
9 ULB ପୁଣି, ଦାଉଦ ସେହି ଦେଶ ନିବାସୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଘାତ କରି ପୁରୁଷ ଓ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ କାହାକୁ ହିଁ ଜୀବିତ ରଖନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ ଓ ମେଷ, ଗୋରୁ, ଗର୍ଦ୍ଦଭ, ଉଷ୍ଟ୍ର ଓ ବସ୍ତ୍ରାଦି ଲୁଟ କରି ଆଖୀଶ୍ ନିକଟକୁ ଫେରି ଆସନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: Whenever David attacked a territory, he did not leave a man or woman alive, but he took the flocks and herds, the donkeys, camels, and clothing. Then he would return to Achish,
10 ULB ଏଥିରେ ଆଜି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କେଉଁ ସ୍ଥାନ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲ ବୋଲି ଆଖୀଶ୍ ପଚାରନ୍ତେ, ଦାଉଦ କହନ୍ତି, ଯିହୁଦାର ଦକ୍ଷିଣାଞ୍ଚଳ ଓ ଯିରହମେଲୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଦକ୍ଷିଣାଞ୍ଚଳ ଓ କେନୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଦକ୍ଷିଣାଞ୍ଚଳ। BSB BSB: who would ask him, “What have you raided today?” And David would reply, “The Negev of Judah,” or “The Negev of Jerahmeel,” or “The Negev of the Kenites.”
11 ULB ପୁଣି, ଦାଉଦ ଏପରି କରନ୍ତି ଓ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଦେଶରେ ବାସ କରିବା ସମୟାବଧି ଏପରି କରିବାର ତାଙ୍କର ରୀତି ହୋଇଅଛି, ଏହି କଥା କେହି ଅବା ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ କହିବ ବୋଲି ଭାବି ଦାଉଦ ଗାଥ୍କୁ ଆଣିବା ପାଇଁ ପୁରୁଷ କି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ କାହାକୁ ଜୀବିତ ରଖନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: David did not leave a man or woman alive to be brought to Gath, for he said, “Otherwise they will report us, saying, ‘This is what David did.’” And this was David’s custom the whole time he lived in Philistine territory.
12 ULB ଏହେତୁ ଆଖୀଶ୍ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରି କହିଲା, ସେ ଆପଣା ଲୋକ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ନିକଟରେ ଆପଣାକୁ ନିତାନ୍ତ ଦୁର୍ଗନ୍ଧ ସ୍ୱରୂପ କରିଅଛି; ଏଣୁ ସେ ସର୍ବଦା ମୋହର ଦାସ ହୋଇ ରହିବ। BSB BSB: So Achish trusted David, thinking, “Since he has made himself an utter stench to his people Israel, he will be my servant forever.”
