Gold and silver couches were arranged on a mosaic pavement of porphyry, marble, mother-of-pearl, and other costly stones.
7 ULB ଆଉ, ସେମାନେ ନାନା ପ୍ରକାର ସୁବର୍ଣ୍ଣ ପାତ୍ରରେ ପାନଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ଓ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଉଦାରତାନୁସାରେ ପ୍ରଚୁର ରାଜକୀୟ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ଦେଲେ। BSB BSB: Beverages were served in an array of goblets of gold, each with a different design, and the royal wine flowed freely, according to the king’s bounty.
8 ULB ଯଦ୍ୟପି ପାନ କରିବା ବିଧିଗତ ଥିଲା; କିନ୍ତୁ କାହାରି ପାଇଁ ପାନ କରିବା ବାଧ୍ୟତାମୁଳକ କରାଯାଇନଥିଲା; କାରଣ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଜଣକୁ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଇଚ୍ଛାନୁସାରେ ପାନ କରିବାର ଅନୁମତି ଦେବା ପାଇଁ ରାଜା ଆପଣାର ଗୃହାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: By order of the king, no limit was placed on the drinking, and every official of his household was to serve each man whatever he desired.
9 ULB ମଧ୍ୟ ରାଣୀ ବଷ୍ଟୀ ଅକ୍ଷଶ୍ୱେରଶର ରାଜଗୃହରେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଭୋଜ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କଲେ। BSB BSB: Queen Vashti also gave a banquet for the women in the royal palace of King Xerxes.
10 ULB ସପ୍ତମ ଦିନରେ ରାଜା ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସରେ ହୃଷ୍ଟଚିତ୍ତ ହୋଇ ମହୂମନ୍, ବିସ୍ଥା, ହର୍ବୋଣା, ବିଗ୍ଥା ଓ ଅବଗଥ, ସେଥର ଓ କର୍କସ, ଅକ୍ଷଶ୍ୱେରଶ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁସ୍ଥ ଏହି ସାତ ସେବାକାରୀ ନପୁଂସକଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଲେ, BSB BSB: On the seventh day, when the king’s heart was merry with wine, he ordered the seven eunuchs who served him—Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carkas—
11 ULB “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଓ ଅଧିପତିଗଣଙ୍କୁ ବଷ୍ଟୀ ରାଣୀର ସୌନ୍ଦର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଦେଖାଇବା ପାଇଁ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ରାଜମୁକୁଟରେ ଭୂଷିତା କରି ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁକୁ ଆଣ,” ଯେଣୁ ସେ ପରମ ସୁନ୍ଦରୀ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: to bring Queen Vashti before him, wearing her royal crown, to display her beauty to the people and officials. For she was beautiful to behold.
12 ULB ମାତ୍ର ବଷ୍ଟୀ ରାଣୀ ନପୁଂସକମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ରାଜାଙ୍କ କଥିତ ଆଜ୍ଞାରେ ଆସିବାକୁ ଅସମ୍ମତା ହେଲା; ଏଣୁ ରାଜା ଅତିଶୟ କ୍ରୋଧ କଲେ ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ଅନ୍ତରରେ କ୍ରୋଧ ପ୍ରଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳିତ ହେଲା। BSB BSB: Queen Vashti, however, refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs. And the king became furious, and his anger burned within him.
13 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ରାଜା ସମୟ ଓ କାଳର ବିଦ୍ୱାନ୍ବର୍ଗଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, (କାରଣ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଓ ରାଜନୀତିଜ୍ଞମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏରୂପ ପଚାରିବାର ରାଜାଙ୍କ ରୀତି ଥିଲା; BSB BSB: Then the king consulted the wise men who knew the times, for it was customary for him to confer with the experts in law and justice.
14 ULB ଆଉ, ଏହି ସମୟରେ କର୍ଶନା, ଶେଥର, ଅଦ୍ମାଥା, ତର୍ଶୀଶ, ମେରସ୍, ମେର୍ସନା ଓ ମମୁଖନ୍ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ନିକଟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ଥିଲେ; ଏହି ସାତ ଜଣ ପାରସ୍ୟ ଓ ମାଦୀୟା ଦେଶର ଅଧିପତି, ରାଜାଙ୍କ ମୁଖଦର୍ଶନକାରୀ, ପୁଣି ରାଜ୍ୟର ଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଉପବିଷ୍ଟ ଥିଲେ;) BSB BSB: His closest advisors were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media who had personal access to the king and ranked highest in the kingdom.
15 ULB (ରାଜା ପଚାରିଲେ) “ବଷ୍ଟୀ ରାଣୀ ନପୁଂସକମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ପ୍ରେରିତ ଅକ୍ଷଶ୍ୱେରଶ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଆଜ୍ଞା ନ ମାନିବାରୁ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାନୁସାରେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କଅଣ କରିବା? BSB BSB: “According to law,” he asked, “what should be done with Queen Vashti, since she refused to obey the command of King Xerxes delivered by the eunuchs?”
16 ULB ଏଥିରେ ମମୁଖନ୍ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଓ ଅଧିପତିଗଣଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲା,” ବଷ୍ଟୀ ରାଣୀ କେବଳ ମହାରାଜାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ଅକ୍ଷଶ୍ୱେରଶ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଅଧୀନ ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରଦେଶର ଯାବତୀୟ ଅଧିପତି ଓ ଯାବତୀୟ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଅନୁଚିତ କର୍ମ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: And in the presence of the king and his princes, Memucan replied, “Queen Vashti has wronged not only the king, but all the princes and the peoples in all the provinces of King Xerxes.
17 ULB କାରଣ ରାଣୀଙ୍କ ଏହି କର୍ମର କଥା ସକଳ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଲୋକଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବ୍ୟାପିଯିବ, ଆଉ ଅକ୍ଷଶ୍ୱେରଶ ରାଜା ବଷ୍ଟୀ ରାଣୀଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣା ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣିବାକୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଲେ, ମାତ୍ର ସେ ଆସିଲେ ନାହିଁ; ଏହି ସମ୍ବାଦ ପାଇଲେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାମୀମାନେ ତୁଚ୍ଛନୀୟ ହେବେ। BSB BSB: For the conduct of the queen will become known to all women, causing them to despise their husbands and say, ‘King Xerxes ordered Queen Vashti to be brought before him, but she did not come.’
18 ULB ଆଉ, ପାରସ୍ୟ ଓ ମାଦୀୟାର ଯେଉଁ କୁଳୀନା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଗଣ ରାଣୀଙ୍କ ଏହି କର୍ମର ସମାଚାର ଆଜି ଶୁଣିଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେମାନେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ସମସ୍ତ ଅଧିପତିଙ୍କୁ ଏହିରୂପେ କହିବେ, ତହିଁରୁ ଅତିଶୟ ନିନ୍ଦା ଓ କ୍ରୋଧ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ ହେବ। BSB BSB: This very day the noble women of Persia and Media who have heard about the queen’s conduct will say the same thing to all the king’s officials, resulting in much contempt and wrath.
19 ULB ଏନିମନ୍ତେ ଯେବେ ମହାରାଜା ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ତେବେ ବଷ୍ଟୀ ଅକ୍ଷଶ୍ୱେରଶ ରାଜା ନିକଟକୁ ଆଉ ନ ଆସିବାକୁ ରାଜାଜ୍ଞା ଶ୍ରୀଛାମୁରୁ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହେଉ; ପୁଣି, ଏହା ଅନ୍ୟଥା ନୋହିବା ପାଇଁ ପାରସିକ ଓ ମାଦୀୟ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଲିଖିତ ହେଉ; ପୁଣି, ମହାରାଜା ତାହାର ରାଣୀପଦ ଅନ୍ୟକୁ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ ଯେ ତାହା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଅଧିକ ଉତ୍ତମ ଅଟନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: So if it pleases the king, let him issue a royal decree, and let it be recorded in the laws of Persia and Media so that it cannot be repealed, that Vashti shall never again enter the presence of King Xerxes, and that her royal position shall be given to a woman better than she.
20 ULB ଆହୁରି, ରାଜ୍ୟ ବୃହତ, ଏଣୁ ରାଜ୍ୟର ସବୁ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଏହି ରାଜାଜ୍ଞା ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହେଲେ, ସ୍ୱାମୀ କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ର ହେଉ କି ମହାନ୍ ହେଉ, ସମସ୍ତ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାମାନେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ସ୍ୱାମୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ମର୍ଯ୍ୟାଦା କରିବେ।” BSB BSB: The edict the king issues will be heard throughout his vast kingdom—and so all women, from the least to the greatest, will honor their husbands.”
21 ULB ଏହି କଥାରେ ରାଜା ଓ ଅଧିପତିଗଣ ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ରାଜା ମମୁଖନ୍ର ପରାମର୍ଶାନୁସାରେ କର୍ମ କଲେ। BSB BSB: The king and his princes were pleased with this counsel; so the king did as Memucan advised.
22 ULB ତହୁଁ ସେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ପ୍ରଦେଶର ଅକ୍ଷରାନୁସାରେ ଓ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀର ଭାଷାନୁସାରେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଅଧୀନ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ପ୍ରଦେଶକୁ ଏହିରୂପେ ପତ୍ର ପଠାଇଲେ, “ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ପୁରୁଷ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଗୃହରେ କର୍ତ୍ତୃତ୍ୱ କରୁ ଓ ସ୍ୱଗୋଷ୍ଠୀୟ ଭାଷାନୁସାରେ ତାହା ପ୍ରଚାର କରୁ।” BSB BSB: He sent letters to all the provinces of the kingdom, to each province in its own script and to each people in their own language, proclaiming that every man should be master of his own household.
