1 ULB ଇସ୍ରାଏଲଙ୍କର ଯେଉଁ ପୁତ୍ରଗଣ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ପରିଜନ ଘେନି ଯାକୁବଙ୍କ ସହିତ ମିସର ଦେଶକୁ ଆସିଲେ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନାମ; BSB BSB: These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family:
2 ULB ରୁବେନ୍, ଶିମୀୟୋନ, ଲେବୀ ଓ ଯିହୁଦା; BSB BSB: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;
3 ULB ଇଷାଖର, ସବୂଲୂନ ଓ ବିନ୍ୟାମୀନ୍; BSB BSB: Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin;
4 ULB ଦାନ୍ ଓ ନପ୍ତାଲି; ଗାଦ୍ ଓ ଆଶେର। BSB BSB: Dan and Naphtali; Gad and Asher.
5 ULB ସର୍ବସୁଦ୍ଧା ଯାକୁବଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ ବଂଶ ସତୁରି ପ୍ରାଣୀ ଥିଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ଯୋଷେଫ ପୂର୍ବେ ମିସରରେ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all, including Joseph, who was already in Egypt.
6 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋଷେଫ, ତାଙ୍କର ଭ୍ରାତୃଗଣ ଓ ତତ୍କାଳୀନ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ମଲେ। BSB BSB: Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died,
7 ULB ତଥାପି ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ବଂଶ ବହୁପ୍ରଜ, ବର୍ଦ୍ଧିଷ୍ଣୁ ଓ ବହୁଗୋଷ୍ଠୀକ ହୋଇ ଅତିଶୟ ପ୍ରବଳ ହେଲେ, ପୁଣି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଦେଶ ପରିପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହେଲା। BSB BSB: but the Israelites were fruitful and increased rapidly; they multiplied and became exceedingly numerous, so that the land was filled with them.
8 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯେ ଯୋଷେଫଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣି ନ ଥିଲେ, ଏପରି ଏକ ନୂତନ ରାଜା ମିସର ଦେଶରେ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: Then a new king, who did not know Joseph, came to power in Egypt.
9 ULB ସେ ଆପଣା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଦେଖ, ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ ବଂଶ, ବଳରେ ଓ ସଂଖ୍ୟାରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ଅଟନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become too numerous and too powerful for us.
10 ULB ସେମାନେ ଯେପରି ବର୍ଦ୍ଧିତ ନ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ପୁଣି, ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ଘଟିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଶତ୍ରୁପକ୍ଷ ହୋଇ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ନ କରନ୍ତି ଓ ଏ ଦେଶରୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ ନ କରନ୍ତି, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଆସ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ସାବଧାନ ହୋଇ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରୁ।” BSB BSB: Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, or they will increase even more; and if a war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country.”
12 ULB ମାତ୍ର ସେମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯେତେ ଅଧିକ କ୍ଳେଶ ଦେଲେ, ସେମାନେ ସେତେ ଅଧିକ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇଲେ, ପୁଣି, ସେତେ ଅଧିକ ବ୍ୟାପି ଗଲେ। ଏହେତୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେମାନେ ଅତିଶୟ ଉଦ୍ବିଗ୍ନ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and flourished; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites.
13 ULB ତହିଁରେ ମିସ୍ରୀୟ ଲୋକମାନେ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦୟ ଭାବରେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦାସ୍ୟକର୍ମ କରାଇଲେ। BSB BSB: They worked the Israelites ruthlessly
15 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ମିସ୍ରୀୟ ରାଜା, ଶିଫ୍ରା ଓ ପୂୟା ନାମ୍ନୀ ଦୁଇ ଏବ୍ରୀୟା ଧାତ୍ରୀଙ୍କୁ ଏହି କଥା କହିଲେ, BSB BSB: Then the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah,
16 ULB “ଯେଉଁ ସମୟରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏବ୍ରୀୟା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କର ଧାତ୍ରୀକାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜନ୍ମାସନରେ ଦେଖିବ; ସେ ସମୟରେ ଯଦି ପୁତ୍ରସନ୍ତାନ ହେବ, ତେବେ ତାକୁ ବଧ କରିବ; ଆଉ ଯଦି କନ୍ୟା ହେବ, ତେବେ ତାକୁ ଜୀବିତ ରଖିବ।” BSB BSB: “When you help the Hebrew women give birth, observe them on the birthstools. If the child is a son, kill him; but if it is a daughter, let her live.”
17 ULB ମାତ୍ର ସେହି ଧାତ୍ରୀମାନେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଭୟ କରିବାରୁ ମିସ୍ରୀୟ ରାଜାଙ୍କର ଆଜ୍ଞା ଅନୁସାରେ ନ କରି ପୁତ୍ରସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜୀବିତ ରଖିଲେ। BSB BSB: The midwives, however, feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had instructed; they let the boys live.
18 ULB ତେଣୁ ମିସରର ରାଜା ଧାତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଡକାଇ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏପରି କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କାହିଁକି କରୁଅଛ? ପୁତ୍ରସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କୁ କାହିଁକି ଜୀବିତ ରଖୁଅଛ?” BSB BSB: So the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?”
19 ULB ତହିଁରେ ଧାତ୍ରୀମାନେ ଫାରୋଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଏବ୍ରୀୟା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଗଣ ମିସ୍ରୀୟା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଗଣ ପରି ନୁହଁନ୍ତି; ସେମାନେ ବଳବତୀ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଧାତ୍ରୀ ଆସିବା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରସବ କରନ୍ତି।” BSB BSB: The midwives answered Pharaoh, “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous and give birth before a midwife arrives.”
20 ULB ପୁଣି, ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସେହି ଧାତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କର ମଙ୍ଗଳ କଲେ, ତହିଁରେ ଲୋକମାନେ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇ ଅତିଶୟ ବଳବାନ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied and became even more numerous.
21 ULB ସେହି ଧାତ୍ରୀମାନେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଭୟ କରିବାରୁ ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବଂଶ ବୃଦ୍ଧି କଲେ। BSB BSB: And because the midwives feared God, He gave them families of their own.
22 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଫାରୋ ଆପଣା ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରଜାଙ୍କୁ ଏହି ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ନବଜାତ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ପୁତ୍ରସନ୍ତାନକୁ ନୀଳ ନଦୀରେ ନିକ୍ଷେପ କର, ମାତ୍ର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ କନ୍ୟାକୁ ଜୀବିତ ରଖ।” BSB BSB: Then Pharaoh commanded all his people: “Every son born to the Hebrews you must throw into the Nile, but every daughter you may allow to live.”
