2 ULB ଯାକୁବଙ୍କର ବୃତ୍ତାନ୍ତ ଏହି। ଯୋଷେଫ, ସତର ବର୍ଷ ବୟସ ସମୟରେ, ଆପଣା ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ପଶୁପଲ ଚରାଉଥିଲେ; ସେ ଆପଣା ପିତୃଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ବିଲ୍ହା ଓ ସିଳ୍ପାର ପୁତ୍ରମାନଙ୍କର ସଙ୍ଗୀ ବାଳକ ଥିଲା; ପୁଣି, ଯୋଷେଫ ସେହି ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କ କୁବ୍ୟବହାରର ବାର୍ତ୍ତା ପିତା ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣୁଥାଏ। BSB BSB: This is the account of Jacob. When Joseph was seventeen years old, he was tending the flock with his brothers, the sons of his father’s wives Bilhah and Zilpah, and he brought their father a bad report about them.
3 ULB ସେହି ଯୋଷେଫ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ବୃଦ୍ଧାବସ୍ଥାର ସନ୍ତାନ ହେବା ସକାଶୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସମସ୍ତ ପୁତ୍ରଠାରୁ ତାକୁ ଅଧିକ ସ୍ନେହ କଲେ, ଆଉ ତାକୁ ନାନାବର୍ଣ୍ଣର ଏକ ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରି ଦେଇଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Now Israel loved Joseph more than his other sons, because Joseph had been born to him in his old age; so he made him a robe of many colors.
4 ULB ମାତ୍ର ପିତା ସମସ୍ତ ପୁତ୍ର ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଯୋଷେଫକୁ ଅଧିକ ସ୍ନେହ କରିବାର ଦେଖି ତାହାର ଭାଇମାନେ ତାକୁ ଘୃଣା କଲେ ଓ ତାହା ପ୍ରତି ପ୍ରେମର କଥା କହି ପାରିଲେ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.
5 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋଷେଫ ଗୋଟିଏ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦେଖି ଆପଣା ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା; ଏଥିରେ ସେମାନେ ତାକୁ ଆହୁରି ଅଧିକ ଘୃଣା କଲେ। BSB BSB: Then Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more.
6 ULB କାରଣ ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ମୁଁ ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦେଖିଅଛି, ନିବେଦନ କରୁଅଛି, ତାହା ଶୁଣ।” BSB BSB: He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had:
7 ULB ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କ୍ଷେତରେ ବିଡ଼ା ବାନ୍ଧୁଥିଲୁ, ତହିଁରେ ଦେଖ, ମୋହର ବିଡ଼ା ଉଠି ଛିଡ଼ା ହେଲା; ପୁଣି, ଦେଖ, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବିଡ଼ାସବୁ ମୋ’ ବିଡ଼ାକୁ ଚାରିଆଡ଼େ ଘେରି ପ୍ରଣାମ କଲେ। BSB BSB: We were binding sheaves of grain in the field, and suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around and bowed down to mine.”
8 ULB ଏଥିରେ ତାହାର ଭାଇମାନେ ତାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁ କି ସତେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ରାଜା ହେବୁ? ତୁ କି ସତେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ କର୍ତ୍ତୃତ୍ୱ କରିବୁ?” ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ତାହାର ସବୁ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଓ କଥା ସକାଶୁ ତାକୁ ଆହୁରି ଅଧିକ ଘୃଣା କଲେ। BSB BSB: “Do you intend to reign over us?” his brothers asked. “Will you actually rule us?” So they hated him even more because of his dream and his statements.
9 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋଷେଫ ଆଉ ଗୋଟିଏ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦେଖି ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଇ କହିଲା, “ଦେଖ, ମୁଁ ଆଉ ଏକ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦେଖିଅଛି, ଦେଖ, ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଓ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ର ଓ ଏକାଦଶ ନକ୍ଷତ୍ର ମୋତେ ପ୍ରଣାମ କଲେ।” BSB BSB: Then Joseph had another dream and told it to his brothers. “Look,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”
10 ULB ମାତ୍ର ସେ ଆପଣା ପିତା ଓ ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ତାହା କହନ୍ତେ, ତାହାର ପିତା ତାହାକୁ ଧମକାଇ କହିଲେ, “ତୁ ଏ କି ପ୍ରକାର ସ୍ୱପ୍ୱ ଦେଖିଲୁ? ମୁଁ ଓ ତୋ’ ମାତା ଓ ତୋ’ ଭ୍ରାତୃଗଣ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କି ଭୂମିଷ୍ଠ ହୋଇ ତୋତେ ପ୍ରଣାମ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିବୁ?” BSB BSB: He told his father and brothers, but his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream that you have had? Will your mother and brothers and I actually come and bow down to the ground before you?”
11 ULB ତହିଁରେ ତାହାର ଭାଇମାନେ ତାକୁ ଈର୍ଷା କଲେ, ମାତ୍ର ତାହାର ପିତା ସେହି କଥା ମନେ ରଖିଲେ। BSB BSB: And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept in mind what he had said.
12 ULB ତଦନନ୍ତର ତାହାର ଭ୍ରାତୃଗଣ ପିତାଙ୍କର ପଶୁପଲ ଚରାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଶିଖିମକୁ ଗଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ BSB BSB: Some time later, Joseph’s brothers had gone to pasture their father’s flocks near Shechem.
13 ULB ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଯୋଷେଫକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭର ଭ୍ରାତୃଗଣ କି ଶିଖିମରେ ପଶୁପଲ ଚରାଉ ନାହାନ୍ତି?” ଆସ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇବି; ତହିଁରେ ସେ କହିଲା, “ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ମୁଁ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ଅଛି।” BSB BSB: Israel said to him, “Are not your brothers pasturing the flocks at Shechem? Get ready; I am sending you to them.” “I am ready,” Joseph replied.
14 ULB ସେତେବେଳେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯାଇ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଭ୍ରାତୃଗଣ ଓ ପଶୁପଲ ଭଲ ଅଛନ୍ତି କି ନାହିଁ, ତାହା ଦେଖି ମୋ’ ନିକଟକୁ ସମ୍ବାଦ ଆଣ।” ଏହିରୂପେ ସେ ହିବ୍ରୋଣର ତଳ ଭୂମିରୁ ଯୋଷେଫକୁ ପଠାନ୍ତେ, ସେ ଶିଖିମରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା। BSB BSB: Then Israel told him, “Go now and see how your brothers and the flocks are faring, and bring word back to me.” So he sent him off from the Valley of Hebron. And when Joseph arrived in Shechem,
15 ULB ସେତେବେଳେ ଜଣେ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଯୋଷେଫକୁ କ୍ଷେତରେ ଏଣେତେଣେ ଭ୍ରମଣ କରିବାର ଦେଖି ପଚାରିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ କଅଣ ଖୋଜୁଅଛ?” BSB BSB: a man found him wandering in the field and asked, “What are you looking for?”
16 ULB ସେ କହିଲା, “ମୋ’ ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କୁ ଖୋଜୁଅଛି, ସେମାନେ କେଉଁଠାରେ ପଶୁପଲ ଚରାଉଛନ୍ତି, ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ କରି ମୋତେ କୁହ।” BSB BSB: “I am looking for my brothers,” Joseph replied. “Can you please tell me where they are pasturing their flocks?”
17 ULB ସେ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ କହିଲା, “ସେମାନେ ଏଠାରୁ ଯାଇଛନ୍ତି; କାରଣ ମୁଁ ଶୁଣିଥିଲି, ସେମାନେ ଦୋଥନକୁ ଯିବେ ବୋଲି କହୁଥିଲେ।” ଏଣୁ ଯୋଷେଫ ଆପଣା ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କ ପଛେ ପଛେ ଯାଇ ଦୋଥନରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଦେଖା ପାଇଲା। BSB BSB: “They have moved on from here,” the man answered. “I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’” So Joseph set out after his brothers and found them at Dothan.
18 ULB ସେମାନେ ତାହାକୁ ଦୂରରୁ ଦେଖିଲେ, ପୁଣି, ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପହଞ୍ଚିବା ପୂର୍ବେ ସେମାନେ ତାକୁ ବଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ମନ୍ତ୍ରଣା କଲେ। BSB BSB: Now Joseph’s brothers saw him in the distance, and before he arrived, they plotted to kill him.
19 ULB ଆଉ, ସେମାନେ ଏକ ଆରେକକୁ କହିଲେ,” ଏହି ଦେଖ, ସ୍ୱପ୍ନଦର୍ଶକ ମହାଶୟ ଆସୁଅଛନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to one another.
20 ULB ଆସ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାକୁ ବଧ କରି କୌଣସି ଏକ ଗାତରେ ପକାଇ ଦେଉ; ପୁଣି, କୌଣସି ହିଂସ୍ରକ ଜନ୍ତୁ ତାକୁ ଖାଇପକାଇଲା ବୋଲି କହିବା; ଆଚ୍ଛା ଦେଖିବା, ତାହାର ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ସବୁର କଅଣ ହେବ।” BSB BSB: “Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a vicious animal has devoured him. Then we shall see what becomes of his dreams!”
21 ULB ଏ କଥା ଶୁଣି ରୁବେନ୍ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରୁ ତାକୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରି କହିଲା, “ନା, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାକୁ ପ୍ରାଣରେ ମାରି ପକାଇବା ନାହିଁ।” BSB BSB: When Reuben heard this, he tried to rescue Joseph from their hands. “Let us not take his life,” he said.
22 ULB ଆଉ ରୁବେନ୍ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରୁ ତାକୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରି ପିତା ନିକଟକୁ ଫେରି ପଠାଇବା ମାନସରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ରକ୍ତପାତ କର ନାହିଁ,” ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରର ଏହି ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତାକୁ ପକାଇ ଦିଅ, ମାତ୍ର ତାହା ପ୍ରତି ହାତ ଉଠାଅ ନାହିଁ।” BSB BSB: “Do not shed his blood. Throw him into this pit in the wilderness, but do not lay a hand on him.” Reuben said this so that he could rescue Joseph from their hands and return him to his father.
23 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋଷେଫ ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସନ୍ତେ, ସେମାନେ ତାହାର ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା, ସେହି ନାନା ବର୍ଣ୍ଣର ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା, ତାହା ଦେହରୁ କାଢ଼ିନେଇ; BSB BSB: So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe—the robe of many colors he was wearing—
24 ULB ତାକୁ ଧରି ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପକାଇ ଦେଲେ, ସେହି ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ଶୂନ୍ୟ, ତହିଁରେ ଜଳ ନ ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: and they took him and threw him into the pit. Now the pit was empty, with no water in it.
25 ULB ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ଭୋଜନ କରିବାକୁ ବସିଲେ; ସେମାନେ ଅନାଇ ଦେଖିଲେ, ଯେ ଗିଲୀୟଦରୁ ଏକ ଦଳ ଇଶ୍ମାୟେଲୀୟ ପଥିକ ଓଟ ଉପରେ ସୁଗନ୍ଧି ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ଓ ଗୁଗ୍ଗୁଳ ଓ ଗନ୍ଧରସ ଘେନି ମିସର ଦେଶକୁ ଯାଉଅଛନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: And as they sat down to eat a meal, they looked up and saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were carrying spices, balm, and myrrh on their way down to Egypt.
26 ULB ସେତେବେଳେ ଯିହୁଦା ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଭାଇକୁ ବଧ କରି ତାହାର ରକ୍ତ ଗୋପନ କଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଲାଭ କଅଣ? BSB BSB: Then Judah said to his brothers, “What profit will we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?
27 ULB ଆସ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାକୁ ଏହି ଇଶ୍ମାୟେଲୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବିକ୍ରୟ କରିଦେଉ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତ ତାହା ପ୍ରତିକୂଳରେ ନ ଉଠୁ; କାରଣ ସେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଭ୍ରାତା ଓ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ମାଂସ ସ୍ୱରୂପ।” ତହିଁରେ ତାହାର ଭାଇମାନେ ସମ୍ମତ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay a hand on him; for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And they agreed.
28 ULB ସେତେବେଳେ ସେହି ମିଦୀୟନୀୟ ବଣିକମାନେ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସନ୍ତେ, ସେମାନେ ଯୋଷେଫକୁ ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଉପରକୁ ଟାଣି ଆଣିଲେ; ପୁଣି, ଇଶ୍ମାୟେଲୀୟମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ କୋଡ଼ିଏ ଶେକେଲ ରୌପ୍ୟ ମୁଦ୍ରା ନେଇ ଯୋଷେଫକୁ ବିକ୍ରୟ କରିଦେଲେ; ତହିଁରେ ସେମାନେ ଯୋଷେଫକୁ ମିସର ଦେଶକୁ ନେଇଗଲେ। BSB BSB: So when the Midianite traders passed by, his brothers pulled Joseph out of the pit and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.
29 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ରୁବେନ୍ ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ନିକଟକୁ ଫେରିଯାଇ ଯୋଷେଫ ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ଭିତରେ ନାହିଁ, ଏହା ଦେଖି ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରିଲା। BSB BSB: When Reuben returned to the pit and saw that Joseph was not there, he tore his clothes,

31 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେମାନେ ଯୋଷେଫର ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା ଘେନି ଗୋଟିଏ ଛାଗ ମାରି ତାହାର ରକ୍ତରେ ତାହା ଡୁବାଇଲେ। BSB BSB: Then they took Joseph’s robe, slaughtered a young goat, and dipped the robe in its blood.
32 ULB ଆଉ, ସେମାନେ ଆପଣା ପିତା ନିକଟକୁ ସେହି ନାନାବର୍ଣ୍ଣର ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା ପଠାଇ ଦେଇ କହିଲେ, “ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏତିକି ମାତ୍ର ପାଇଲୁ, ଏହା ତୁମ୍ଭ ପୁତ୍ରର ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା କି ନାହିଁ, ଚିହ୍ନ।” BSB BSB: They sent the robe of many colors to their father and said, “We found this. Examine it to see whether it is your son’s robe or not.”
33 ULB ତହିଁରେ ସେ ତାହା ଚିହ୍ନି କହିଲେ, “ଏହି ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା ତ ମୋ’ ପୁତ୍ରର; କୌଣସି ହିଂସ୍ରକ ଜନ୍ତୁ ତାହାକୁ ଖାଇ ପକାଇଅଛି, ଯୋଷେଫ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ଖଣ୍ଡ ଖଣ୍ଡ ହୋଇ ବିଦୀର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହୋଇଅଛି।” BSB BSB: His father recognized it and said, “It is my son’s robe! A vicious animal has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces!”
34 ULB ତହୁଁ ଯାକୁବ ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରି କଟିଦେଶରେ ଅଖା ପିନ୍ଧି ପୁତ୍ର ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅନେକ ଦିନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଶୋକ କଲେ। BSB BSB: Then Jacob tore his clothes, put sackcloth around his waist, and mourned for his son many days.
35 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ତାଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ପୁତ୍ର ଓ ସମସ୍ତ କନ୍ୟା ଉଠି ତାଙ୍କୁ ସାନ୍ତ୍ୱନା କରିବାକୁ ଯତ୍ନ କଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ସେ ମାନିଲେ ନାହିଁ; ପୁଣି, ସେ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ଶୋକ କରୁ କରୁ ପୁତ୍ର ନିକଟକୁ କବରକୁ ଅଧୋଗମନ କରିବି। ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ତାହାର ପିତା ତାହା ନିମନ୍ତେ ରୋଦନ କଲେ। BSB BSB: All his sons and daughters tried to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. “No,” he said. “I will go down to Sheol mourning for my son.” So his father wept for him.
36 ULB ଏଥିମଧ୍ୟରେ ସେହି ମିଦୀୟନୀୟମାନେ ମିସର ଦେଶରେ ପୋଟୀଫର ନାମକ ଫାରୋର ଭୃତ୍ୟ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍, ରକ୍ଷକ ସେନାପତିକୁ ଯୋଷେଫକୁ ବିକ୍ରୟ କଲେ। BSB BSB: Meanwhile, the Midianites sold Joseph in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard.
