1 ULB ବେଥନୀୟା ନିବାସୀ ଲାଜାର ନାମକ ଜଣେ ଲୋକ ପୀଡ଼ିତ ଥିଲେ; ମରିୟମ ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ଭଉଣୀ ମାର୍ଥା ସେହି ଗ୍ରାମର ଲୋକ। BSB BSB: At this time a man named Lazarus was sick. He lived in Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 ULB ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଲୋକ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ତୈଳରେ ଅଭିଷେକ କରି ଆପଣା କେଶରେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପାଦ ପୋଛିଦେଲେ, ଏ ସେହି ମରିୟମ; ତାଙ୍କର ଭାଇ ଲାଜାର ପୀଡ଼ିତ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: (Mary, whose brother Lazarus was sick, was to anoint the Lord with perfume and wipe His feet with her hair.)
3 ULB ତେଣୁ ସେହି ଭଉଣୀମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ କହି ପଠାଇଲେ, ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ଯାହାକୁ ଆପଣ ସ୍ନେହ କରନ୍ତି, ସେ ପୀଡ଼ିତ ଅଛି। BSB BSB: So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one You love is sick.”
4 ULB କିନ୍ତୁ ଯୀଶୁ ତାହା ଶୁଣି କହିଲେ, ଏହି ପୀଡ଼ା ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ନିମନ୍ତେ ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଗୌରବ ନିମନ୍ତେ, ଯେପରି ତଦ୍ଵାରା ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ଗୌରବପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହୁଅନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: When Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
5 ULB ଯୀଶୁ ମାର୍ଥା, ତାଙ୍କ ଭଉଣୀ ଓ ଲାଜାରଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ନେହ କରୁଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
6 ULB ଅତଏବ, ସେ ପୀଡ଼ିତ ଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ଯେତେବେଳେ ସେ ଶୁଣିଲେ, ସେତେବେଳେ ସେ ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଥିଲେ, ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଦୁଇ ଦିନ ରହିଗଲେ। BSB BSB: So on hearing that Lazarus was sick, He stayed where He was for two days,
7 ULB ତତ୍ପରେ ସେ ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଚାଲ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପୁନର୍ବାର ଯିହୂଦା ପ୍ରଦେଶକୁ ଯିବା। BSB BSB: and then He said to the disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”
8 ULB ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ହେ ଗୁରୁ, ଯିହୂଦୀମାନେ ଏବେ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ପଥର ଫୋପାଡ଼ିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରୁଥିଲେ, ପୁଣି, ଆପଣ ଆଉ ଥରେ ସେଠାକୁ ଯାଉଅଛନ୍ତି? BSB BSB: “Rabbi,” they replied, “the Jews just tried to stone You, and You are going back there?”
9 ULB ଯୀଶୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ଦିନରେ କ'ଣ ବାର ଘଣ୍ଟା ନାହିଁ? କେହି ଦିନରେ ଚାଲିଲେ ଝୁଣ୍ଟେ ନାହିଁ, କାରଣ ସେ ଏହି ଜଗତର ଜ୍ୟୋତିଃ ଦେଖେ; BSB BSB: Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? If anyone walks in the daytime, he will not stumble, because he sees by the light of this world.
10 ULB କିନ୍ତୁ ରାତିରେ ଚାଲିଲେ ସେ ଝୁଣ୍ଟେ, କାରଣ ତାହା ଅନ୍ତରରେ ଜ୍ୟୋତିଃ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: But if anyone walks at night, he will stumble, because he has no light.”
11 ULB ସେ ଏସମସ୍ତ କଥା କହିଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆହୁରି କହିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବନ୍ଧୁ ଲାଜାର ନିଦ୍ରା ଯାଇଅଛନ୍ତି, କିନ୍ତୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ନିଦ୍ରାରୁ ଉଠାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ଯାଉଅଛି। BSB BSB: After He had said this, He told them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to wake him up.”
12 ULB ସେଥିରେ ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଯଦି ସେ ନିଦ୍ରା ଯାଇଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହାହେଲେ ସେ ସୁସ୍ଥ ହେବେ। BSB BSB: His disciples replied, “Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get better.”
13 ULB ଯୀଶୁ ତାଙ୍କର ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ବିଷୟରେ କହିଲେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ସେ ନିଦ୍ରାରେ ଶୋଇପଡ଼ିବା ବିଷୟରେ କହିଲେ ବୋଲି ସେମାନେ ମନେ କଲେ। BSB BSB: They thought that Jesus was talking about actual sleep, but He was speaking about the death of Lazarus.
14 ULB ଅତଏବ, ଯୀଶୁ ସେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟରୂପେ କହିଲେ, ଲାଜାର ମରିଯାଇଛନ୍ତି; BSB BSB: So Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead,
15 ULB ଆଉ, ମୁଁ ଯେ ସେ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ନ ଥିଲି, ଏଥିସକାଶେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆନନ୍ଦ କରୁଅଛି, ଯେପରି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରିବ; କିନ୍ତୁ ଚାଲ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଯିବା। BSB BSB: and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”
16 ULB ସେଥିରେ ଥୋମା, ଯାହାଙ୍କୁ ଦିଦୁମ ବୋଲି କହନ୍ତି, ସେ ଆପଣା ସଙ୍ଗୀ ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଚାଲ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଯାଇ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ମରିବା। BSB BSB: Then Thomas called Didymus said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, so that we may die with Him.”
17 ULB ଯୀଶୁ ପହଞ୍ଚି ଶୁଣିଲେ ଯେ, ସେ ଚାରି ଦିନ ହେଲା ସମାଧିରେ ରଖାଗଲେଣି। BSB BSB: When Jesus arrived, He found that Lazarus had already spent four days in the tomb.
18 ULB ବେଥନୀୟା ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ନିକଟରେ ଥିଲା, ପ୍ରାୟ ଏକ କ୍ରୋଶ ଦୂର; BSB BSB: Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, a little less than two miles away,
19 ULB ଆଉ, ଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଅନେକେ ମାର୍ଥା ଓ ମରିୟମଙ୍କୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଭାଇ ବିଷୟରେ ସାନ୍ତ୍ୱନା ଦେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them in the loss of their brother.
20 ULB ସେଥିରେ ଯୀଶୁ ଆସିଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ଯେତେବେଳେ ମାର୍ଥା ଶୁଣିଲେ, ସେତେବେଳେ ସେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଭେଟିବାକୁ ଗଲେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ମରିୟମ ଗୃହରେ ବସି ରହିଲେ। BSB BSB: So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet Him, but Mary stayed at home.
21 ULB ମାର୍ଥା ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଯଦି ଆପଣ ଏଠାରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୋଇଥାଆନ୍ତେ, ତାହାହେଲେ ମୋହର ଭାଇ ମରି ନ ଥା'ନ୍ତା। BSB BSB: Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
22 ULB କିନ୍ତୁ ଆପଣ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଯାହା କିଛି ମାଗିବେ, ଈଶ୍ୱର ଯେ ତାହା ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ଦେବେ, ଏହା ଏବେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ। BSB BSB: But even now I know that God will give You whatever You ask of Him.”
23 ULB ଯୀଶୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭ ଭାଇ ପୁଣି, ଉଠିବ। BSB BSB: “Your brother will rise again,” Jesus told her.
24 ULB ମାର୍ଥା ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ସେ ଯେ ଶେଷ ଦିନରେ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ସମୟରେ ଉଠିବ, ଏହା ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ। BSB BSB: Martha replied, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
25 ULB ଯୀଶୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ଓ ଜୀବନ; ଯେ ମୋ'ଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରେ, ସେ ଯଦ୍ୟପି ମରେ, ତଥାପି ସେ ବଞ୍ଚିବ, BSB BSB: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies.
26 ULB ପୁଣି, ଯେ କେହି ବଞ୍ଚେ ଓ ମୋ'ଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରେ, ସେ କଦାପି ମରିବ ନାହିଁ; ଏହା କ'ଣ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରୁଅଛ? BSB BSB: And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
27 ULB ସେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ହଁ, ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଯାହାଙ୍କର ଜଗତକୁ ଆଗମନ କରିବାର ଥିଲା, ଆପଣ ଯେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ସେହି ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ, ଏହା ମୋହର ବିଶ୍ୱାସ। BSB BSB: “Yes, Lord,” she answered, “I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”

29 ULB ସେ ଏହା ଶୁଣି ଶୀଘ୍ର ଉଠି ତାହାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଗଲେ। BSB BSB: And when Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to Him.
30 ULB ଯୀଶୁ ସେତେବେଳେ ଗ୍ରାମ ଭିତରକୁ ଆସି ନ ଥିଲେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ମାର୍ଥା ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଭେଟିଥିଲେ, ସେପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met Him.
31 ULB ଅତଏବ, ଯେଉଁ ଯିହୂଦୀମାନେ ତାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଗୃହରେ ଥାଇ ତାଙ୍କୁ ସାନ୍ତ୍ୱନା ଦେଉଥିଲେ, ସେମାନେ ମରିୟମଙ୍କୁ ଶୀଘ୍ର ଉଠି ବାହାରିଯିବା ଦେଖି, ସେ ସମାଧି ନିକଟରେ ରୋଦନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଯାଉଅଛନ୍ତି, ଏହା ମନେ କରି ତାଙ୍କ ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗଲେ। BSB BSB: When the Jews who were in the house consoling Mary saw how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there.
32 ULB ସେଥିରେ ଯୀଶୁ ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଥିଲେ, ମରିୟମ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୋଇ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖି ତାହାଙ୍କର ଚରଣ ତଳେ ପଡ଼ି କହିଲେ, ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଯଦି ଆପଣ ଏଠାରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୋଇଥାଆନ୍ତେ, ତାହାହେଲେ ମୋ' ଭାଇ ମରି ନ ଥା'ନ୍ତା। BSB BSB: When Mary came to Jesus and saw Him, she fell at His feet and said, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”
34 ULB ତାଙ୍କୁ କେଉଁଠାରେ ରଖିଅଛ? ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଆସି ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ। BSB BSB: “Where have you put him?” He asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they answered.
36 ULB ସେଥିରେ ଯିହୂଦୀମାନେ କହିଲେ, ଦେଖ, ସେ ତାଙ୍କୁ କିପରି ସ୍ନେହ କରୁଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!”
37 ULB କିନ୍ତୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କେହି କେହି କହିଲେ, ଏହି ଯେଉଁ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ସେହି ଅନ୍ଧର ଆଖି ଫିଟାଇଥିଲେ, ସେ କ'ଣ ଏହାର ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ନିବାରଣ କରି ପାରି ନ ଥାଆନ୍ତେ? BSB BSB: But some of them asked, “Could not this man who opened the eyes of the blind also have kept Lazarus from dying?”
38 ULB ସେଥିରେ ଯୀଶୁ ପୁନର୍ବାର ଅନ୍ତରରେ ବିରକ୍ତ ହୋଇ ସମାଧି ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଲେ; ତାହା ଗୋଟିଏ ଗୁହା, ପୁଣି, ତା' ମୁହଁରେ ଗୋଟାଏ ପଥର ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: Jesus, once again deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance.
39 ULB ଯୀଶୁ କହିଲେ, ଏହି ପଥର ଘୁଞ୍ଚାଇଦିଅ। ମୃତ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଭଗ୍ନୀ ମାର୍ଥା ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ପ୍ରଭୁ, ସେ ବାସିଗଲାଣି, କାରଣ ସେ ଚାରି ଦିନ ହେଲା ମଲାଣି। BSB BSB: “Take away the stone,” Jesus said. “Lord, by now he stinks,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man. “It has already been four days.”
40 ULB ଯୀଶୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କର, ତାହାହେଲେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ମହିମା ଦେଖିବ, ଏହା କ'ଣ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ କହିଲି ନାହିଁ? ସେଥିରେ ସେମାନେ ପଥର ଘୁଞ୍ଚାଇଦେଲେ। BSB BSB: Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”
41 ULB ଆଉ, ଯୀଶୁ ଊର୍ଦ୍ଧ୍ୱଦୃଷ୍ଟି କରି କହିଲେ, ପିତଃ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋହର ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା ଶୁଣିଲ ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ ଦେଉଅଛି। BSB BSB: So they took away the stone. Then Jesus lifted His eyes upward and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
42 ULB ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେ ସର୍ବଦା ମୋହର ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା ଶୁଣିଥାଅ, ଏହା ମୁଁ ଜାଣିଥିଲି; କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକସମୂହ ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦିଗରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଅଛନ୍ତି, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋତେ ପ୍ରେରଣ କରିଅଛ ବୋଲି ସେମାନେ ଯେପରି ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରିବେ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ହେତୁ ମୁଁ ଏହା କହିଲି। BSB BSB: I knew that You always hear Me, but I say this for the benefit of the people standing here, so they may believe that You sent Me.”
43 ULB ସେ ଏହା କହି ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ ଡାକିଲେ, ଲାଜାର, ବାହାରି ଆସ। BSB BSB: After Jesus had said this, He called out in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
44 ULB ମୃତ ଲୋକଟି ବାହାରି ଆସିଲେ; ତାଙ୍କ ହାତ ଓ ପାଦ ସମାଧିବସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ବନ୍ଧା ହୋଇଥିଲା, ପୁଣି, ତାଙ୍କ ମୁଖରେ ଖଣ୍ଡେ ଗାମୁଛା ଗୁଡ଼ା ହୋଇଥିଲା। ଯୀଶୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଏହାଙ୍କ ବନ୍ଧନ ଫିଟାଇ ଚାଲିଯିବାକୁ ଦିଅ। BSB BSB: The man who had been dead came out with his hands and feet bound in strips of linen, and his face wrapped in a cloth. “Unwrap him and let him go,” Jesus told them.
45 ULB ଅତଏବ, ଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଅନେକେ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ମରିୟମଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ ଓ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ କର୍ମ ଦେଖିଥିଲେ, ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ; BSB BSB: Therefore many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in Him.
46 ULB ପୁଣି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେହି କେହି ଫାରୂଶୀମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଯାଇ, ଯୀଶୁ ଯାହା ଯାହା କରିଥିଲେ, ସେହି ସବୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଇଲେ। BSB BSB: But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.
47 ULB ସେଥିରେ ପ୍ରଧାନ ଯାଜକ ଓ ଫାରୂଶୀମାନେ ମହାସଭା ଆହ୍ୱାନ କରି କହିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କ'ଣ କରୁଅଛୁ? ଏ ଲୋକ ତ ଅନେକ ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟକର୍ମ କରୁଅଛି। BSB BSB: Then the chief priests and Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and said, “What are we to do? This man is performing many signs.
48 ULB ଯଦି ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାକୁ ଏପରି ଛାଡ଼ିଦେବା, ତାହାହେଲେ ସମସ୍ତେ ତାହାଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରିବେ, ଆଉ ରୋମୀୟମାନେ ଆସି ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଏହି ସ୍ଥାନ ଓ ଜାତି ଉଭୟଙ୍କୁ ନଷ୍ଟ କରିଦେବେ। BSB BSB: If we let Him go on like this, everyone will believe in Him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
49 ULB କିନ୍ତୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣେ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍, କୟାଫା ନାମକ ସେହି ବର୍ଷର ମହାଯାଜକ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କିଛି ଜାଣ ନାହିଁ; BSB BSB: But one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all!
50 ULB ସମୁଦାୟ ଜାତି ବିନଷ୍ଟ ନ ହୋଇ ଲୋକସାଧାରଣଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଜଣେ ଯେ ମରିବା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ମଙ୍ଗଳଜନକ, ଏହା ମଧ୍ୟ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବିଚାର କରୁ ନାହଁ। BSB BSB: You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”
