But when David’s servants arrived in the land of the Ammonites to console him,
3 ULB ਤਦ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਾਨੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, "ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੋਕ ਭੇਜੇ ਹਨ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਏ ਕਿ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਨ, ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਲੈਣ? BSB BSB: the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really believe he is showing respect for your father? Have not his servants come to you to explore the land, spy it out, and overthrow it?”
4 ULB ਗੱਲ ਕਾਹਦੀ, ਹਾਨੂਨ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਾੜੀਆਂ ਮੁਨਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕਾਂ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧੜੋਂ ਨੰਗਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ। BSB BSB: So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved their beards, cut off their garments at the hips, and sent them away.

9 ULB ਤਾਂ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਕੇ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲੜਾਈ ਦਾ ਪਿੜ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਏ ਸਨ, ਅਲੱਗ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ। BSB BSB: The Ammonites marched out and arrayed themselves for battle at the entrance to the city, while the kings who had come stayed by themselves in the open country.
10 ULB ਜਦੋਂ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਲੜਾਈ ਦਾ ਪਿੜ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਖੜਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। BSB BSB: When Joab saw the battle lines before him and behind him, he selected some of the best men of Israel and arrayed them against the Arameans.

12 ULB ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੇ ਅਰਾਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਉਣ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਲ ਪਾਉਣ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ BSB BSB: “If the Arameans are too strong for me,” said Joab, “then you will come to my rescue. And if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will come to your rescue.

15 ULB ਜਦੋਂ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਰਾਮੀ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਬਸ਼ਈ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਵੜੇ, ਤਾਂ ਯੋਆਬ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਆਇਆ। BSB BSB: When the Ammonites saw that the Arameans had fled, they too fled before Joab’s brother Abishai, and they entered the city. So Joab went back to Jerusalem.
16 ULB ਜਦੋਂ ਅਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਅਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਲਿਆਏ, ਅਤੇ ਹਦਰਅਜ਼ਰ ਦਾ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਸ਼ੋਫਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਸੀ BSB BSB: When the Arameans saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers to bring more Arameans from beyond the Euphrates, with Shophach the commander of Hadadezer’s army leading them.

When David lined up to engage them in battle, they fought against him.

He also killed Shophach the commander of their army.
19 ULB ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਹਦਰਅਜ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਨੌਕਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਬਣ ਗਏ। ਅਖ਼ੀਰ, ਅਰਾਮੀ ਨੇ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਫੇਰ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ। BSB BSB: When Hadadezer’s subjects saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Arameans were unwilling to help the Ammonites anymore.
