They were registered by genealogy in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their positions of trust.

31 ULB ਅਤੇ ਮਤਿਥਯਾਹ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਾਰਹੀ ਸ਼ੱਲੁਮ ਦਾ ਜੇਠਾ ਸੀ ਤਵਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰੋਟੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜੁੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਸੀ BSB BSB: A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with baking the bread.
32 ULB ਅਤੇ ਕਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਈ ਚੜਾਵੇ ਦੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਸਬਤ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ। BSB BSB: Some of their Kohathite relatives were responsible for preparing the rows of the showbread every Sabbath.
