Won’t you tell me?” Amnon replied, “I am in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”

7 ULB ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਭੋਜਨ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ। BSB BSB: Then David sent word to Tamar at the palace: “Please go to the house of Amnon your brother and prepare a meal for him.”

9 ULB ਉਸ ਨੇ ਥਾਲੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਖਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਮਨ੍ਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ। BSB BSB: Then she brought the pan and set it down before him, but he refused to eat. “Send everyone away!” said Amnon. And everyone went out.
10 ULB ਤਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕੋਠੜੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਲੈ ਆ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਖਾਵਾਂ। ਸੋ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤਲੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਲਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆਈ। BSB BSB: Then Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food into the bedroom, so that I may eat it from your hand.” Tamar took the cakes she had made and went to her brother Amnon’s bedroom.

13 ULB ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਲੰਕ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਲਾਹਵਾਂਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ! ਤੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ। ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਂਹ ਨਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ। BSB BSB: Where could I ever take my shame? And you would be like one of the fools in Israel! Please speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you.”
14 ULB ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਮੰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਤਕੜਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗ ਕੀਤਾ। BSB BSB: But Amnon refused to listen to her, and being stronger, he violated her and lay with her.
15 ULB ਫਿਰ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਡਾਢਾ ਵੈਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵੈਰ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉੱਠ, ਚੱਲੀ ਜਾਹ! BSB BSB: Then Amnon hated Tamar with such intensity that his hatred was greater than the love he previously had. “Get up!” he said to her. “Be gone!”
16 ULB ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਣ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ! ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੀ। BSB BSB: “No,” she replied, “sending me away is worse than this great wrong you have already done to me!” But he refused to listen to her.
17 ULB ਤਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੁਆਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਸੱਦ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਹੁਣੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦੇ! BSB BSB: Instead, he called to his attendant and said, “Throw this woman out and bolt the door behind her!”
18 ULB ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰੰਗ-ਬਰੰਗੀ ਕੁੜਤੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਆਰੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਬਸਤਰ ਪਹਿਨਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਸੋ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। BSB BSB: So Amnon’s attendant threw her out and bolted the door behind her. Now Tamar was wearing a robe of many colors, because this is what the king’s virgin daughters wore.
19 ULB ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਪਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਰੰਗ-ਬਿਰੰਗੀ ਕੁੜਤੀ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਨੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਪਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਚੀਕਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਤੁਰੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: And Tamar put ashes on her head and tore her robe. And putting her hand on her head, she went away crying aloud.
20 ULB ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਕੀਤਾ? ਪਰ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੈਣ, ਹੁਣ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹਿ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਲਈ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਤਦ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੀ ਰਹੀ। BSB BSB: Her brother Absalom said to her, “Has your brother Amnon been with you? Be quiet for now, my sister. He is your brother. Do not take this thing to heart.” So Tamar lived as a desolate woman in the house of her brother Absalom.
21 ULB ਜਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਭੜਕ ਪਿਆ। BSB BSB: When King David heard all this, he was furious.
22 ULB ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਚੰਗਾ-ਮੰਦਾ ਨਾ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ BSB BSB: And Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad, because he hated Amnon for violating his sister Tamar.
23 ULB ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਪੂਰੇ ਦੋ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਆਲ-ਹਸੋਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਉੱਨ ਕਤਰਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ। BSB BSB: Two years later, when Absalom’s sheepshearers were at Baal-hazor near Ephraim, he invited all the sons of the king.
24 ULB ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਰਾਜੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਉੱਨ ਕਤਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹਨ ਸੋ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਣ। BSB BSB: And he went to the king and said, “Your servant has just hired shearers. Will the king and his servants please come with me?”
25 ULB ਤਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਨਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਂਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ। BSB BSB: “No, my son,” the king replied, “we should not all go, or we would be a burden to you.” Although Absalom urged him, he was not willing to go, but gave him his blessing.
26 ULB ਤਦ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੇਜ ਦਿਓ। ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਵੇ? BSB BSB: “If not,” said Absalom, “please let my brother Amnon go with us.” “Why should he go with you?” the king asked.

28 ULB ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹੋ। ਜਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਪੀ ਕੇ ਮਤਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਓ! ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਣਾ। ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਾ ਡਰਿਓ! ਭਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ? ਸੋ ਤਕੜੇ ਹੋਵੋ, ਹੱਥ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰੋ! BSB BSB: Now Absalom had ordered his young men, “Watch Amnon until his heart is merry with wine, and when I order you to strike Amnon down, you are to kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant!”
29 ULB ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉੱਠੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਖ਼ੱਚਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ। BSB BSB: So Absalom’s young men did to Amnon just as Absalom had ordered. Then all the other sons of the king got up, and each one fled on his mule.
30 ULB ਤਦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਅਜੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੋਈ ਕਿ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜ-ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਬਚਿਆ! BSB BSB: While they were on the way, a report reached David: “Absalom has struck down all the sons of the king; not one of them is left!”
31 ULB ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਉੱਠਿਆ, ਆਪਣੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਵੀ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ। BSB BSB: Then the king stood up, tore his clothes, and lay down on the ground. And all his servants stood by with their clothes torn.
32 ULB ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਸ਼ਿਮਆਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਨਾਦਾਬ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਇਹ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਸਗੋਂ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਹੀ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮਿੱਥ ਲਈ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: But Jonadab, the son of David’s brother Shimeah, spoke up: “My lord must not think they have killed all the sons of the king, for only Amnon is dead. 33 ULB ਸੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਸਮਝੇ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜ-ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਹੀ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: So now, my lord the king, do not take to heart the report that all the sons of the king are dead. Only Amnon is dead.”
34 ULB ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੱਠ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਜੁਆਨ ਰਾਖੇ ਨੇ ਜਦ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਉਤਾਹਾਂ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਵੇਖੇ ਜੋ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੀੜ ਪਹਾੜ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: Meanwhile, Absalom had fled. When the young man standing watch looked up, he saw many people coming down the road west of him, along the side of the hill. And the watchman went and reported to the king, “I see men coming from the direction of Horonaim, along the side of the hill.”
35 ULB ਤਦ ਯੋਨਾਦਾਬ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ ਰਾਜ-ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਇਆ। BSB BSB: So Jonadab said to the king, “Look, the sons of the king have arrived! It is just as your servant said.”
36 ULB ਜਦ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਆਖ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜ-ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਕਾਂ ਮਾਰ-ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਰੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਭੁੱਬਾਂ ਮਾਰ-ਮਾਰ ਰੋਇਆ। BSB BSB: And as he finished speaking, the sons of the king came in, wailing loudly. Then the king and all his servants also wept very bitterly.
37 ULB ਪਰ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੱਠ ਕੇ ਗਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਮੀਹੂਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਤਲਮੀ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਲਈ ਸੋਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: Now Absalom fled and went to Talmai son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. But David mourned for his son every day.
38 ULB ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੱਠ ਕੇ ਗਸ਼ੂਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲ ਉੱਥੇ ਰਿਹਾ। BSB BSB: After Absalom had fled and gone to Geshur, he stayed there three years.
39 ULB ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਤਰਸਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਦੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: And King David longed to go to Absalom, for he had been consoled over Amnon’s death.
