2 ULB ਤੋਬਾ ਕਰੋ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸਵਰਗ ਰਾਜ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
3 ULB ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਯਸਾਯਾਹ ਨਬੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਕਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼, ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਕਰੋ। BSB BSB: This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’”
4 ULB ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਬਸਤਰ ਊਠ ਦੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਨ, ਚਮੜੇ ਦੀ ਪੇਟੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਟਿੱਡੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਸੀ l BSB BSB: John wore a garment of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
5 ULB ਤਦ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ। BSB BSB: People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region around the Jordan.
6 ULB ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਸਨ। BSB BSB: Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
7 ULB ਪਰ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜੋ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੂਕੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਲੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, "ਹੇ ਸੱਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਓ! ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਭੱਜਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਸ ਨੇ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ?" BSB BSB: But when John saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his place of baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8 ULB ਸੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤੋਬਾ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਫਲ ਲਿਆਓ। BSB BSB: Produce fruit, then, in keeping with repentance.
9 ULB ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਸੋਚੋ ਕਿ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਸਾਡਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਵੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
10 ULB ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਕੁਹਾੜਾ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਰੁੱਖ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਫਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਵੱਢਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: The axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
11 ULB ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਫ਼ਿਰਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਜੁੱਤੀ ਦਾ ਤਸਮਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਣ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। BSB BSB: I baptize you with water for repentance, but after me will come One more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
12 ULB ਉਹ ਦੀ ਤੰਗੁਲੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੜ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਣਕ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਦਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਮਾਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਤੂੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾੜੇਗਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਕਦੇ ਬੁਝਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ। BSB BSB: His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
13 ULB ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਗਲੀਲ ਤੋਂ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ, ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਕੋਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਲੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ। BSB BSB: At that time Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.
14 ULB ਪਰ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਿਆ, ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ? BSB BSB: But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?”
15 ULB ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਹੁਣ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਾਰਮਿਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰੀਏ। ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ। BSB BSB: “Let it be so now,” Jesus replied. “It is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness in this way.” Then John permitted Him.
17 ULB ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ ਇਹ ਸਵਰਗੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹਾਂ। BSB BSB: And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!”
