2 ULB ਤਦ ਸਨਬੱਲਟ ਅਤੇ ਗਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਭੇਜਿਆ, "ਆ, ਅਸੀਂ ਓਨੋ ਦੀ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀਏ।" ਪਰ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਾਨੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ। BSB BSB: Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” But they were planning to harm me.
3 ULB ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼-ਵਾਹਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, "ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਿਉਂ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ?" BSB BSB: So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work and cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it to go down to you?”
4 ULB ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਚਾਰ ਵਾਰੀ ਇਹੋ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਵਾਰੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। BSB BSB: Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave the same reply.
5 ULB ਫਿਰ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਨਬੱਲਟ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ, BSB BSB: The fifth time, Sanballat sent me this same message by his young servant, who had in his hand an unsealed letter
6 ULB ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, "ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਗਸ਼ਮੂ ਵੀ ਇਹੋ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਵਿਦਰੋਹੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਪਨਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: that read: “It is reported among the nations—and Geshem agrees—that you and the Jews are plotting to revolt, and this is why you are building the wall. According to these reports, you are to become their king,
7 ULB ਤੂੰ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਕਿ 'ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ।' ਹੁਣ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਆ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰੀਏ।" BSB BSB: and you have even appointed prophets in Jerusalem to proclaim on your behalf: ‘There is a king in Judah.’ Soon these rumors will reach the ears of the king. So come, let us confer together.”
8 ULB ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਉੱਤਰ ਭੇਜਿਆ, "ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਨ-ਘੜਤ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹਨ!" BSB BSB: Then I sent him this reply: “There is nothing to these rumors you are spreading; you are inventing them in your own mind.”
9 ULB ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਸੋਚ ਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਕੰਮ ਤੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਢਿੱਲੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਹੁਣ ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ! ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਕੜੇ ਕਰ! BSB BSB: For they were all trying to frighten us, saying, “Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will never be finished.” But now, my God, strengthen my hands.
10 ULB ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਮੁਹੇਯਟਬੇਲ ਦੇ ਪੋਤਰੇ ਦਲਾਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਮਆਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਆ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਿਲੀਏ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਲਈਏ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਉਣਗੇ, ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਉਣਗੇ।" BSB BSB: Later, I went to the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was confined to his house. He said: “Let us meet at the house of God inside the temple. Let us shut the temple doors because they are coming to kill you—by night they are coming to kill you!”
11 ULB ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੱਜੇ? ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾਵੇ? ਮੈਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗਾ।" BSB BSB: But I replied, “Should a man like me run away? Should one like me go into the temple to save his own life? I will not go!”
12 ULB ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਸਨਬੱਲਟ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾੜੇ ਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: I realized that God had not sent him, but that he had uttered this prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
13 ULB ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਭਾੜੇ ਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਡਰ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਬਣਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਵੇ। BSB BSB: He had been hired to intimidate me so that I would sin by doing as he suggested, so they could give me a bad name in order to discredit me.
14 ULB "ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਸਨਬੱਲਟ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਨੋਆਦਯਾਹ ਨਬੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖ।" BSB BSB: O my God, remember Tobiah and Sanballat for what they have done, and also Noadiah the prophetess and the other prophets who tried to intimidate me.
15 ULB ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਲੂਲ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਪੱਚੀ ਤਾਰੀਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਬਵੰਜਾ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਪਨਾਹ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ। BSB BSB: So the wall was completed in fifty-two days, on the twenty-fifth of Elul.
16 ULB ਫਿਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਦ ਸਾਡੇ ਚੁਫ਼ੇਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਡਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and disheartened, for they realized that this task had been accomplished by our God.
17 ULB ਨਾਲੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਸਾਮੰਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਗਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਆਈਆਂ। BSB BSB: Also in those days, the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and Tobiah’s letters kept coming to them.
18 ULB ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਰਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਕਨਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਜੁਵਾਈ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਹਾਨਾਨ ਨੇ ਬਰਕਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਸ਼ੁੱਲਾਮ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਧੀ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: For many in Judah were bound by oath to him, since he was a son-in-law of Shecaniah son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam son of Berechiah.
19 ULB ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: Moreover, these nobles kept reporting to me Tobiah’s good deeds, and they relayed my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to intimidate me.
