1 ULB E agora, ó Israel, ouve as leis e decretos que eu te ensino a fim de cumpri-los; para que vivas e tomes posse da terra que Yahweh, o Deus de teus pais, está te dando. BSB BSB: Hear now, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live and may enter and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
2 ULB Não adicionarás nada às palavras que te ordeno, nem diminuirás nada, a fim de cumprir os mandamentos de Yahweh, teu Deus, os quais eu te ordeno. BSB BSB: You must not add to or subtract from what I command you, so that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you.
3 ULB Teus olhos viram o que Yahweh fez por causa de Baal-Peor; porque todos os homens que seguiram Baal-Peor, Yahweh, teu Deus, os destruiu do teu meio. BSB BSB: Your eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal-peor, for the LORD your God destroyed from among you all who followed Baal of Peor.
4 ULB Todavia, tu, que te apegaste a Yahweh, teu Deus, estás vivo até hoje, cada um de vós. BSB BSB: But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive to this day, every one of you.
5 ULB Vede, eu já vos ensinei as leis e decretos, conforme Yahweh, meu Deus me havia ordenado, para obedecê-los no meio da terra que ireis, a fim de possuí-la. BSB BSB: See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God has commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land that you are about to enter and possess.
6 ULB No entanto, guardai-os e os cumpri; porque vossa sabedoria e vosso entendimento serão vistos diante das pessoas que ouvirão sobre esses estatutos e dirão: 'Certamente, essa grande nação é de pessoas sábias e de grande entendimento'. BSB BSB: Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the peoples, who will hear of all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”
7 ULB Pois, que outra grande nação tem um deus tão próximo deles como Yahweh, nosso Deus, está, onde quer que o clamemos? BSB BSB: For what nation is great enough to have a god as near to them as the LORD our God is to us whenever we call on Him?
8 ULB Qual outra grande nação tem leis e decretos tão justos como todas estas leis que coloco, hoje, diante vós? BSB BSB: And what nation is great enough to have righteous statutes and ordinances like this entire law I set before you today?
9 ULB Apenas prestai atenção e guardai, cuidadosamente, para não vos esquecerdes das coisas que vossos olhos viram, e para que isto não saia do vosso coração, todos os dias da vossa vida. Ao invés disso, tornai conhecido pelos vossos filhos e pelos filhos dos vossos filhos, BSB BSB: Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.
10 ULB o dia em que ficastes diante de Yahweh, vosso Deus, em Horebe, quando Yahweh me disse: 'Reúna-os para Mim, e Eu farei com que ouçam as Minhas palavras, para aprenderem a temer-Me todos os dias em que viverem na terra, e para ensiná-las a seus filhos'. BSB BSB: The day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, the LORD said to me, “Gather the people before Me to hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach them to their children.”
11 ULB Vós vos aproximastes e ficastes ao pé da montanha. A montanha ardia em fogo até o meio dos céus, com nuvens, densa escuridão e trevas. BSB BSB: You came near and stood at the base of the mountain, a mountain blazing with fire to the heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness.
12 ULB Yahweh falou convosco no meio do fogo; vós ouvistes o som destas palavras, mas não vistes forma alguma; somente ouvistes uma voz. BSB BSB: And the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of the words but saw no form; there was only a voice.
13 ULB Ele vos declarou a aliança que vos ordenou cumprir, os Dez Mandamentos. Escreveu-os em duas tábuas de pedra. BSB BSB: He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to follow—the Ten Commandments that He wrote on two tablets of stone.
14 ULB Yahweh ordenou-me, naquele tempo, a vos ensinar os estatutos e as ordenanças, a fim de que vós os cumprísseis na terra que estais atravessando para tomar posse. BSB BSB: At that time the LORD commanded me to teach you the statutes and ordinances you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
15 ULB Prestai muita atenção, pois vós não vistes nenhum tipo de forma no dia em que Yahweh falou a vós em Horebe do meio do fogo, BSB BSB: So since you saw no form of any kind on the day the LORD spoke to you out of the fire at Horeb, be careful
16 ULB para que não vos corrompais e façais imagens esculpidas semelhantemente a qualquer criatura, na forma de homem ou mulher; BSB BSB: that you do not act corruptly and make an idol for yourselves of any form or shape, whether in the likeness of a male or female,
17 ULB ou, semelhantemente, a qualquer animal que está sobre a terra; ou, semelhantemente, a qualquer ave que voa nos céus; BSB BSB: of any beast that is on the earth or bird that flies in the air,
18 ULB ou, semelhantemente, a qualquer animal que rasteja sobre o chão; ou, semelhantemente, a qualquer peixe que está nas águas debaixo da terra. BSB BSB: or of any creature that crawls on the ground or fish that is in the waters below.
19 ULB Para que, quando levantardes os vossos olhos aos céus e, vendo o sol, a lua ou as estrelas, todo o exército celestial, não sejais levados a vos prostrardes para adorá-los, pois estas coisas Yahweh, vosso Deus, tem dado e compartilhado com todos as povos debaixo de todo o céu. BSB BSB: When you look to the heavens and see the sun and moon and stars—all the host of heaven—do not be enticed to bow down and worship what the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
20 ULB Todavia, Yahweh tomou a vós, tirando-vos da fornalha de ferro, fora do Egito, para serdes um povo da Sua própria herança, assim como sois hoje. BSB BSB: Yet the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of His inheritance, as you are today.
21 ULB Yahweh Se irou contra mim por vossa causa. Ele jurou que eu não passaria o Jordão, e que eu não entraria na boa terra, a terra que Yahweh, vosso Deus, vos dá como herança. BSB BSB: The LORD, however, was angry with me on account of you, and He swore that I would not cross the Jordan to enter the good land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
22 ULB Ao invés disso, morrerei nesta terra; não passarei o Jordão; mas vós o cruzareis e possuireis essa boa terra. BSB BSB: For I will not be crossing the Jordan, because I must die in this land. But you shall cross over and take possession of that good land.
23 ULB Prestai atenção, vós mesmos, para não vos esquecerdes da aliança de Yahweh, vosso Deus, a qual Ele fez convosco, e não façais para vós nenhuma imagem esculpida na forma de tudo o que o Senhor vosso Deus vos proibiu de fazer. BSB BSB: Be careful that you do not forget the covenant of the LORD your God that He made with you; do not make an idol for yourselves in the form of anything He has forbidden you.
24 ULB Pois o Senhor, vosso Deus é um fogo devorador, um Deus zeloso. BSB BSB: For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
25 ULB Quando vós gerardes filhos e os filhos dos vossos filhos, e, quando vós estiverdes na terra por um longo tempo, e, se vos corromperdes a vós mesmos e fizerdes uma figura esculpida na forma de algo, e fizerdes o que é mau aos olhos de Yahweh, vosso Deus, para provocá-lo à ira— BSB BSB: After you have children and grandchildren and you have been in the land a long time, if you then act corruptly and make an idol of any form—doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God and provoking Him to anger—
26 ULB eu chamo os céus e a terra para testemunhar contra vós hoje que vós, em breve, perecereis completamente fora da terra, a qual estais passando pelo Jordão para a possuir; vós não prolongareis os vossos dias, mas sereis completamente destruídos. BSB BSB: I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live long upon it, but will be utterly destroyed.
27 ULB Yahweh vos espalhará entre os povos e sereis em número reduzido entre as nações para onde Yahweh vos levará. BSB BSB: Then the LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the LORD will drive you.
28 ULB Lá, servireis outros deuses, obras das mãos humanas, deuses de madeira e pedra, os quais não veem, nem escutam, nem comem ou cheiram. BSB BSB: And there you will serve man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.
29 ULB Mas, de lá, buscareis Yahweh, vosso Deus, e vós o achareis, quando vós O buscardes com todo o vosso coração e todo a vossa alma. BSB BSB: But if from there you will seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
30 ULB Quando estiverdes em sofrimento e quando todas estas coisas vierem sobre vós, nestes últimos dias, voltareis para Yahweh, vosso Deus, e ouvireis Sua voz. BSB BSB: When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice.
31 ULB Porque Yahweh, vosso Deus, é Deus misericordioso; Ele não falhará e nem vos destruirá, nem esquecerá da aliança que prometeu aos vossos pais. BSB BSB: For the LORD your God is a merciful God; He will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers, which He swore to them by oath.
32 ULB Perguntai agora sobre os dias do passado, àqueles que existiram bem antes de vós. Desde o dia em que Deus criou o homem na terra, perguntai, de uma extremidade dos céus até a outra, se existiu algo grandioso parecido ou igual a isso que tendes ouvido? BSB BSB: Indeed, ask now from one end of the heavens to the other about the days that long preceded you, from the day that God created man on earth: Has anything as great as this ever happened or been reported?
33 ULB Algum povo ouviu a voz de Deus falar do meio do fogo assim como vós ouvistes e vivestes? BSB BSB: Has a people ever heard the voice of God speaking out of the fire, as you have, and lived?
34 ULB Ou Deus se esforçou para ir e tomar para Si uma nação do meio de outras nações, por meio de provas, sinais e maravilhas, por meio de guerras e por mão poderosa, pelo braço estendido e por grande terror, como tudo o que Yahweh, vosso Deus, fez por vós no Egito diante dos vossos olhos? BSB BSB: Or has any god tried to take as his own a nation out of another nation—by trials, signs, wonders, and war, by a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors—as the LORD your God did for you in Egypt, before your eyes?
35 ULB Estas coisas foram mostradas a vós, para que soubésseis que Yahweh é Deus e que não existe outro diante Dele. BSB BSB: You were shown these things so that you would know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides Him.
36 ULB Ele fez ouvir a Sua voz acima dos céus, a fim de vos instruir; na terra, Ele vos mostrou Seu grande fogo; vós ouvistes Suas palavras do meio do fogo. BSB BSB: He let you hear His voice from heaven to discipline you, and on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the fire.
37 ULB Porque Ele amou vossos pais, não somente escolheu a descendência deles, mas também os resgatou do Egito com Sua presença e com Seu grande poder, BSB BSB: Because He loved your fathers, He chose their descendants after them and brought you out of Egypt by His presence and great power,
38 ULB a fim de expulsar diante de vós nações grandes e mais poderosas, para ali vos levar, para vos dar por herança a terra delas, como vedes neste dia. BSB BSB: to drive out before you nations greater and mightier than you, and to bring you into their land and give it to you for your inheritance, as it is this day.
39 ULB Hoje, todavia, sabei e considerai, em vosso coração, que só Yahweh é Deus, acima dos céus e embaixo, na terra. Não existe outro igual a Ele. BSB BSB: Know therefore this day and take to heart that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.
40 ULB Mantereis Seus estatutos e mandamentos, que hoje vos ordeno, para que vivais bem, vós e vossos filhos, e para prolongardes vossos dias na terra que Yahweh, vosso Deus, vos dá para sempre". BSB BSB: Keep His statutes and commandments, which I am giving you today, so that you and your children after you may prosper, and that you may live long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you for all time.
41 ULB Então, Moisés selecionou três cidades do lado leste do rio Jordão, BSB BSB: Then Moses set aside three cities across the Jordan to the east
42 ULB para as quais qualquer pessoa pudesse se refugiar, se ela matasse uma pessoa acidentalmente, sem que ela fosse sua inimiga anteriormente. Refugiando-se nessas cidades, ela poderia sobreviver. BSB BSB: to which a manslayer could flee after killing his neighbor unintentionally without prior malice. To save one’s own life, he could flee to one of these cities:

BSB BSB: Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau belonging to the Reubenites, Ramoth in Gilead belonging to the Gadites, or Golan in Bashan belonging to the Manassites.

45 ULB esses são os estatutos, as leis e outros decretos que Moisés falou ao povo de Israel quando eles saíram do Egito, BSB BSB: These are the testimonies, statutes, and ordinances that Moses proclaimed to them after they had come out of Egypt,
46 ULB quando eles estavam no leste do Jordão, no vale defronte a Bete-Peor, na terra de Siom, rei dos amorreus, que viviam em Hesbom, a quem Moisés e o povo de Israel derrotaram quando saíram do Egito. BSB BSB: while they were in the valley across the Jordan facing Beth-peor in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon and was defeated by Moses and the Israelites after they had come out of Egypt.
