1 ULB Depois disso, falou Yahweh a Abrão, numa visão, dizendo: "Não temas, Abrão! Eu Sou teu escudo, e tua recompensa será grande". BSB BSB: After these events, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
3 ULB E acrescentou Abrão: "Tu não me deste descendente, e o mordomo da minha casa será o meu herdeiro". BSB BSB: Abram continued, “Behold, You have given me no offspring, so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
4 ULB Então, veio a ele a palavra de Yahweh, dizendo: "Esse não será o teu herdeiro, mas aquele que será gerado por ti será o teu herdeiro". BSB BSB: Then the word of the LORD came to Abram, saying, “This one will not be your heir, but one who comes from your own body will be your heir.”
5 ULB E o Senhor o conduziu para fora e disse: "Olha para o céu e conta as estrelas, se puderes". E disse-lhe: "Assim será a tua descendência". BSB BSB: And the LORD took him outside and said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able.” Then He told him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6 ULB Abrão creu em Yahweh e isso lhe foi atribuído como justiça. BSB BSB: Abram believed the LORD, and it was credited to him as righteousness.
7 ULB E disse Yahweh: "Eu Sou Yahweh, que te fez sair de Ur dos caldeus, para te dar esta terra por herança". BSB BSB: The LORD also told him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”
8 ULB Perguntou-lhe Abrão: "Senhor Yahweh, como vou saber que a herdarei?". BSB BSB: But Abram replied, “Lord GOD, how can I know that I will possess it?”
9 ULB Respondeu-lhe: "Traz-Me uma novilha, uma cabra e um carneiro, cada um com três anos de idade, um pombo e uma rolinha". BSB BSB: And the LORD said to him, “Bring Me a heifer, a goat, and a ram, each three years old, along with a turtledove and a young pigeon.”
10 ULB Ele trouxe os animais, cortou-os ao meio e colocou cada parte em frente à outra, porém as aves não cortou. BSB BSB: So Abram brought all these to Him, split each of them down the middle, and laid the halves opposite each other. The birds, however, he did not cut in half.
11 ULB As aves de rapina desciam sobre as carcaças, e Abrão as afugentava. BSB BSB: And the birds of prey descended on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
12 ULB Quando o sol se punha, caiu um sono profundo sobre Abrão, pavor e grande escuridão o cercaram. BSB BSB: As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and suddenly great terror and darkness overwhelmed him.
13 ULB Então disse Yahweh a Abrão: "Sabe com certeza que teus descendentes serão peregrinos em uma terra que não lhes pertence. Serão escravizados e oprimidos por quatrocentos anos. BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years.
14 ULB Mas Eu julgarei a nação à qual haverão de servir; depois sairão com abundantes riquezas. BSB BSB: But I will judge the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will depart with many possessions.
15 ULB Tu, porém, irás em paz aos teus pais e serás sepultado em boa velhice. BSB BSB: You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a ripe old age.
17 ULB Depois que o sol se pôs e já estava escuro, uma fornalha fumegante e uma tocha de fogo passaram por entre as metades dos animais. BSB BSB: When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, behold, a smoking firepot and a flaming torch appeared and passed between the halves of the carcasses.
18 ULB Naquele dia, Yahweh fez uma aliança com Abrão, dizendo: "À tua descendência dei esta terra, desde o rio do Egito até ao grande rio Eufrates: BSB BSB: On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I have given this land—from the river of Egypt to the great River Euphrates—
19 ULB o queneu, o quenezeu, o cadmoneu, BSB BSB: the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,
20 ULB o heteu, o perizeu, os refains, BSB BSB: Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites,
21 ULB o amorreu, o cananeu, o girgaseu e o jebuseu". BSB BSB: Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites.”
