1 ULB Todo o povo se reuniu como um só homem na praça em frente à Porta das Águas. Eles pediram que Esdras, o escriba, trouxesse o livro da Lei de Moisés, o qual Yahweh ordenou a Israel. BSB BSB: At that time all the people gathered together in the square before the Water Gate, and they asked Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.
2 ULB No primeiro dia do sétimo mês, Esdras, o sacerdote, trouxe a Lei perante a assembleia, homens e mulheres, e todos os que podiam ouvir e entender. BSB BSB: On the first day of the seventh month, Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly of men and women and all who could listen and understand.
3 ULB Ele se pôs diante da praça em frente à Porta das Águas, e leu desde manhã cedo até o meio dia, na presença de homens e mulheres, e de todo aquele que podia entendê-la. E todo o povo ouviu atentamente o Livro da Lei. BSB BSB: So Ezra read it aloud from daybreak until noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate, in front of the men and women and those who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.
4 ULB Então, Esdras, o escriba, subiu num palco de madeira que o povo havia feito para aquele propósito. Estando de pé ao seu lado direito, Matitias, Sema, Anaías, Urias, Hilquias e Maaseias, e estando de pé ao seu lado esquerdo, Pedaías, Misael, Malquias, Hasum, Hasbadana, Zacarias e Mesulão. BSB BSB: Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform built for this occasion. At his right side stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, and at his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hash-baddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5 ULB Esdras abriu o livro à vista de todo o povo, pois ele estava elevado acima do povo, e quando ele o abriu, todo o povo levantou-se. BSB BSB: Ezra opened the book in full view of all the people, since he was standing above them all, and as he opened it, all the people stood up.
6 ULB Esdras agradeceu a Yahweh, o grandioso Deus, e todo o povo levantou as mãos, e respondeu: "Amém! Amém!". Então, eles inclinaram suas cabeças e adoraram Yahweh com o rosto voltado para o chão. BSB BSB: Then Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and with their hands uplifted, all the people said, “Amen, Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
7 ULB Também Jesua, Bani, Serebias, Jamim, Acube, Sabetai, Hodias, Maaseias, Quelita, Azarias, Jozabade, Hanã, Pelaías —os levitas— ajudaram o povo a entender a Lei, enquanto o povo permanecia no seu lugar. BSB BSB: The Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah—instructed the people in the Law as they stood in their places.
9 ULB Neemias, o governador, e Esdras, o sacerdote e escriba, e os levitas que interpretavam disseram para o povo: "Este dia é santo para Yahweh, vosso Deus. Não lamenteis, nem choreis". Pois, todo o povo chorava enquanto ouvia as palavras da Lei. BSB BSB: Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all of them, “This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the Law.
10 ULB Então, Neemias disse-lhes: "Ide, comei carnes gordas e bebei bebidas doces, e enviai porções para quem não tiver nada preparado, pois este dia é santo ao nosso Senhor. Não vos entristeçais, pois a alegria de Yahweh é a vossa força". BSB BSB: Then Nehemiah told them, “Go and eat what is rich, drink what is sweet, and send out portions to those who have nothing prepared, since today is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
11 ULB Então, os levitas fizeram o povo se aquietar, dizendo: "Acalmai-vos! Pois este dia é santo. Não vos entristeçais". BSB BSB: And the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be still, since today is holy. Do not grieve.”
12 ULB Então, todo o povo foi comer, beber, repartir a comida e celebrar com grande alegria, porque eles entenderam as palavras que lhes foram explicadas. BSB BSB: Then all the people began to eat and drink, to send out portions, and to rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that had been made known to them.
13 ULB No segundo dia, os líderes das famílias dos antepassados de todo o povo, os sacerdotes e os levitas, vieram juntos a Esdras, o escriba, para aprenderem sobre as palavras da Lei. BSB BSB: On the second day of the month, the heads of all the families, along with the priests and Levites, gathered around Ezra the scribe to study the words of the Law.
14 ULB E eles encontraram escrito na Lei como Yahweh tinha ordenado através de Moisés, que o povo de Israel deveria viver em tendas durante a festa do sétimo mês. BSB BSB: And they found written in the Law, which the LORD had commanded through Moses, that the Israelites were to dwell in booths during the feast of the seventh month,
15 ULB Eles deveriam proclamar em todas as suas cidades e em Jerusalém, dizendo: "Ide às montanhas, e trazei ramos de oliveira cultivadas, e de oliveiras silvestres, e de murtas, e folhas de palmeira e de árvores frondosas, para fazerem tendas, como está escrito". BSB BSB: and that they should proclaim this message and spread it throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the hill country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.”
16 ULB Então, o povo saiu e trouxeram os ramos; e fizeram para si mesmos tendas, cada um em seu próprio terraço, em seus pátios, e nos átrios da casa de Deus, e na praça da Porta das Águas, e na praça do Porta de Efraim. BSB BSB: And the people went out, brought back branches, and made booths on their own rooftops, in their courtyards, in the courts of the house of God, and in the squares by the Water Gate and by the Gate of Ephraim.
17 ULB E a assembleia dos que tinham retornado do cativeiro fez tendas e morou nelas. Pois, desde os dias de Josué, filho de Num, até aquele dia, o povo de Israel não havia celebrado essa festa. Por isso, a alegria do povo foi muito grande. BSB BSB: The whole assembly that had returned from exile made booths and lived in them. From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated like this. And there was great rejoicing.
18 ULB E dia após dia, desde o primeiro dia até o último, Esdras leu do livro da Lei de Deus. Eles celebraram a festa por sete dias, e no oitavo dia houve uma assembleia solene em obediência ao decreto. BSB BSB: Day after day, from the first day to the last, Ezra read from the Book of the Law of God. The Israelites kept the feast for seven days, and on the eighth day they held an assembly, according to the ordinance.
