1The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

2And the sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

3And the sons of Amram: Aaron, and Moses, and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron: Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

4Eleazar fathered Phinehas. Phinehas fathered Abishua.Eleazar was the father of Phinehas, Phinehas was the father of Abishua,

5And Abishua fathered Bukki, and Bukki fathered Uzzi.Abishua was the father of Bukki, Bukki was the father of Uzzi,

6And Uzzi fathered Zerahiah, and Zerahiah fathered Meraioth.Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah, Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth,

7Meraioth fathered Amariah, and Amariah fathered Ahitub.Meraioth was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,

8And Ahitub fathered Zadok, and Zadok fathered Ahimaaz.Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz,

9And Ahimaaz fathered Azariah, and Azariah fathered Johanan.Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah, Azariah was the father of Johanan,

10And Johanan fathered Azariah, he who served as priest in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem.Johanan was the father of Azariah, who served as priest in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem,

11And Azariah fathered Amariah, and Amariah fathered Ahitub.Azariah was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,

12And Ahitub fathered Zadok, and Zadok fathered Shallum.Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Shallum,

13And Shallum fathered Hilkiah, and Hilkiah fathered Azariah.Shallum was the father of Hilkiah, Hilkiah was the father of Azariah,

14And Azariah fathered Seraiah, and Seraiah fathered Jozadak.Azariah was the father of Seraiah, and Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.

15And Jozadak went when Yahweh took into exile Judah and Jerusalem in the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.Jehozadak went into captivity when the LORD sent Judah and Jerusalem into exile by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

16The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.

17And these, the names of the sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei.These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.

18And the sons of Kohath: Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

19The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. And these, the clans of the Levites according to their fathers.The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Levites listed according to their fathers:

20Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,

21Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, Jeatherai his son.Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and Jeatherai his son.

25And the sons of Elkanah: Amasai, and Ahimoth,The descendants of Elkanah: Amasai, Ahimoth,

28And the sons of Samuel: the firstborn and the second, Abijah.The sons of Samuel: Joel his firstborn and Abijah his second son.

29The sons of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,The descendants of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,

30Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, Asaiah his son,Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.

31And these whom David set up over hands of song in the house of Yahweh, after the Box came to rest.These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the LORD after the ark rested there.

32And they were the ones ministering to the face of the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, with song until Solomon built the house of Yahweh in Jerusalem. And they stood according to their judgments over their service.They ministered with song before the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem. And they performed their duties according to the regulations given them.

33And these, the ones standing and their sons. From the sons of the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,These are the men who served, together with their sons. From the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

34the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,

35the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,

36the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,

37the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,

39And his brother Asaph who stood at his right hand, Asaph, the son of Berekiah, the son of Shimea,Heman’s kinsman was Asaph, who served at his right hand: Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,

44And the sons of Merari, their brothers, on the left: Ethan, the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluk,On the left were their kinsmen, the sons of Merari: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

45the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,

46the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,

47the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

48And their brothers, the Levites, were set to all the service of the tabernacle of the house of God.Their fellow Levites were assigned to every kind of service of the tabernacle, the house of God.

49And Aaron and his sons made sacrifices on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense for all the work of the Holy of Holies and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.But Aaron and his sons did all the work of the Most Holy Place. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

50And these, the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,These were the descendants of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,

54And these, their dwellings according to their encampments in their borders. To the sons of Aaron, to the clans of the Kohathites, for to them was the lot.Now these were the territories assigned to the descendants of Aaron from the Kohathite clan for their settlements, because the first lot fell to them:

55And they gave to them Hebron in the land of Judah and its surrounding pasturelands,They were given Hebron in the land of Judah and its surrounding pasturelands.

56but the field of the city and its villages, they gave to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh.But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.

57And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge: Hebron, and Libnah and its pasturelands, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa and its pasturelands,So the descendants of Aaron were given Hebron (a city of refuge), Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,

58and Hilez and its pasturelands, Debir and its pasturelands,Hilen, Debir,

59and Ashan and its pasturelands, and Beth Shemesh and its pasturelands.Ashan, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, together with their pasturelands.

60And from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba and its pasturelands, and Alemeth and its pasturelands, and Anathoth and its pasturelands. All their cities, 13 cities, among their clans.And from the tribe of Benjamin they were given Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth, together with their pasturelands. So they had thirteen cities in all among their families.

61And to the sons of Kohath remaining from the clan of the tribe, from the half tribe, the half of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities.To the rest of the Kohathites, ten cities were allotted from the half-tribe of Manasseh.

62And to the sons of Gershom, for their clans, from the tribe of Issachar and from the tribe of Asher and from the tribe of Naphtali and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, 13 cities.The Gershomites, according to their clans, were allotted thirteen cities from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and Manasseh in Bashan.

63To the sons of Merari, for their clans, from the tribe of Reuben and from the tribe of Gad and from the tribe of Zebulun, by lot, 12 cities.The Merarites, according to their clans, were allotted twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

64And the sons of Israel gave to the Levites the cities and their pasturelands.So the Israelites gave to the Levites these cities and their pasturelands.

65And they gave by lot from the tribe of the sons of Judah and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon and from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin these cities which they called them by names.They assigned by lot the cities named above from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.

66And from the clans of the sons of Kohath; and there were cities of their territory from the tribe of Ephraim.And some of the clans of the Kohathites were given cities from the tribe of Ephraim for their territory:

67And they gave to them the cities of refuge: Shechem and its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, and Gezer and its pasturelands,They were given Shechem (a city of refuge) with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, and Gezer,

68and Jokmeam and its pasturelands, and Beth Horon and its pasturelands,Jokmeam, Beth-horon,

69and Aijalon and its pasturelands, and Gath Rimmon and its pasturelands.Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon, together with their pasturelands.

70And from the half tribe of Manasseh, Aner and its pasturelands, and Bileam and its pasturelands, for the clans of the sons of Kohath remaining.And from the half-tribe of Manasseh the rest of the clans of the Kohathites were given Aner and Bileam, together with their pasturelands.

71To the sons of Gershon from the clans of the half tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan and its pasturelands, and Ashtaroth and its pasturelands.The Gershomites received the following: From the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Golan in Bashan and also Ashtaroth, together with their pasturelands.

72And from the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh and its pasturelands, Daberath and its pasturelands,From the tribe of Issachar they were given Kedesh, Daberath,

73and Ramoth and its pasturelands, and Anem and its pasturelands.Ramoth, and Anem, together with their pasturelands.

74And from the tribe of Asher: Mashal and its pasturelands, and Abdon and its pasturelands,From the tribe of Asher they were given Mashal, Abdon,

75and Hukok and its pasturelands, and Rehob and its pasturelands.Hukok, and Rehob, together with their pasturelands.

76And from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee and its pasturelands, and Hammon and its pasturelands, and Kiriathaim and its pasturelands.And from the tribe of Naphtali they were given Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon, and Kiriathaim, together with their pasturelands.

77To the sons of Merari remaining: from the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmono and its pasturelands, Tabor and its pasturelands;The Merarites (the rest of the Levites) received the following: From the tribe of Zebulun they were given Rimmono and Tabor, together with their pasturelands.

78and from beyond the Jordan at Jericho, to the east of the Jordan from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness and its pasturelands, and Jahzah and its pasturelands,From the tribe of Reuben east of the Jordan opposite Jericho they were given Bezer in the wilderness, Jahzah,

79and Kedemoth and its pasturelands, and Mephaath and its pasturelands.Kedemoth, and Mephaath, together with their pasturelands.

80And from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead and its pasturelands, and Mahanaim and its pasturelands,And from the tribe of Gad they were given Ramoth in Gilead, Mahanaim,

81and Heshbon and its pasturelands, and Jazer and its pasturelands.Heshbon, and Jazer, together with their pasturelands.
