1 GLT Therefore, finally, brothers, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus, just as you received from us how it is necessary for you to walk and to please God(just as also you are walking), that you might abound even more. BSB BSB: Finally, brothers, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus to live in a way that is pleasing to God, just as you have received from us. This is how you already live, so you should do so all the more.
2 GLT For you know what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus. BSB BSB: For you know the instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
3 GLT For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you keep yourselves from sexual immorality; BSB BSB: For it is God’s will that you should be holy: You must abstain from sexual immorality;
4 GLT that each of you knows to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, BSB BSB: each of you must know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,
5 GLT not in the passion of lust(just as also the Gentiles, the ones not knowing God); BSB BSB: not in lustful passion like the Gentiles who do not know God;
6 GLT not to transgress and take advantage of his brother in this matter, for the Lord{ is} an avenger concerning all these things, just as we also said before to you and testified. BSB BSB: and no one should ever violate or exploit his brother in this regard, because the Lord will avenge all such acts, as we have already told you and solemnly warned you.
7 GLT For God did not call us for uncleanness, but in sanctification. BSB BSB: For God has not called us to impurity, but to holiness.
8 GLT Therefore, the one rejecting this rejects not man, but God, the one giving his Holy Spirit to you. BSB BSB: Anyone, then, who rejects this command does not reject man but God, the very One who gives you His Holy Spirit.
9 GLT But concerning brotherly love, you have no need{ for us} to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another. BSB BSB: Now about brotherly love, you do not need anyone to write to you, because you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.
10 GLT For also you do it to all the brothers who{ are} in all Macedonia. But we encourage you, brothers, to abound even more BSB BSB: And you are indeed showing this love to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to excel more and more
11 GLT and to strive to be quiet and to perform your own things and to work with your own hands, just as we commanded you, BSB BSB: and to aspire to live quietly, to attend to your own matters, and to work with your own hands, as we instructed you.
12 GLT so that you may walk properly before the ones outside and have need of nothing. BSB BSB: Then you will behave properly toward outsiders, without being dependent on anyone.
14 GLT For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, thus also God will bring the ones having slept through Jesus with him. BSB BSB: For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
15 GLT For this we say to you in a word of the Lord, that we, the ones living, the ones surviving to the coming of the Lord, will certainly not go before the ones having slept. BSB BSB: By the word of the Lord, we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep.
17 GLT Then we, the ones living, the ones surviving, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and in this way we will always be with the Lord. BSB BSB: After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
18 GLT Therefore, encourage one another with these words. BSB BSB: Therefore encourage one another with these words.
