GLT And Yahweh said to Moses,“Go in to Pharaoh and speak to him:‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews:“Let my people go, and they shall serve me. BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and tell him that this is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
GLT Surely if you are unwilling to let go, but are still holding on to them, BSB BSB: But if you continue to restrain them and refuse to let them go,
GLT behold! The hand of Yahweh is about to be on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the cattle, and on the flock— an exceedingly heavy plague. BSB BSB: then the hand of the LORD will bring a severe plague on your livestock in the field—on your horses, donkeys, camels, herds, and flocks.
GLT And Yahweh will distinguish between the livestock of Israel and between the livestock of Egypt. And no thing will die from any of the sons of Israel.”’” BSB BSB: But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.’”
GLT And Yahweh set an appointment, saying,“Tomorrow Yahweh will do this thing in the land.” BSB BSB: The LORD set a time, saying, “Tomorrow the LORD will do this in the land.”
GLT And Yahweh did this thing the next day, and all of the livestock of Egypt died. But from the livestock of the sons of Israel not one died. BSB BSB: And the next day the LORD did just that. All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died.
GLT And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, not even one of the livestock of Israel had died. But the heart of Pharaoh was heavy, and he did not let the people go. BSB BSB: Pharaoh sent officials and found that none of the livestock of the Israelites had died. But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not let the people go.
GLT And Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron,“Take to you a fullness of both your hands of ash of a furnace. And Moses shall sprinkle it toward heaven before the eyes of Pharaoh. BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from the furnace; in the sight of Pharaoh, Moses is to toss it into the air.
GLT And it will become powder over all the land of Egypt. And it will become boils, bursting blisters, on man and on beast in all the land of Egypt.” BSB BSB: It will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and festering boils will break out on man and beast throughout the land.”
GLT And they took ash of a furnace, and they stood before the face of Pharaoh. And Moses sprinkled it toward the heavens, and it became boils, bursting blisters, on man and on beast. BSB BSB: So they took soot from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on man and beast.
GLT And the magicians were not able to stand before the face of Moses, because of the face of the boils, because boils were on the magicians and on all of Egypt. BSB BSB: The magicians could not stand before Moses, because the boils had broken out on them and on all the Egyptians.
GLT But Yahweh strengthened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, just as Yahweh had said to Moses. BSB BSB: But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said to Moses.
GLT And Yahweh said to Moses,“Rise early in the morning, and stand before the face of Pharaoh, and say to him,‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews:“Let my people go, and they shall serve me. BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, stand before Pharaoh, and tell him that this is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
GLT For this time I am about to send all my plagues to your heart, and on your servants, and on your people, in order that you may know that there is nothing like me in all the earth. BSB BSB: Otherwise, I will send all My plagues against you and your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like Me in all the earth.
GLT For now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague, and you would have been destroyed from the land. BSB BSB: For by this time I could have stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with a plague to wipe you off the earth.
GLT However, for this reason I appointed you: in order to show you my power and in order to proclaim my name in all the earth. BSB BSB: But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power to you, and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
GLT You are still exalting yourself against my people by failing to let them go. BSB BSB: Still, you lord it over My people and do not allow them to go.
GLT Behold me! I am about to cause extremely heavy hail to rain tomorrow at this time, which there has never been anything like in Egypt from the day it was founded until now. BSB BSB: Behold, at this time tomorrow I will rain down the worst hail that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded until now.
GLT And now send and bring to safety your livestock and all that is yours in the field, and the hail will come down on every man and beast that is found in the field and was not gathered to the house, and they will die.”’” BSB BSB: So give orders now to shelter your livestock and everything you have in the field. Every man or beast that remains in the field and is not brought inside will die when the hail comes down upon them.’”
GLT The fearers of the word of Yahweh from the servants of Pharaoh made their slaves and their livestock run to the houses, BSB BSB: Those among Pharaoh’s officials who feared the word of the LORD hurried to bring their servants and livestock to shelter,
GLT but whoever did not set his heart to the word of Yahweh left his slaves and his livestock in the field. BSB BSB: but those who disregarded the word of the LORD left their servants and livestock in the field.
GLT And Yahweh said to Moses,“Reach out your hand toward the heavens, and there will be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man and on beast and on every plant of the field in the land of Egypt.” BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, so that hail may fall on all the land of Egypt—on man and beast and every plant of the field throughout the land of Egypt.”
GLT And Moses stretched his staff to the heavens, and Yahweh gave thunder and hail, and fire darted to the land. And Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt. BSB BSB: So Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning struck the earth. So the LORD rained down hail upon the land of Egypt.
GLT And there was hail and fire coming in the middle of the hail;{ it was} very heavy, such as it had never been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. BSB BSB: The hail fell and the lightning continued flashing through it. The hail was so severe that nothing like it had ever been seen in all the land of Egypt from the time it became a nation.
GLT And the hail hit everything in the land of Egypt, everything which was in the field, from man to beast. And the hail struck every plant of the field, and it broke every tree of the field. BSB BSB: Throughout the land of Egypt, the hail struck down everything in the field, both man and beast; it beat down every plant of the field and stripped every tree.
GLT Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, there was no hail. BSB BSB: The only place where it did not hail was in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived.
GLT And Pharaoh sent, and he called for Moses and for Aaron. And he said to them,“I have sinned this time. Yahweh is righteous, and I and my people are guilty. BSB BSB: Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. “This time I have sinned,” he said. “The LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
GLT Pray to Yahweh, for the thunder of God and hail are too much. And I will let you go, and you will not continue to stay.” BSB BSB: Pray to the LORD, for there has been enough of God’s thunder and hail. I will let you go; you do not need to stay any longer.”
GLT And Moses said to him,“As I leave the city, I will spread my palms to Yahweh. The thunder will cease, and the hail will not continue, so that you may know that the earth belongs to Yahweh. BSB BSB: Moses said to him, “When I have left the city, I will spread out my hands to the LORD. The thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, so that you may know that the earth is the LORD’s.
GLT But you and your servants, I know that you are not yet afraid of the face of Yahweh God.” BSB BSB: But as for you and your officials, I know that you still do not fear the LORD our God.”
GLT (And the flax and the barley were struck down, for the barley was in ear, and the flax was in bloom. BSB BSB: (Now the flax and barley were destroyed, since the barley was ripe and the flax was in bloom;
GLT But the wheat and the spelt were not struck down, for they are late.) BSB BSB: but the wheat and spelt were not destroyed, because they are late crops.)
GLT And Moses left the city from being with Pharaoh, and he spread his palms to Yahweh, and the thunder and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth. BSB BSB: Then Moses departed from Pharaoh, went out of the city, and spread out his hands to the LORD. The thunder and hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured down on the land.
GLT And Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder ceased, and he added to his sin, and he caused his heart to be heavy, he and his servants. BSB BSB: When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had ceased, he sinned again and hardened his heart—he and his officials.
GLT And the heart of Pharaoh was strong, and he did not let the sons of Israel go, just as Yahweh had said by the hand of Moses. BSB BSB: So Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the LORD had said through Moses.
