1. 1GLTWho has believed our report, and to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?BSBBSB: Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2. 2GLTFor he arose like a shoot before his face, and like a root from parched earth; he had no features and no splendor; and we saw in him nothing of appearance to attract us.BSBBSB: He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no stately form or majesty to attract us, no beauty that we should desire Him.
3. 3GLTHe was despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted{ with} illness, and like one from whom men hide their faces, despised, and we considered him nothing.BSBBSB: He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. Like one from whom men hide their faces, He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.
4. 4GLTBut he has borne our sicknesses and carried our sorrows; yet we considered him afflicted, stricken of God and humiliated.BSBBSB: Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted.
5. 5GLTBut he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins, The punishment{ for} our peace{ was} on him, and by his wounds we are healed.BSBBSB: But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
6. 6GLTWe all, like sheep, have gone astray, each turned to his own way, and Yahweh has placed on him the iniquity of us all.BSBBSB: We all like sheep have gone astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.
7. 7GLTHe was oppressed, and he was tormented, and he did not open his mouth; like a lamb led to the slaughter, and like a sheep silent before the faces of its shearers, so he did not open his mouth.BSBBSB: He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth.
8. 8GLTBy coercion and by judgment he was taken away, and who of his generation was concerned? But he was cut off from the land of the living for the offenses of my people, an affliction for them.BSBBSB: By oppression and judgment He was taken away, and who can recount His descendants? For He was cut off from the land of the living; He was stricken for the transgression of My people.
9. 9GLTAnd they placed his grave{ with} the criminals, and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and deceit{ was} not in his mouth.BSBBSB: He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in His death, although He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.
10. 10GLTBut Yahweh was pleased to bruise him, put{ him} to grief. If he makes his life an offering for sin, he will see{ his} seed, prolong{ his} days, and the purpose of Yahweh will succeed in his hand,BSBBSB: Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush Him and to cause Him to suffer; and when His soul is made a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
11. 11GLTFrom the trouble of his life, he will see{ light}, be satisfied by his knowledge. My righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.BSBBSB: After the anguish of His soul, He will see the light of life and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant will justify many, and He will bear their iniquities.
12. 12GLTTherefore, I shall give him a portion among the multitude, and{ with} the many he will divide the spoils, because he exposed his life to death and{ with} the transgressors was numbered. For he bore the sin of many and for the transgressors made intercession.BSBBSB: Therefore I will allot Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoils with the strong, because He has poured out His life unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors. Yet He bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.
