Jeremiah 45 45 Jeremiah The fall of Jerusalem Russian Literal Text 1 GLT This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet told Baruch son of Neriah. This happened when he wrote in a scroll these words at Jeremiah’ s dictation— this was in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, and he said, BSB BSB: This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words on a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah:
GLT “Yahweh, God of Israel, says this to you, Baruch: BSB BSB: “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:
GLT You have said,‘Woe is me, for Yahweh has added agony to my pain. My groaning has wearied me; I find no rest.’ BSB BSB: You have said, ‘Woe is me because the LORD has added sorrow to my pain! I am worn out with groaning and have found no rest.’”
GLT This is what you must say to him:‘Yahweh says this: See, what I built, I am now tearing down. What I planted, I am now pulling up— I will do this throughout all the earth. BSB BSB: Thus Jeremiah was to say to Baruch: “This is what the LORD says: Throughout the land I will demolish what I have built and uproot what I have planted.
GLT But are you hoping for great things for yourself? Do not hope for that. For see, disaster is coming on all humanity— this is Yahweh’ s declaration— but I am giving you your life as your plunder everywhere you will go.’” BSB BSB: But as for you, do you seek great things for yourself? Stop seeking! For I will bring disaster on every living creature, declares the LORD, but wherever you go, I will grant your life as a spoil of war.”
