1 GLT And all the congregation of the sons of Israel assembled at Shiloh and placed the Tent of Meeting there. And the land was subdued before their face. BSB BSB: Then the whole congregation of Israel assembled at Shiloh and set up the Tent of Meeting there. And though the land was subdued before them,
2 GLT And seven tribes remained among the sons of Israel that had not apportioned their inheritance. BSB BSB: there were still seven tribes of Israel who had not yet received their inheritance.
3 GLT And Joshua said to the sons of Israel,“Until when will you be showing yourselves slack to enter to possess the land that Yahweh the God of your fathers has given to you? BSB BSB: So Joshua said to the Israelites, “How long will you put off entering and possessing the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?
4 GLT Provide for yourselves three men according to the tribe. And I will send them out and they will rise and walk about in the land and write it down according to the mouth of their inheritance and come to me. BSB BSB: Appoint three men from each tribe, and I will send them out to survey the land and map it out, according to the inheritance of each. Then they will return to me
5 GLT And they will apportion it among themselves for seven portions. Judah will stand on its border from the south, and the house of Joseph will stand on their border from the north. BSB BSB: and divide the land into seven portions. Judah shall remain in their territory in the south, and the house of Joseph shall remain in their territory in the north.
6 GLT And you will write down the land in seven portions and bring them here to me. And I will throw a lot for you here before the face of Yahweh our God. BSB BSB: When you have mapped out the seven portions of land and brought it to me, I will cast lots for you here in the presence of the LORD our God.
7 GLT But there is no portion within you for the Levites because the priesthood of Yahweh is their inheritance. And Gad and Reuben and the half of the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance from the other side of the Jordan toward sunrise, which Moses the servant of Yahweh gave to them.” BSB BSB: The Levites, however, have no portion among you, because their inheritance is the priesthood of the LORD. And Gad, Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already received the inheritance that Moses the servant of the LORD gave them beyond the Jordan to the east.”
8 GLT And the men rose and went. And Joshua commanded the ones who went to write down the land, saying,“Go and walk about in the land and write it down and return to me. And I will throw a lot for you here before the face of Yahweh in Shiloh.” BSB BSB: As the men got up to go out, Joshua commanded them to map out the land, saying, “Go and survey the land, map it out, and return to me. Then I will cast lots for you here in Shiloh in the presence of the LORD.”
9 GLT And the men went and passed over in the land and wrote it down on a book according to the cities in seven portions. And they came to Joshua, to the camp at Shiloh. BSB BSB: So the men departed and went throughout the land, mapping it city by city into seven portions. Then they returned with the document to Joshua at the camp in Shiloh.
10 GLT And Joshua threw a lot for them in Shiloh before the face of Yahweh. And there Joshua apportioned the land to the sons of Israel according to their portions. BSB BSB: And Joshua cast lots for them in the presence of the LORD at Shiloh, where he distributed the land to the Israelites according to their divisions.
11 GLT And the lot of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin according to their clans went up. And the border of their lot went out between the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph. BSB BSB: The first lot came up for the clans of the tribe of Benjamin. Their allotted territory lay between the tribes of Judah and Joseph:
12 GLT And the border for them was to the side to the north from the Jordan. And the border went up to the shoulder of Jericho from the north and went up in the hill country to the west. And its exits were at the wilderness of Beth Aven. BSB BSB: On the north side their border began at the Jordan, went up past the northern slope of Jericho, headed west through the hill country, and came out at the wilderness of Beth-aven.
13 GLT And the border passed over from there toward Luz, to the shoulder of Luz to the south(it is Bethel). And the border went down to Ataroth Addar, beside the mountain that is from south of Lower Beth Horon. BSB BSB: From there the border crossed over to the southern slope of Luz (that is, Bethel) and went down to Ataroth-addar on the hill south of Lower Beth-horon.
14 GLT And the border turned and went around at the side of the west toward the south, from the mountain that is on the face of Beth Horon to the south. And its exits were at Kiriath Baal(it is Kiriath Jearim, a city of the sons of Judah). This was the side of the west. BSB BSB: On the west side the border curved southward from the hill facing Beth-horon on the south and came out at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of the sons of Judah. This was the western side.
15 GLT And the side to the south was from the end of Kiriath Jearim. And the border went out to the west and went out to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah. BSB BSB: On the south side the border began at the outskirts of Kiriath-jearim and extended westward to the spring at the Waters of Nephtoah.
16 GLT And the border then went down to the end of the mountain that is on the face of the valley of Ben Hinnom, which is in the valley of the Rephaites to the north. And it went down the valley of Hinnom to the shoulder of the Jebusite to the south and went down En Rogel. BSB BSB: Then it went down to the foot of the hill that faces the Valley of Ben-hinnom at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim and ran down the Valley of Hinnom toward the southern slope of the Jebusites and downward to En-rogel.
17 GLT Then it turned northward and went out to En Shemesh and went out to Geliloth, which is opposite the ascent of Adummim. Then it went down to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben. BSB BSB: From there it curved northward and proceeded to En-shemesh and on to Geliloth facing the Ascent of Adummim, and continued down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
18 GLT And it passed over to the shoulder of the front of the Arabah to the north and went down to the Arabah. BSB BSB: Then it went on to the northern slope of Beth-arabah and went down into the valley.
19 GLT And the border passed over to the shoulder of Beth Hoglah to the north. And the exits of the border were at the tongue of the Sea of Salt to the north, at the end of the Jordan to the south. This was the border of the south. BSB BSB: The border continued to the northern slope of Beth-hoglah and came out at the northern bay of the Salt Sea, at the mouth of the Jordan. This was the southern border.
20 GLT And the Jordan borders it to the side toward the east. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, according to its borders all around, according to their clans. BSB BSB: On the east side the border was the Jordan. These were the borders around the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Benjamin.
21 GLT And the cities of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, according to their clans, were: Jericho and Beth Hoglah and the valley of Keziz BSB BSB: These were the cities of the clans of the tribe of Benjamin: Jericho, Beth-hoglah, Emek-keziz,
22 GLT and Beth Arabah and Zemaraim and Bethel BSB BSB: Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,
23 GLT and the Avvim, and the Parah, and Ophrah, BSB BSB: Avvim, Parah, Ophrah,
24 GLT and Kephar Ammoni and the Ophni and Geba; 12 cities and their villages. BSB BSB: Chephar-ammoni, Ophni, and Geba—twelve cities, along with their villages.
25 GLT Gibeon and the Ramah and Beeroth BSB BSB: Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth,
27 GLT and Rekem and Irpeel and Taralah BSB BSB: Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah,
28 GLT and Zelah, Haeleph, and the Jebusite(it is Jerusalem), Gibeah, Kiriath; 14 cities and their villages. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their clans. BSB BSB: Zelah, Haeleph, Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, and Kiriath-jearim—fourteen cities, along with their villages. This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Benjamin.
