1 GLT This is the word of Yahweh that came to Micah the Morashtite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. 3 GLT For look, Yahweh comes out of his place; he will come down and tread on the high places of the earth. BSB BSB: For behold, the LORD comes forth from His dwelling place; He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth.
4 GLT The mountains will melt under him; the valleys will break apart, like wax before fire, like waters that are poured down a steep place. BSB BSB: The mountains will melt beneath Him, and the valleys will split apart, like wax before the fire, like water rushing down a slope.
5 GLT All this is because of the Jacob’ s transgression, and because of the sins of the house of Israel. What is Jacob’ s transgression? Is it not Samaria? What is Judah’ s high place? Is it not Jerusalem? BSB BSB: All this is for the transgression of Jacob and the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? And what is the high place of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem?
6 GLT “I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the field, a place for planting vineyards, and I will pour her stones down into the valley and I will uncover her foundations. BSB BSB: Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of rubble in the open field, a planting area for a vineyard. I will pour her stones into the valley and expose her foundations.
7 GLT All her carved figures will be broken to pieces, and all her payments will be burned with fire, and all her idols, I will make a complete destruction. 11 GLT Pass by, inhabitants of Shaphir, in nakedness and shame. do not come out, inhabitants of Zaanan. Beth Ezel mourns, its place to stand is taken from you. 12 GLT For the inhabitants of Maroth wait anxiously for good, because disaster has come down from Yahweh to the gates of Jerusalem. BSB BSB: For the dwellers of Maroth pined for good, but calamity came down from the LORD, even to the gate of Jerusalem.
13 GLT Harness the chariot to the team of horses, inhabitants of Lachish. She was the beginning of sin for the daughter of Zion, for in you were found, the transgressions of Israel. BSB BSB: Harness your chariot horses, O dweller of Lachish. You were the beginning of sin to the Daughter of Zion, for the transgressions of Israel were found in you.
14 GLT So you will give a parting gift to Moresheth Gath; the town of Akzib will decieve the kings of Israel. BSB BSB: Therefore, send farewell gifts to Moresheth-gath; the houses of Achzib will prove deceptive to the kings of Israel.
15 GLT I will again bring a conqueror to you, inhabitants of Mareshah; the splendor of Israel will come to Adullam. BSB BSB: I will again bring a conqueror against you, O dweller of Mareshah. The glory of Israel will come to Adullam.
16 GLT Shave your head and cut off your hair for the sons in whom you delight. Make yourself as bald as eagles, for they will go into exile from you. BSB BSB: Shave yourselves bald and cut off your hair in mourning for your precious children; make yourselves as bald as an eagle, for they will go from you into exile.
