1 GLT And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses,
2 GLT “Speak to Aaron and say to him,‘When you lift up the lamps to the front of the face of the lampstand, the seven lamps shall give light.’” BSB BSB: “Speak to Aaron and tell him: ‘When you set up the seven lamps, they are to light the area in front of the lampstand.’”
3 GLT And Aaron did so. To the front of the face of the lampstand he lifted up its lamps, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses. BSB BSB: And Aaron did so; he set up the lamps facing toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
4 GLT And this{ is} the work of the lampstand: a hammered gold work; it{ was} a hammered work up to its base, up to its blossom. According to the appearance that Yahweh showed Moses, so he made the lampstand. BSB BSB: This is how the lampstand was constructed: it was made of hammered gold from its base to its blossoms, fashioned according to the pattern the LORD had shown Moses.
5 GLT And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, BSB BSB: Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
6 GLT “Take the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel and make them clean. BSB BSB: “Take the Levites from among the Israelites and make them ceremonially clean.
7 GLT And thus you shall do to them to make them clean: Sprinkle on them the water of the sin offering. And they shall pass a razor over all their body, and they shall wash their garments, and they shall make themselves clean. BSB BSB: This is what you must do to cleanse them: Sprinkle them with the water of purification. Have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes, and so purify themselves.
8 GLT And they shall take a bull, a son of cattle, and its grain offering of fine flour mixed with the oil. And you shall take a second bull, a son of cattle, for a sin offering. BSB BSB: Then have them take a young bull with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you are to take a second young bull for a sin offering.
9 GLT And you shall bring the Levites near before the face of the tent of meeting. And you shall assemble all the congregation of the sons of Israel. BSB BSB: Bring the Levites before the Tent of Meeting and assemble the whole congregation of Israel.
10 GLT And you shall bring the Levites near before the face of Yahweh, and the sons of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites. BSB BSB: You are to present the Levites before the LORD and have the Israelites lay their hands upon them.
11 GLT And Aaron shall wave the Levites as a wave offering before the face of Yahweh from with the sons of Israel. And they shall be for serving the service of Yahweh. BSB BSB: Aaron is to present the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the sons of Israel, so that they may perform the service of the LORD.
12 GLT And the Levites shall lay their hands on the head of the bulls and make the one as a sin offering and the one as a burnt offering to Yahweh, to make atonement for the Levites. BSB BSB: And the Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and offer to the LORD one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, to make atonement for the Levites.
13 GLT And you shall stand the Levites before the face of Aaron and before the face of his sons, and you shall wave them as a wave offering to Yahweh. BSB BSB: You are to have the Levites stand before Aaron and his sons and then present them before the LORD as a wave offering.
14 GLT And you shall separate the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and the Levites shall be for me. BSB BSB: In this way you shall separate the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, and the Levites will belong to Me.
15 GLT And afterwards the Levites shall enter to serve the tent of meeting. And you shall make them clean and you shall wave them as a wave offering, BSB BSB: After you have cleansed them and presented them as a wave offering, they may come to serve at the Tent of Meeting.
16 GLT for they are given, given to me from the midst of the sons of Israel. Instead of the opener of every womb, the firstborn of all from the sons of Israel, I have taken them for myself. BSB BSB: For the Levites have been wholly given to Me from among the sons of Israel. I have taken them for Myself in place of all who come first from the womb, the firstborn of all the sons of Israel.
17 GLT For every firstborn among the sons of Israel, among the human and among the livestock, belongs to me. On the day of my striking every firstborn in the land of Egypt, I set them apart for me. BSB BSB: For every firstborn male in Israel is Mine, both man and beast. I set them apart for Myself on the day I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt.
18 GLT And I have taken the Levites instead of every firstborn among the sons of Israel. BSB BSB: But I have taken the Levites in place of all the firstborn among the sons of Israel.
19 GLT And I have given the Levites as given ones to Aaron and to his sons, from the midst of the sons of Israel, to serve the service of the sons of Israel in the tent of meeting and to make atonement for the sons of Israel. And there shall be no plague among the sons of Israel at the coming of the sons of Israel to the holy place.” BSB BSB: And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the Israelites, to perform the service for the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting and to make atonement on their behalf, so that no plague will come against the Israelites when they approach the sanctuary.”
20 GLT And Moses and Aaron and all the assembly of the sons of Israel did to the Levites according to all that Yahweh had commanded Moses for the Levites; so the sons of Israel did to them. BSB BSB: So Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation of Israel did with the Levites everything that the LORD had commanded Moses they should do.
21 GLT And the Levites purified themselves of sin, and they washed their garments, and Aaron waved them as a wave offering before the face of Yahweh, and Aaron made atonement for them to make them clean. BSB BSB: The Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes, and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the LORD. Aaron also made atonement for them to cleanse them.
22 GLT And afterward the Levites entered to serve their service in the tent of meeting before the face of Aaron and before the face of his sons. Just as Yahweh had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so he did to them. BSB BSB: After that, the Levites came to perform their service at the Tent of Meeting in the presence of Aaron and his sons. Thus they did with the Levites just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
23 GLT And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, BSB BSB: And the LORD said to Moses,
24 GLT “This is what is for the Levites: From a son of 25 years and above he shall enter to serve service in the work of the tent of meeting. BSB BSB: “This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years of age or older shall enter to perform the service in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
25 GLT And from a son of 50 years he shall return from the service of the work, and he shall not work more. BSB BSB: But at the age of fifty, they must retire from performing the work and no longer serve.
26 GLT And he shall serve his brothers in the tent of meeting to keep duty, but work he shall not work. Thus you shall do for the Levites in their duties.” BSB BSB: After that, they may assist their brothers in fulfilling their duties at the Tent of Meeting, but they themselves are not to do the work. This is how you are to assign responsibilities to the Levites.”
