1 GLT A Psalm of Asaph The Mighty One, God, Yahweh, has spoken and called the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. BSB BSB: A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from where the sun rises to where it sets.
2 GLT Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone. BSB BSB: From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.
3 GLT Our God comes and does not stay silent; a fire devours before him, and it is very stormy around him. BSB BSB: Our God approaches and will not be silent! Consuming fire precedes Him, and a tempest rages around Him.
4 GLT He calls to the heavens above and to the earth so that he may judge his people: BSB BSB: He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that He may judge His people:
5 GLT “Gather my faithful ones together to me, those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.” BSB BSB: “Gather to Me My saints, who made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
6 GLT The heavens will declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah BSB BSB: And the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for God Himself is Judge. Selah
7 GLT “Israel, I will testify against you. Hear, my people, and I will speak; I am God, your God. BSB BSB: “Hear, O My people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God.
8 GLT I will not reprove you for your sacrifices; your burnt offerings are always before me. BSB BSB: I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices, and your burnt offerings are ever before Me.
9 GLT I will take no bull out of your house, or male goats out of your folds. BSB BSB: I have no need for a bull from your stall or goats from your pens,
10 GLT For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. BSB BSB: for every beast of the forest is Mine—the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 GLT I know all the birds of the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are mine. BSB BSB: I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are Mine.
12 GLT If I were hungry, I would not tell you; for the world is mine, and everything in it. BSB BSB: If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and the fullness thereof.
13 GLT Will I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? BSB BSB: Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14 GLT Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High. BSB BSB: Sacrifice a thank offering to God, and fulfill your vows to the Most High.
15 GLT Call on me in the day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you will glorify me.” BSB BSB: Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.”
16 GLT But to the wicked God says,“What have you to do with declaring my statutes, that you have taken my covenant in your mouth, BSB BSB: To the wicked, however, God says, “What right have you to recite My statutes and to bear My covenant on your lips?
17 GLT since you hate instruction and throw my words away? BSB BSB: For you hate My instruction and cast My words behind you.
18 GLT When you see a thief, you agree with him; you participate with those who commit adultery. BSB BSB: When you see a thief, you befriend him, and throw in your lot with adulterers.
19 GLT You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue expresses deceit. BSB BSB: You unleash your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.
20 GLT You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’ s son. BSB BSB: You sit and malign your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.
21 GLT You have done these things, but I have kept silent, so you thought that I was someone just like yourself. But I will reprove you and bring up, right before your eyes, all the things you have done. BSB BSB: You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But now I rebuke you and accuse you to your face.
22 GLT Give this careful consideration, you who forget God, otherwise I will tear you to pieces, and there will be no one to come to help you! BSB BSB: Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:
23 GLT The one who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving praises me, and to anyone who plans his path in the right way I will show God’ s salvation.” BSB BSB: He who sacrifices a thank offering honors Me, and to him who rightly orders his way, I will show the salvation of God.”
