1 GLT And I saw a beast coming up from the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on its horns{ were} ten crowns, and on its heads{ was} a blasphemous name. 2 GLT And the beast that I saw was like a leopard and its feet{ were} as of a bear and its mouth{ was} as the mouth of a lion, and the dragon gave to it his power and his throne and great authority. 3 GLT And one of its heads{ was} as if it had been slain unto death, but its wound of death had been healed. 7 GLT And to it was granted to make war with the saints and to conquer them, and authority was given to it over every tribe and people and language and nation. 8 GLT And all the ones living on the earth will worship it, of whom his name has not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb having been slain from the foundation of the world. BSB BSB: And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain.
9 GLT If anyone has an ear, let him hear. BSB BSB: He who has an ear, let him hear:
10 GLT If anyone{ is} for captivity, he departs; if anyone will be killed by the sword, it is necessary for him to be killed by the sword. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints. 11 GLT And I saw another beast coming up from the earth, and it had two horns like a lamb but it was speaking like a dragon. BSB BSB: Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. This beast had two horns like a lamb, but spoke like a dragon.
12 GLT And it exercises all the authority of the first beast before it, and it makes the earth and the ones living on it that they will worship the first beast, of whom his wound of death had been healed. BSB BSB: And this beast exercised all the authority of the first beast and caused the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose mortal wound had been healed.
13 GLT And it does great signs, so that it might even cause fire to come down from heaven to the earth before men. BSB BSB: And the second beast performed great signs, even causing fire from heaven to come down to earth in the presence of the people.
14 GLT And it deceives the ones living on the earth through the signs that have been granted to it to do before the beast, telling the ones living on the earth to make an image to the beast that has the wound of the sword and has lived. BSB BSB: Because of the signs it was given to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived those who dwell on the earth, telling them to make an image to the beast that had been wounded by the sword and yet had lived.
15 GLT And it was granted to it to give breath to the image of the beast so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause whoever does not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 GLT And it causes everyone, the small and the great and the rich and the poor and the free and the slave, that they might give to them a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, BSB BSB: And the second beast required all people, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead,
17 GLT and that no one would be able to buy or to sell except the one having the mark, the name of the beast or the number of its name. BSB BSB: so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name.
18 GLT Here is wisdom: The one having understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast. For it is the number of a man, and its number is 666.
