1 GLT And I turned and lifted my eyes and I saw, and behold, four chariots coming out from between two mountains; and the two mountains{ were} made of bronze. BSB BSB: And again I lifted up my eyes and saw four chariots coming out from between two mountains—mountains of bronze.
2 GLT The first chariot had red horses, the second chariot had black horses, BSB BSB: The first chariot had red horses, the second black horses,
3 GLT and the third chariot had white horses, and the fourth chariot had spotted gray horses. BSB BSB: the third white horses, and the fourth dappled horses—all of them strong.
4 GLT And I answered and said to the angel who talked with me,“What{ are} these, my master?” BSB BSB: So I inquired of the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?”
5 GLT And the angel answered and said to me,“These are four winds of heaven that go out from where they were, before the Lord of all the earth. BSB BSB: And the angel told me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going forth from their station before the Lord of all the earth.
6 GLT The one with the black horses is going out to the north country; and the white ones are going out to the west; and the spotted ones are going out to the south country.” BSB BSB: The one with the black horses is going toward the land of the north, the one with the white horses toward the west, and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”
7 GLT These strong{ horses} went out and sought to go and roam over the earth, and he said,“Go and roam over the earth!” and they went to roam over the earth. BSB BSB: As the strong horses went out, they were eager to go and patrol the earth; and the LORD said, “Go and patrol the earth.” So they patrolled the earth.
8 GLT Then he called out to me and spoke to me, saying,“Look at the ones that are going out to the north country; they will appease my spirit in the north country.” BSB BSB: Then the LORD summoned me and said, “Behold, those going to the land of the north have given rest to My Spirit in the land of the north.”
9 GLT And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, BSB BSB: The word of the LORD also came to me, saying,
10 GLT “Take from the exiles— from Heldai, and from Tobijah, and from Jedaiah— and you go this same day and take it into the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah, who has come from Babylon. BSB BSB: “Take an offering from the exiles—from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon—and go that same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah.
11 GLT And take the silver and gold and make a crown and set{ it} on the head of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. BSB BSB: Take silver and gold, make an ornate crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jehozadak.
12 GLT And speak to him, saying,‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts, saying: Behold, a man whose name{ is} Branch, and he will grow from his place and he will build the temple of Yahweh! BSB BSB: And you are to tell him that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Here is a man whose name is the Branch, and He will branch out from His place and build the temple of the LORD.
13 GLT And he will build the temple of Yahweh, and he will bear glory, and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne, and a counsel of peace will exist between both of them. BSB BSB: Yes, He will build the temple of the LORD; He will be clothed in splendor and will sit on His throne and rule. And He will be a priest on His throne, and there will be peaceful counsel between the two.’
14 GLT And the crown will be given to Heldai, to Tobijah, to Jedaiah, and to Hen, son of Zephaniah as a memorial in the temple of Yahweh. BSB BSB: The crown will reside in the temple of the LORD as a memorial to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and the gracious son of Zephaniah.
15 GLT Then those who are far off will come and build the temple of Yahweh, so you will know that Yahweh of hosts has sent me to you; for{ this} will happen if you truly listen to the voice of Yahweh your God!’” BSB BSB: Even those far away will come and build the temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.”
